This study was to propose an improvement direction in statistical indicators of public libraries to collect objective data from such libraries. This improvement direction was made by deriving from countable factors at the library. These were selected from various parts of the library sectors, such as the library-related laws, public library standard of our country, and statistical indicators of IFLA and other major countries. Also The these statistical indicator was compared to the current statistical indicator of public library in Korea. The results will be able to develop new draft of statistical indicator, which can be used in understanding the present situation of public libraries.

분야별 연구자들의 국내.외 문헌에 대한 의존도 비교 분석

The purpose of this study is to verify if there is any difference on researchers' language preference for citing documents in different subject fields. 8 scientific journals were selected one of each from 8 main categories, given by National Research Foundation of Korea. Five variables including the rate of citing domestic and foreign documents for each journals were choose, and the differences on language preference among researchers of different subject fields were checked by implementing ANOVA. As a result, there are some differences on language preference, in terms of the average number and percentage of foreign documents, among researchers, based on their subject background. It also found that 8 subject categories divided into 4 small clusters.

The purpose of this study is to see if reading guidances using the happy point books are effective. In this study, reading guidances were carried out to the 6th grade students of J Elementary School who have Enneagram Personality type 2. Books were selected as a source of reading guidance. These are self-growth theme books preferred by Enneagram Personality Type 4 students, a happy point of Enneagram Personality Type 2 students and books containing psychological functions of Enneagram Personality Type 4 students. A reading guidance was conducted in 14 sessions over a period of 5 weeks. Pre and post test using a measurement tool was implemented to measure the effectiveness of reading guidance in terms of emotional intelligence and self-esteem. And, written observation record cards and learning logs of the attendants were also made. As a result, the emotional intelligence and self-esteem of attendants appeared to be improved, and they are satisfied with reading guidance of applying to happy point books.

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of providing books to elementary school students that match their personality type on their reading attitude. For this purpose, this study investigated among the 226 elementary school students that are enrolled in fourth, fifth, and sixth grade classes at the elementary schools located in Gyeonggido, South Korea. The personality type of the students was determined by the Enneagram test. In this study, students were given with books that match their personality type and the effect of the provision was investigated. Main results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, the fact that books that match their own personality type made the children curious about the books, evoking their interest in reading. Second, the children exchanged their books with those who have similar personality type after they finish reading. As a result, the children could be exposed to more diverse books. Third, the students were curious about what kind of books were given to those with different personality type. The students responded that they want to read all of the different types of books too.

자동분류기반 성격 유형별 도서추천시스템 개발을 위한 실험적 연구

The purpose of this study is to develop an automatic classification system for recommending appropriate books of 9 enneagram personality types, using book information data reviewed by librarians. Data used for this study are book review of 501 recommended titles for children and young adults from National Library for Children and Young Adults. This study is implemented on the assumption that most people prefer different types of books, depending on their preference or personality type. Performance test for two different types of machine learning models, nonlinear kernel and linear kernel, composed of 360 clustering models with 6 different types of index term weighting and feature selections, and 10 feature selection critical mass were experimented. It is appeared that LIBLINEAR has better performance than that of LibSVM(RBF kernel). Although the performance of the developed system in this study is relatively below expectations, and the high level of difficulty in personality type base classification take into consideration, it is meaningful as a result of early stage of the experiment.

전자책 아카이빙을 위한 협력모형 개발에 관한 연구

The purpose of this study is to develop a collaborative model for the archiving and preservation of an electronic book(e-book). In this study the way of the archiving and preservation for the e-book to deal with the technology evolution was suggested. Accordingly, the survey was made for obtaining the present status of the production and distribution of the domestic Online e-book. It is the same as the operation status of the archiving and preservation for the Online e-book worldwide. A collaborative model for accessible to preserved data, regardless of time period, was proposed for archiving the e-book, based on the OAIS reference model. There are three different models, suggested for domestic; the safe place model by law, the individual preservation/Peer-to-Peer model, and the preservation center model for e-book archiving. Among them, the safe place model by law was proposed for the optimum model of archiving an e-book at present.

인터넷환경하에서 효율적 전송을 위한 문서형식에 관한 연구

Today, we are confronted with huge amount of data which contain complex documents, images and multimedia contents. Therefore a new method is needed to analyze and manage the mathematical expressions and extract new Information from them. It is more and more important to manage the document files including mathematical expressions which are generated by general-purpose word processors. Three major word processors are shared over 90% of domestic market. These are HWP, TeX and MS word. Due to the progress of Internet and digital library, it is necessary to develop a system to manage the document file containing mathematical expressions over the Web.

This study is aimed at investigating if there were the differences on citing behavior of researchers among different fields of engineering, in terms of five items, such as types of resources cited, the average number of documents cited, the demand of current documents, languages used in cited documents, and the life decrease phenomena of information. 29,160 cited references in 2,333 articles from 4 major selected journals, published in the year of 1999, 2001, and 2003 were analyzed. The result of this study shows that there were the differences on citing behavior of researchers among different fields of engineering on all 5 items. And also, some suggestions were given the priority of library collection and shelf arrangement for the library.

Medicinal herbs have been shown to have protective functions for skin and hair. We investigated the effects of complex of soluble β-cyclodextrin and phytochemicals on the functions of skin and hair. In previous report, we evaluated the safety of supramolecules and found their anti-microbial effects and anti-fungal effect against Gram (+) and Malassezia furfur which is known to cause dandruff. Here we present that functional supramolecules-containing cream promotes the biological skin activity by inducing the collagen formation. And treatment of supramolecules-containing hair tonic increased the rate of hair growth of mouse. Taken together, supramolecular cosmetic compounds containing water insoluble phytochemicals and water soluble β-cyclodextrin exhibit the potential ability for hair growth promotion and delaying the aging of skin.
