당대 경산사 지궁 출토 불사리장엄의 신연구

주경미 ( Ju Gyeong Mi ) 중국사학회 2004 中國史硏究 Vol.29 No.-

This paper is a comprehensive research on the Buddhist reliquaries from the underground chamber of Qingshan temple pagoda in Lintong, China. The ground chamber of was made in the 29th year of Kaiyuan(A.D. 741) of Emperor Xuanzong, T`ang Dynasty. In the ground chamber, there are many things which were buddhist reliquaries, esoteric buddhist ritual implements, and bronze or ceramic vessels. The underground chamber of Qingshan temple pagoda is constituted of a main chamber and corridors and most burials were in the main chamber. In the stone tablets, it was written by the name of the temple: 開元??山寺之寺. It means that the temple was a state temple named Kai-yuan temple. The reliquaries found in the center of the underground chamber was made of four-folds such as stone shrine, silver grand sarcophagus, gilt silver sarcophagus and glass bottle. Especially in stone shrine, four scenes from the Mahamaysutra are represented on four sides. The scenes are closely related, thus, one painter would have produced the whole. The scenes show Qthe Buddha`s last preaching, the Nirvana scene, the cremation and the distribution of sarira from the center in clockwise direction. The people in the paintings are depicted in the style of Wu Tao-zu and the landscape in the ancient Chinese style. The some objects from Qingshan temple pagoda are similar to those of Famen Temple in many ways, since both contained the strong influences of Esoteric Buddhism which the imperial family of T`ang practised. Among the various implements found, the ritual instruments of Esoteric Buddhism such as bronze incense burner with animal legs and short khakkhara(monk`s staff) are noteworthy, since they did not used in the buddhist relic rituals before the spreading of Esoteric Buddhism.
