      • On the performance of self-correction based modified min-sum decoding algorithms for LDPC codes

        In this paper, we analyzed the performance of modified min-sum algorithms (MSA) for the decoding of low-density parity check codes. We focused on two self-correction based min-sum algorithms which erase variable node messages considered unreliable messages during decoding iterations. By comparing the error performances, it is confirmed that the self-correction based decoding algorithms have improved error performances compared with MSA and modified MSA.

        학문 목적 한국어 분야에서의 요구 분석 연구 동향 분석

        This paper presents a qualitative research synthesis of the studies on needs analysis in the field of Korean for academic purposes from 2003 to 2012. A total number of 47 research articles and theses/dissertations published during this period were classified and coded according to an analytic framework in terms of (1) types of analysis, (2) objects of analysis, (3) learner characteristics, (4) skills analysed, and (5) methods of analysis. The results show that (1) half of the studies took needs analysis as their main research topic, while the other half simply used needs analysis as one of their research methods; (2) the majority of the studies used questionnaires as their primary data collection method, and (3) the learner was the main object of analysis. The paper ends with suggestions for future research directions.

        가족 상호관계가 치매노인 가족원의 부담감에 미치는 영향

        본 연구의 목적은 치매노인과 가족원의 특성, 가족 상호관계가 치매노인 가족원의 부담감에 미치는 영향을 파악하는 것이다. 자료 수집은 2009년 9월 15일부터 2009년 12월 04일까지, 서울 및 경기도 소재 10개 치매주간 보호센터, 방문간호 사업소, 보건소 치매센터, 일 대학병원 신경정신과 외래 등에서 모집된 재가 치매노인의 가족원 151명을 대상으로 구조화된 설문지를 통해 이루어졌으며, 수집된 자료의 분석은 SPSS/Win version 17.0을 이용하여 실수와 백분율, 평균과 표준편차, t-test, ANOVA (Scheffe 사후검증), 피어슨 상관관계 분석(Pearson's correlation coefficient), 다중 회귀분석(multiple regression analysis)을 이용하였다. 연구결과, 주 가족원의 66.6%가 여성이었으며 관계별로는 배우자(26.7%)가 가장 많았다. 가족원의 부담감 평균 점수는 85.9점이었으며, 가족원의 부담감에 영향을 미치는 관련요인은 가족 상호관계, 가족이 인지한 치매노인의 일상생활 수행능력, 하루 평균 치매노인 돌봄 시간, 가족원의 건강상태로 전체 설명력은 40.7%를 나타내었다. 이 중 가족원의 부담감에 영향을 미치는 가장 중요한 관련요인은 가족 상호관계로 전체의 22.1%의 설명력을 나타내었다. 따라서 가족원의 부담감을 감소시키기 위한 중재방법에 고려해야할 사항 중 가족원 측면에서는 가족 상호관계와 건강상태를 증진시키고 하루 평균 치매노인을 돌보는 시간을 감소시켜 줄 수 있는 방안을, 치매노인 측면에서는 일상생활 수행능력을 증진 또는 유지시킬 수 있는 방안 마련이 필요함을 시사한다. The aim of this study was to examine the relation between primary family caregivers' burden and its related factors. The subjects were 151 primary family caregivers of older adults with dementia and a structured questionnaire was used for data collection. The majority of the primary caregivers was female (66.6%) and spouse(26.7%). The mean burden score was 85.9. The factors affecting the burden of primary family caregiver were Family Relationship, Caregiver's Perceived Patient's ADL, Average Caring Hours per Day, Health Status of Primary Family Caregiver (bad health), which explained 40.7% of their burden. Family relationship was the major factor, appearing as 22.1% of the burden. In the perspective of family, strategies to improve family relationship and health status and to decrease average caring hours per day are needed. In the perspective of older adults with dementia, strategies to improve and maintain ADL are needed.

