환경혁신전략, 지속가능성 관리통제시스템, 그리고 경영성과 간의 관계에 관한 연구

최근 연구자들은 환경혁신전략은 재무적 목표 달성뿐만 아니라, 환경적 이슈에 대한 혁신을 촉진함으로써 환경적 성과와 함께 사회적 성과까지 고려한 전략으로 이를 성공적으로 수립하고 실행시키기 위한 통제시스템으로 지속가능성 관리통제시스템을 제안하고 있다. 그러나 관련 선행연구들은 대부분 이론적 차원의 논의 및 사례연구였으며, 일부 실증연구에서는 환경혁신전략의 결정요인과 결과에 중점을 두고 있을 뿐, 환경혁신전략을 수립하고 구현하기 위해 활용되는 지속가능성 관리통제시스템의 구축 및 이용에 대한 시각은 매우 제한적이었다. 따라서 본 연구는 선행연구의 한계점을 바탕으로 제조기업을 대상으로 환경혁신전략과 경영성과 간의 관계에서 지속가능성 관리통제시스템이 매개적 역할을 하는지를 실증적으로 검증하고자 하였다. 본 연구는 지속가능성 관리통제시스템이 환경혁신전략과 경영성과간에 매개적 역할을 하는 것을 발견하였다. 따라서 기업은 지속가능성을 기업의 전반적인 경영활동에 포함시키고 실행시키기 위해서는 이에 부합한 환경혁신전략을 수립하여야 하며, 이를 효과적이고 효율적으로 실행 및 관리해주는 도구인 SMCS의 다양한 이용을 통해 경영성과를 개선시킬 수 있음을 시사해준다. Recently, researchers have proposed that the environmental innovation strategy is a strategy that considers not only financial goals, but also social performance as well as environmental performance by promoting innovation on environmental issues, as a control system to successfully establish and execute the sustainability management control system. However, most of the related previous studies were discussions and case studies at the theoretical level, and some empirical studies only focus on the determinants and outcomes of the environmental innovation strategy. The view on the construction and use of the product was very limited. Therefore, This study tried to empirically verify whether the sustainability management control system plays a mediating role in the relationship between environmental innovation strategies and business performance targeting manufacturing companies based on the limitations of previous studies. it was found that sustainability management control system play a mediating role between the environmental innovation strategy and business performance. Therefore, it suggests that an entity must establish an appropriate environmental innovation strategy to include and implement sustainability in the firm's overall management activities, and that the diverse use of SMCS, a tool to effectively and efficiently implement and manage it, can improve business performance.
