연구배경 사용자 경험(User Experience, 이하 UX)은 과거와 비교할 수 없을 정도로 광의의 개념으로 성숙되었으며 그 중요성이 더욱 커졌다. 그러나 UX의 다학제적, 융합적 특성으로 인해 합의된 보편적 정의의 부재로 교육과 실무 분야에서 혼란을 야기하고 있다. 따라서 실무에서 요구하는 인재 양성을 위해 국내 현황을 살펴보고 핵심 역량을 명확히 파악하는 것이 필요하다. 연구방법 국내 실무 현장에서 통용되는 UX디자이너의 역할 범주 및 요구되는 역량을 파악하기 위해 국내 구인광고 현황을 분석하였으며, 이후 더욱 면밀한 논의 및 분석을 위해 UX디자인 실무진을 대상으로 인터뷰를 병행하였다. 연구결과 분석 결과 UX디자이너가 앱이나 웹 이외의 브랜딩, 콘텐츠 디자인 등의 다양한 영역에도 관여하는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 따라 전반적인 산업 및 업무 프로세스에 대한 이해, 협업 능력, 커뮤니케이션 스킬 등이 핵심 역량으로 강조되었으며 UX디자인 구현을 위한 테크니컬 스킬, 태도 또한 중요한 능력으로 요구되었다. 결론 UX디자이너에게 다양한 범주와 역할, 역량이 요구되는 만큼, 해당 분야에 대한 광범위한 전문 지식을 갖추는 것이 중요하며, UX에서 필요로 하는 다양한 분야에 지속적인 관심을 가지고 폭넓게 접근하며 차별화된 본인만의 핵심 역량을 가진 인재 양성이 요구된다. 본 연구는 다양한 산업영역에서 UX디자인의 역할이 증대되고 있는 만큼 UX디자이너의 업무 현황을 파악하고 핵심 역량을 논의하였다는 데 의의가 있으며 UX디자인의 실무와 교육 사이의 간극을 줄이는 데 기여할 것으로 기대된다. Background The concept of User Experience(UX) has evolved into a broader concept, and its importance has grown even greater. However, due to the multidisciplinary and convergent nature of UX, the lack of consensus in universal definition is causing confusion in the education and practice. Therefore, it is necessary to examine the current status of UX design in Korea and clearly understand the key competencies to foster human resources required in practice. Methods In order to identify the roles and required competencies of UX designers, the job advertisements in Korea was analyzed. Then, interviews with UX design practitioners were conducted for more detailed discussion and analysis. Result As a result of the study, it was found that UX designers are involved in various areas such as branding and content design as well as applications and websites. Accordingly, understanding of the overall industry and work process, collaboration skills, and communication skills were emphasized as core competencies, and technical skills for implementing UX design, and active attitude were also required as important capabilities. Conclusion As various roles and competencies are required by UX designers, it is important for UX designers to have extensive expertise in related fields. Therefore, it is required to foster talented UX designers who have their core unique competencies with continuous interest and development. As the role of UX design is increasing in various industries, this study is meaningful in exploring current status of UX designers’ role and discussing core competencies and expected to contribute to narrowing the gap between practice and education of UX design.