        중국의 피카소 읽기: 피카소의 미술과 정치적 이념에 대한 수용과 해석

        이 연구는 1910년대부터 1950년대까지 파블로 피카소와 그의 미술이 중국에 유입, 확산된 정치사회적, 문화예술적 배경과 과정을 고찰한다. 국내 미술사학계에 거의 소개되지 않은 중국의 문헌자료 조사와 연구를 토대로, 중국이 주목한 피카소 미술의 면모와 논의를 살펴보고, 아울러서 1940년대 피카소의 정치적 표명에 따른 중국 내 그의 위상 변화를 논한다. 우선, 1917-1930년 사이에 중국에서 출간된 피카소 관련 간행물과 저술에 포함된 글 32개 및 16점의 도판을 정리하고, 또한 프랑스 유학파 출신 중국 미술가들 및 그들을 통해 미술교육 전반에 미친 피카소의 영향을 검토한다. 20세기 전반에 중국에서 피카소에 대한 논의는‘ 중서(中西)융합’의 맥락에서 다양한 서구 현대미술 양식이 유입된 과정에서 그를 입체주의 사조의 범주에서 주로 해석했다. 하지만 1940년대에 피카소의 프랑스 공산당 입당 이후, 중국에서 그는 예술적 특성보다 정치적 성향을 토대로 재평가된다. 그의 공산주의 이념 표명에 대한 중국의 반응은 1950년대 중국 정부가 일련의 우표에 그의‘ 평화 비둘기’ 그림을 실으면서 정점에 달한다. 이 시기에 피카소는 중국 미술계 및 미술교재 등 교육계를 비롯해, 중국 내에서 광범위한 위상과 인지도를 확보했다. 1940년대 이후 중국에서 사실주의(中國 現實主義) 경향이 미술주류가 되었음에도, 서구 모더니즘 경향 중에서 피카소의 미술이 적극 수용된 상황은 정치적 맥락과 불가분한 특성을 보여준다. With the rise of the Chinese New Culture Movement in the early twentieth century, the Chinese art world began to explore the diverse styles of Western modern art. The Chinese reception of Picasso and his Cubist art was part of China’s various experiments with European modern artistic movements in broad contexts. Based on a close examination of contemporary artistic and cultural materials from 1917 to 1930, this paper demonstrates that at least thirty-two Chinese articles and writings introduced Picasso’s Cubism, with more than sixteen of his works illustrated in Chinese periodicals and books. It also deals with the on-going pros and cons of Picasso’s avant-garde style as well as European modern art among representative artists and theorists in China of the period. The Chinese interest in Picasso reached its pinnacle after 1944, when the news of Picasso joining the Communist party in France became wide-spread, eventually leading even the Chinese government to utilize the artist’s “peace of dove” paintings on national postal stamps between 1950-1953. Although China’s response to Picasso initially developed as an ardent interest in modernist artistic ideas and styles, it later became more focused on the artist’s political ideology, evoking strong social and cultural reactions and bringing profound effects to the Chinese art world.

        쓰기 과제에 대한 협력적 글쓰기 활동의 효과성 연구

        This study aims to analyze the process of how Chinese students practice collaborative writing and to figure out whether collaborative writing is useful to Korean language learners for academic purposes. In total, 15 Chinese students of Korean language for academic purposes participated in the research and they were divided into Groups A and B, respectively. Five participants of Group A were individually assigned with writing tasks while ten participants of Group B conducted collaborative writing tasks in pairs. Groups A and B conducted both tasks of a data commentary and an argumentative essay. The result was that fluency and complexity were not significantly different between Groups A and B. However, accuracy was higher in Group B. Accordingly, for students of Korean language in an advanced level, collaborative writing activities did not result in longer texts or more complex linguistic practices but led to more accurate texts. Whether this accuracy will strengthen grammatical knowledge of language students in an advanced level in the long-term is unknown, so follow-up studies are needed.

        루이스 나우라의 『코지』: 치유의 메타드라마

        Over the course of this article I will attempt to extract some of the metatheatrical devices in Cosi and assess their therapeutic functionality. The ultimate premise of the metatheatre, “All the world’s a stage”, can be a good way to illuminate Louis Nowra’s world of dramaturgy, its characteristics, its plot, and the ultimate intentions of the play, Cosi. The dictum, “All the world’s a stage” implies that the world on the stage stands at the same level as the world of reality. Devices like play within the play, self-consciously theatrical characters and commentary on the theatre itself make the audience contemplate on the true nature of reality. Cosi unequivocally establishes that the audience are here to watch a play. Ultimately “all the world is a stage” is a bold declaration that the whole Australia as the stage, an asylum with its arbitrary rules and institutions. The setting and the actors serve to expose the frailties and absurdities of human condition. For Nowra metatheatricality is not merely an alienation device, but an instrument employed not only to exact a rational criticism of the world they are in but also to enlighten to the need of love, the ultimate saving force of society and people in it. In the course of Cosi, Louis/Lewis understands and responds to the extraordinary visions of the inmates of the asylum and becomes a therapist for them.

