        산지별 더덕 추출물의 폐암 및 난소암에 대한 항암 효능

        Codonopsis lanceolata L. (Campanulaceae) has long been used in traditional Korean medicine to treat bronchitis, cough, and inflammatory diseases, however, the efficacy of anti-tumor activities remains to be defined. In this study the effects of Codonopsis lanceolata (C. lanceolata) on proliferation, migration and adhesion in lung (A549, H1299) and ovarian cancer (SKOV-3) cells were investigated. To assess and compare the pharmacological effects and production places of C. lanceolata, the ethanolic extracts of C. lanceolata from different places in Korea (Hongseong, Yecheon, Yeongwol, Yanggu, Gangjin, and Hoengseong) were prepared. The extract from Hoengseong county did have only marginal anti-proliferative activity in all the cell lines tested, however, other extracts had little or no effect on cell proliferation. The extracts from Hongseong, Gangjin or Hoengseong county had partial anti-migratory activity in lung cancer cells, but not in ovarian cancer cells. In addition, the extract from Hoengseong county had partial anti-adhesive activity in ovarian cancer cells, however, other extracts did not affect cell adhesion in both lung and ovarian cancer cells. Taken together, these findings provide the first description of anti-tumor efficacy of C. lanceolata from different production places in Korea, and suggest that C. lanceolata from Hoengseong county may have therapeutic potential in lung and ovarian cancers.

        서번트 리더십이 감성지능에 따라 조직 시민행동에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

        본 연구에서는 서번트 리더십이 조직시민행동에 미치는 영향과 그 영향관계에 감성지능이 미치는 조절효과를 알아보고자 하였다. 서번트 리더십과 조직시민행동은 하위 구성 차원들을 하나의 변수로 고려하였지만, 감성지능은 4개의 구성 차원인 감성 인식, 감성 표현, 감성 조절, 감성 활용으로 나누어 각각의 조절효과를 분석하였다. 분석에 사용된 자료는 122명의 응답자를 대상으로 하였으며, 분석결과 서번트 리더십은 조직시민행동에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 감성지능의 조절효과는 부분적으로 나타났다. 즉 감성지능의 하위 차원 중에서 감성 인식과 감성 활용은 제외하고 감성 표현과 감성 조절만이 서번트 리더십과 조직시민행동과의 관계에 조절효과를 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구가 주는 의미는 서번트 리더십이 조직성과를 제고하는데 중요한 역할을 할 수 있다는 것이며, 아울러 리더가 종업원 개인에 대한 배려와 조력자로서 역할을 충실히 수행한다 하여도 종업원 개인의 감성에 대한 인식이 부족할 때는 이러한 리더십의 효과가 줄어들 수 있다는 것이다. 아울러 본 연구는 서번트 리더십이라는 신조류의 리더십이론을 종업원 개개인의 감성지능에 따라 조직시민행동에 미치는 영향을 검증한 것으로 의미가 있다고 할 것이다. This study is intended to understand the influence of servant leadership on organizational citizenship behavior and moderating effect of emotional intelligence on that relationship. To analyze moderating effect of emotional intelligence, four sub-dimensions of which are separately considered: emotional awareness, emotional presentation, emotional adjustment, emotional utilization. Data were collected from 122 respondents. Result shows that servant leadership is positively related to organizational citizenship behavior and moderating effect of emotional intelligence is partially accepted, that is, emotional presentation and emotional adjustment have moderating effect on the relation between servant leadership and organizational citizenship behavior but emotional awareness and emotional utilization show no moderating effect. Result of this study implies that servant leadership plays an important role in enhancing organizational performance and such a role might be diminished if leader could not recognize employees` individual emotional intelligence. This study also contribute to theory building in new leadership area by empirically testing an effect of servant leadership on organizational citizenship behavior with emotional intelligence.

