Objectives; The study analyzes the medical check-up data of enlisted corporal in 2003 from Korea Association of Health Promotion and examines descriptive characteristics between medical check-up results and health behaviors of one selected division. Methods; The design of the study is secondary data analysis. Included data are 62,439 cases after excluding missing data from the total of 64,696 cases provided by Korea Association of Health Promotion and 1,976 cases of first mid-year medical questionnaire record of the one division and medical check-up results. The data were analyzed by 20.0 SPSS program for descriptive characteristic and Chi-square test(χ2). Results; Of 62,439 cases, large proportion of abnormal lab results are Creatine (3556, 5.7%), HDL(2922, 4.7%), ALT(2118, 3.4%). Depending on family history of HTN, there were statistical difference on SBP, BMI, total cholesterol and LDL. In addition, depending on past history of smoking, there were also statistical difference on SBP, total cholesterol, HLD and LDL. Lastly, depending on the number of physical activity, there were statistical difference on SBP, DBP and Hb. Conclusions; Medical check-up for enlisted soldiers should not carry out formally, but there should be thorough follow-up based on the results so that it can contribute to disease prevention and health promotion for the soldiers. Moreover, it is necessary to provide care for those who have family history of HTN and perform health promotion service focusing on smoking cessation and physical activity.
유연성 증진 프로그램이 청소년 군인자녀의 유연성, 사회적 기술, 문제해결능력에 미치는 영향

Purpose: This study was performed to test the influence of resilience enhancing program on resilience, social skill and problem solving ability of adolescents in military families. Methods: Survey was conducted after receiving parents`` consent. The entire junior class students of a middle school, whose parents at least one of them are officers or NCOs, participated in the 5-week resilience program focusing on increasing social skill and problem solving ability. Surveys were conducted before and after the program. Finally, 72 data was utilized during the analyze. Results: After undertaking the program, participants`` resilience (t=-2.955, p=.004) and social skill (t=-3.086, p=.003) were increased significantly, but problem solving ability did not demonstrate clear change. Conclusion: According to results, researchers recommend further studies to consider more traits associated with resilience and prolong the period. Furthermore, programs are needed in raising problem solving ability based on understanding military environment.
생태학적 모델을 이용한 육군 초급간부의 건강교육 실태조사

Purpose: This study was done to systemize of health education in the Korean Army in order to identify the relationships among interpersonal, institutional, community factors and the health education. Methods: The design was done with the between method triangulation using interview and semi-structured questionnaire survey. Data were collected from Oct 1 to Dec 15, 2011. The qualitative data were analyzed by the analytic method of Colaizzi. The quantitative data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, χ2 test & Logistic Regression via SPSS WIN 12.0 program. Results: The result shows that regular infantry division spends much more time in health education than either homeland defense infantry division or reserve infantry division. The result of logistic regression analysis reveal that method of health education was not associated with institutional factor, whereas medical personnel instructors were 46.9 times more than non-medical personnel was associated with institutional factor. Conclusion: The findings of this study indicate that the systemization of health education is not associated with factors an education methods, but rather with the time, content, instructors of education. Thus, a policy-based approach considering of institutional factors is required to enhance the systemization of health education for health equity.
수요자 요구에 근거한 국군간호사관학교 훈육프로그램 개발

Purpose : A purpose of this study was to examine the demands of discipline program and develop the program suitable to cadets. Methods : This study was conducted in methodological study with the analysis and the design steps of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation(ADDIE) among instructional design models. First, on the analysis step, in order to examine the necessity of the discipline program, focused group interview of 16 novice nursing officers and 8 experienced nursing officers who were in charge of disciplinary action was conducted. Secondly, on the design step, analysis of discipline programs of 4-military academy including Armed Forces Nursing Academy (AFNA) was held. Then, content validity of the program was verified with six of current officers. Results : The developed discipline program suggested 19-specific programs and management methods. And the guiding course for discipline program and 4 extra programs were added to the original. Conclusion : This study has a great significance in the aspect of presenting diverse characteristics and practical needs to the discipline program at AFNA.

Purpose : This study examines the difference between civilian nurses and military nursing officers on disaster preparedness. Methods : This study followed a cross-sectional survey design. Using convenient sampling, the research participants were 400 nurses from five civilian hospitals and four military hospitals. Disaster preparedness, disaster education and experience related to disaster were surveyed using the self-reported questionnaire. The data were analyzed using t-test, χ(2)-test, ANOVA and Duncan test. Results : The participants reported moderate score (3.03±0.51) of disaster preparedness. Military nursing officers` disaster preparedness score (3.15±0.48) was higher than that of civilian nurses (2.92±0.50). There were some difference on several disaster educations and disaster-related experience between civilian nurses and military nursing officers. Conclusion : Based on the results of this study, it is possible to witness that civilian nurses and military nursing officers have numerous differences on disaster preparedness, disaster education and disaster-related experience. In addition, the key findings of this study will offer valuable information on the review and alteration of disaster education program.

Purpose : This study analyzes the completion level of the trauma nursing education courses and the educational needs for nurses working at the regional trauma centers. Methods : The study used triangulation method. To develop questionnaires, Focus group interviews with nurses from 3 trauma centers followed by Colaizzi`s phenomenological methodology were conducted. 228 nurses working at 5 trauma centers were recruited to participate in a self-administered survey. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics for the completion level of trauma nursing, importance of trauma nursing education course & performance frequency. Paired t-test was used to compare deference between the importance of trauma nursing education course & performance frequency. Results : Only 28.9% of trauma nurses have completed the trauma nursing education courses. By the survey, each of the importance scale about nursing task in trauma center scored on average 4.13±0.82(Likert 5 scale). Especially, shock patient nursing scored the highest importance nursing task, followed by airway and ventilation, thoracic and neck trauma nursing. Among 41 trauma nursing educational section, 40 subjects had significant difference between the importance and frequency. Furthermore, the study analyzed that there is a high demand on education about the most recent trends related to trauma and the equipments. Conclusion : The study indicated needs to establish requirements as trauma nurses and reexamine trauma nursing competency. In addition, standardized trauma nursing education courses needs to be developed reflecting educational needs and frequently performed skills in clinical area.