        중국 정보통신 혁신산업에서의 국가의 역할: 혁신 발전국가

        본 연구는 미-중 무역 전쟁에 대한 두 가지 질문에서 시작되었다. 타이밍과 핵심 분쟁 사유―기술 부문에서의 분쟁―에 대해 주목하고, 그 원인에 대해 장기적 국가 경제 발전 차원에서의 기술 혁신의 역할에 주목한다. 중국의 기술 혁신의 선봉장에 있는 두 기업 ― ZTE ― 의 발전 과정과 중국의 일대일로 추진 후 급속해진 중국의 혁신 기술 발전. 장기적 성장 동력으로서 가지는 중요성이 더욱 사활을 좌우하는 상황에서, 본 연구는 이들 혁신 기업의 가장 대표적인 성공의 견인차 역할을 세계화 과정과 역학습 전략에 초점을 맞추어 기업 레벨에서의 혁신 기술의 국제 시장 진출의 성공 요인과, 국가 레벨에서의 중국 정부의 거시 경제 정책에서의 측면을 고찰한다. 이를 통해 국가의 적극적인 역할과 개입이 기술 혁신의 발전에 더욱 용이하게 작동할 수 있는 예를 제공하고자 한다. 이는 기술 혁신에 사적 소유 기업의 인센티브와 자유로운 연구 개발 활동이 유리하다는 기존의 논의와 달리, 국가의 적극적인 역할이 두드러지는 권위주의 체제에서도 혁신 기술 발전과 추격이 가능함을 보여 줄 수 있다. This paper will consider the question, “Why do certain countries maintain continuous economic growth while others cannot?” In other words, how do certain countries like China maintain momentum in longterm growth through innovation, while simultaneously transforming itself from a manufacturing state to a state that can export high-technology, while others fall into the hands of oligarchs and fail to do so? For long-term growth in the modern era, the role of the latter is even more important. In other words, to maintain the momentum of further growth, knowledge, human capital, and now innovation are inevitably the most important sources for developing countries. This paper will consider such a point of view, focusing on the growing role of innovation for sustainable economic growth. From such a perspective, the study focuses on examining the representative firm-level strategies of China’s telecommunication giant, ZTE, and the Chinese government’s active support through its macroeconomic policies and institutionalization.

        방송 영상 콘텐츠 정보 이용 행위의 매개효과 분석

        This study analyzed the relationship between multi-platform users’ information-seeking behavior and viewing. In this study, the process of broadcasting content consumption is divided into two different stages (i.e., information seeking and viewing). The study examined whether information-seeking behavior mediates the relationship between audiences’ motivation to watch and viewing. The results of this study suggest that habitual browsing and text information provided by the production company were significant indicators of viewing time. Both habitual browsing and purposive searching were significant predictors of willingness to pay for content. With regard to the type of information sought, consumption of information offered by the production company as well as the comments provided by other viewers were significant indicators of their willingness to pay for content. In sum, this study found that in a multi-platform environment, seeking information about broadcasting content plays an important role in viewing behavior. In addition to its finding that different behaviors of information seeking mattered, another meaningful phenomenon discovered by this study is that the result of the broadcasting content viewing varied depending on what type of information is frequently sought by the user.

        미국 초기 모더니즘 속의 자연과 ‘여성성’

        This article is based on my paper presented at the symposium, “Art in Ecology, Nature, and Environment,” held in Seoul in May, 2012. I investigate several American women artists who, in and around the Stieglitz Circle, worked closely with the theme of nature and environment in the era of early American modernism. Through discussions of the life, place, dress code, and art of Anne Brigman, together with those of Georgia O’Keeffe, Pamela Colman Smith, and Mabel Dodge Luhan, this article reexamines these artists in the light of recent feminist and ecological themes, particularly, cultural ecofeminist ideas. In my study of them as precursors of contemporary ecofeminist art, I investigate these women artists on how they challenged gender stereotypes and feminine identity in the patriarchal society of the late 19th and early 20th centuries as well as the hierarchical value-dualism that is characteristic of such a society--male vs. female, culture (man) vs. nature, reason vs. emotion, mind vs. body--in which the former was considered superior to the latter and was justified to dominate the other. The lifestyle and work of these artists demonstrate the counter-cultural images that they established against contemporaneous society’s dualistic value system; the artists’ unified images of nature and women are presented not as inferior to, but as equivalent to those of culture and men. They also worked against upper-middle class feminine stereotypical images such as motherhood, the trophy wife, the ideal Venus, or the femme fatale. Their counter-cultural images were further strengthened by their preference to reside in less-hierarchical locations such as California or New Mexico, far from New York, the center of modern art world; their androgynous images of everyday life and habits like cross-dressing; and their expressions for female liberation. Early modern women artists’ endeavors to escape from men/culture-centrism and conventional gender boundaries; their efforts to reevaluate and recreate the feminine body; and their search for a new paradigm for ‘femininity’ as well as the coexistence of men, women, and nature in their lives and works suggest that within the limit of their own time and space, they struggled with similar issues that contemporary ecofeminist artists have been facing but have yet to reconcile.