        Balb/c 마우스에서 초과 추출물의 3주간 반복 경구투여 독성평가

        Abstract In the present study, we investigated the oral toxicity of Amomum tsao-ko Crevost et Lemaire, (Zingiberaceae) extract in Balb/c mice (BALB, n=60) for 3 weeks. Balb/c mice (10 mice/ group, 6 group, 20±2 g, 6 weeks) were orally administered for 21 days, with dosage of 250, 500, 1000, 2000 mg/kg/day. Ethanolextract of A. tsao-ko did not affect any significant change of mortality, clinical signs, organs and body weights. Also, there were not significantly difference from the naive group (control) in hematological and serum biochemical examination. Consequently, these findings indicate that 3-week treatment with the ethanol extract of A. tsao-ko was not any toxic effects in Balb/c mice and the no-observed adverse effect level (NOAEL) for oral toxicity was determined to be 2000 mg/kg/day under our experimental conditions.

        산지별 곰취 에탄올 추출물의 항산화 효능

        Ligularia fischeri (LF) (Ledebour) Turczaninow (Compositae) has been used as a medicine to treat erysipelas, scarlet fever, and rheumatic arthritis in traditional eastern Asia including Korea, China, and Japan. In this study, we investigated the anti-oxidant effect of LF using a variety of in vitro systems, DPPH, ABTS, and ORAC. To assess and compare the anti-oxidant effect and production places of LF, the ethanolic extract of LF from different places in Korea (Taebaek, Jeongseon, Yanggu, Pyeongchang, and Inje) were prepared. However, only the extract from Injecounty did have anti-oxidant activity, while other extract had little or no anti-oxidant activity. In addition, the compounds of LF ethanolic extract from Inje-area, such as chlorogenic acid, neochlorogenic acid, isochlorogenic acid A, isochlorogenic acid B, and isochlorogenic acid C were investigated in the same analysis. Isochlorogenic acid B and isochlorogenic acid C were the best effect of anti-oxidant among these compounds. Taken together, these findings provide the first description of anti-oxidant activities of LF from different production places in Korea, and suggest that LF from Inje-area has anti-oxidant effect.

        Tissue Inhibitor of Metalloproteinases-2와 Endostatin의 혈관신생 제어 효능 평가

        Therapeutic manipulation of angiogenesis, the formation of new vascular sprouts from existing capillaries, is one of the promising strategies for treatment of human diseases such as cancer, arthritis, and cardiovascular disorder. In the present study, we examined the effects and molecular mechanism of tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-2 (TIMP-2) and endostatin on fibroblast growth factor-2 (FGF-2)-stimulated endothelial cell proliferation, migration and adhesion in vitro, and angiogenesis in vivo. TIMP-2 and endostatin showed potent anti-angiogenic activity in vitro and in vivo. These effects appear to be mediated through different angiogenic signaling pathways. Collectively, our findings demonstrate that TIMP-2 and endostatin strongly inhibit FGF-2-induced angiogenic responses, and the establishment of fast and reproducible evaluation system in vitro and in vivo for the development of anti-angiogenic biomaterials and therapeutics.

        In the present study, we investigated the biological activities of Xylosma congesta leaf ethanol extract (XCO) using a variety of in vitro and cell culture model systems for antimelanogenic, anti-wrinkle, anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant activities. First, XCO markedly inhibited α-melanocyte stimulating hormone-stimulated melanin synthesis in B16F10 cells. Secondly, XCO marginally induced procollagen synthesis in CCD-986SK cells. Thirdly, XCO dose-dependently suppressed lipopolysaccharideinduced nitric oxide (NO) production in RAW 264.7 cells. XCO did not affect cell viability at different concentrations used in this study, indicating that XCO-mediated inhibition of melanin,procollagen and NO synthesis is not mediated by cytotoxicity. Finally, XCO was found to exert anti-oxidant effect. Taken together, these findings demonstrate for the first time that XCO possesses anti-melanogenic, anti-wrinkle, anti-inflammatory andanti-oxidant activities, and suggest further evaluation and development of XCO as a functional supplement or cosmetic that may be useful for whitening skin, reducing wrinkles and treating inflammatory responses.
