The internal public library continuously increase for the life long education and harmony of inhabitants. Like this, we have realized the importance of public libraries and are increasing the number but the reality is that 50% of local public library's reading rooms are being alienated and blocked from the public without any special features. Hereupon, in this study, I analyzed the special features of Seattle Public Library built by Rem Koolhaas which has different reading rooms to the ones in the public libraries in Korea. Unlike any other reading rooms in Korea, the ones in Seattle Public Library are totally open to the public. 5 stationary spaces and 4 changeable spaces were built in just as Rem Koolhaas has intended to from the beginning. The reading rooms belong to the 4 changeable spaces and designed as an open public space with views and natural light. As a result of analyzing Seattle Public Library and other cases which have different features to the ones in Korea, I found out that the public libraries in Korea should escape from the idea that reading rooms have to be functional or independent from the library and should care more about the visitors' convenience by re-designing them as user-oriented open spaces. I believe that this study could be examined as an aide to constructing public libraries or setting goals and directions in the future.
실험적 각막 상피세포 제거시 발생한 Nitric Oxide

Nitric Oxide(NO)는 작고 비교적 불안정하고 독성이 있는 무기 가스로 L-arginine이 NO Synthase(NOS)에 의해 L-citrulline으로 전환될 때 생성되는 자유기이며 저농도에서는 생리적 기능을 하지만 고농도에서는 세포 독성을 일으킨다고 알려져 있다. 저자들은 상피세포에 손상을 주면 전반부 각막 간질세포에 세포사가 일어나는데, 이때 각막 간질세포의 세포사에 NO가 매개할 수 있다는 가정하에 실험적 각막 상피를 제거하였다. 실험결과 각막이 기계적으로 손상된 후 NO가 과다하게 생성되었고, NO 형성의 근원인 NOS 중에서 세포 독성이 강한 iNOS가 발현되는 것을 증명할 수 있었다. 따라서 각막 상피세포가 손상을 받았을 때 일어나는 각막 실질세포의 세포사 발생 기전에, 즉 각막 상피-각막 간질 상호 관계(epithelial-stromal interaction)에 NO가 매개할 수 있음을 시사한다고 할 수 있겠다. Apoptosis of the anterior stromal keratocytes has been demonstrated after corneal epithelial scraping wound. Nitric oxide(NO) is not only known to act as a neurotransmitter, but also act as a cytotoxic mediator when overproduced. Therefore, in this study, in order to detect the production of NO which may mediate the loss of keratocytes following epithelial injury, mechanical epithelial scraping in the rabbit eye was done. According to the time table, tear samples were collected with microcapillary tubes. NO production was assessed by measuring concentration of nitrite and nitrate. Immunohistochemical localization was performed on frozen sections from cryopreserved rat eyeball tissue using a polyclonal antibody against nitric oxide synthase(NOS). NO synthesis was increased after mechanical scraping, and reached a maximum value(0.60±0.09 μM/㎍ protein) at 12 hours after the treatment. There were statistically significant increases until 48hours postoperatively. Immunohistochemical staining of cornea showed that inducible and constitutive NOS were expressed in corneal stromal fibroblasts. These results suggest that mechanical scraping may induce NOS expression in cornea and NO produced by this enzyme may play an important role in mediating the stromal apoptosis after the removal of corneal epithelium.
쥐에서의 실험적 포도막염에 있어서 시간 경과에 따른 조직 병리 소견과 세포 사멸양상

그람음성균의 내독소인 Lipopolysaccharids(LPS)를 Lewis 흰쥐 발바닥에 주사하여 실험적 포도막염을 유발하였다. 시간경과에 따른 실험 모델의 조직 병리 소견을 관찰하였으며 또한 in situ TUNEL 방법을 이용하여 관찰한 염증 세포의 세포 사멸(apoptosis)과 면역조직화학염색을 통한 Fas ligand와의 관련성 여부를 알아보고자 하였다. 조직학적으로 안내 염증 세포 침윤은 8시간에 나타나기 시작하여 48시간에 최고조로 이른 후 72시간 이후에 감소되는 소견을 보였고 전안부에 국한되어 주로 중성 백혈구가 출현하였다. In situ TUNEL 방법을 이용한 세포 사멸과 Fas ligand에 대한 면역조직화학염색에서는 동량의 식염수를 주사한 대조군 및 시간 경과에 따른 모든 실험군에서 염증 세포에 대한 특별한 변화가 관찰되지 않았다. 이러한 결과로 내독소에 의한 포도막염은 전안부 포도막에 국한된 염증으로 나타났으나 침윤된 염증 세포에 대한 세포 사멸과 Fas ligand에 대한 면역조직화학 염색에는 침윤 염증 세포에 음성을 보였다. 이는 본 동물 모델에서 비교적 초기 염증 병변만이 관찰되었으므로 세포 사멸 및 Fas ligand와 밀접한 관련을 가진 림프구의 출현을 볼 수 없었던 것이 그 원인인 것으로 생각된다. Endotoxin induced uveitis model was produced by injection of Salmonella endotoxin (lipopolysaccharide, LPS) into foodpad of Lewis rats. The sequential histopathological changes were observed. In situ TUNEL method of apoptosis and immunohistochemical staining of Fas ligand were performed. Initial intraocular inflammatory signs were observed at 8 hours after LPS injection. These inflammatory signs were peaked at 48 hours and decreased at 72 hours after LPS injection. Histopathological changes were limited to anterior uvea, but apoptosis and Fas ligand expression on the infiltrating inflammatory cells were not observed. LPS induced uveitis in the rat provided an anterior uveitis, but apoptosis and Fas ligand expression on the infiltrating inflammatory cells were not observed in the experimental uveitis. In this study, the infiltration of lymphocytes was not observed, that might be closely related to apoptosis and Fas ligand, but acute inflammatory cells.

In spite of its rarity, hepatic angiosarcoma is of special interest because specific risk factors such as thorium dioxide, arsenic, and vinyl chloride have been identified. We report a case of histopathologically confirmed primary angiosarcoma of the liver which was found in a farmer. In this case, 73-year old man was presented with right upper abdominal pain and fatigue. Abdominal ultrasonography, CT scan and MRI revealed a mass occupying broad area of the right lobe of the liver. Histopathologic diagnosis of angiosarcoma was made by percutaneous needle biopsy.
