Since LED bulb market has been increasing, the heat problem of the LED bulb is emerging. So many studies have been carried out to solve this problem. The purpose of this study is to improve the efficiency of the heat sink used for the LED bulb. The standard heat sink in this study is commercial product. Its size and capacity are Φ110㎜ × 60㎜ and 35W. Using the theory of the fluid mechanics and heat transfer, we have proposed a new heat sink design. Then, the results have been verified by the numerical method. Finally, the prototype experiment was conducted to validate the numerical results. From redesign, the volume is decreased by 52.8%, so its size is Φ110㎜ × 45㎜. Also, the temperature has been maintained about 75℃. This result can be used to reduce the price or to increase the utilization.
