In many industrial plants, foaming at liquid surfaces can reduce process efficiency and cause environmental problems with waste discharge. In most industrial sites, such as wastewater treatment plants, it is necessary to remove foam to improve water quality and process efficiency. The formation of persistent foams can be a critical problem in wastewater treatment since it can lead to operational issues and reduce the overall system performance. For basic research for the development of new defoamers, we tested defoamers for wastewater treatment. A 50% (v/v) water-dispersible foaming liquid was prepared using a foaming agent-A. Two types of defoaming agents were tested: silicone emulsion anti-foaming agents, B and C, and non-silicone oil anti-foaming agents, corn oil and mineral oil. The defoaming properties of these substances were tested as a function of pH, defoamer concentration, viscosity of defoamer dispersion, and defoamer storage period. At a pH of 3, 5, and 7, the defoaming by the silicone oil emulsion and non-silicone oil was greater than 80% effective. The foam quantity (L/min) of the silicone-based defoamer was lower even at lower concentrations than the non-silicone corn oil and mineral oil. At lower pH, the viscosity of the defoamer dispersions was slightly higher. We observed little difference in defoaming capacity after 30 days of storage.
금속재와 적층복합재 면재를 갖는 샌드위치 패널의 저속충격 특성 연구

In this paper, the low velocity response of four different sandwich panels with metal and laminate composite facesheets has been investigated by conducting drop- weight impact tests using an instrumented falling-weight impact tower. Square samples of 100m m sides were subjected low-velocity impact loading using an instrumented testing machine at six energy levels. Impact para meters like maximum force, time to maximum force, deflection at maximum force and absorbed energy were evaluated and compared for four different types of sandwich panels. The impact test results show that sandwich panel with composite laminate facesheet could not observe damage mode of a permanent visible indentation after impact and has a good impact damage resistance in comparison with sandwich panel with metal aluminum facesheet.

Fatigue fracture behavior of a hybrid bolted joint was evaluated in comparison to the case of static fracture. Two kinds of specimens were fabricated for fatigue assessment; hybrid composite joint specimen with bolted joint for shear test and hybrid joint part specimen applied in the real tilting train for bending test. Characteristic fracture behaviors of those specimens under cyclic loads were obviously different from the case under static loads. For hybrid composite joint specimen, static shear caused the fracture of a pure shear mode in the bolted body, whereas cyclic-shear loading brought about the fracture at the site of local tensile stress concentration. For hybrid joint part specimen, static loading caused the shear deformation and fracture in the honeycomb core region, while cyclic loading did the delaminationat the interface between composite skin layer and honeycomb core and did the fracture of welded joint part. Experimental results obtained by static and fatigue tests were considered in modifications of design parameters of the hybrid joint.

Background/Aims: In chronic hepatitis C, the Fas/Fas ligand-mediated apoptosis is involved in the hepatic injury. The soluble forms of Fas and Fas ligand have been detected in serum and shown to inhibit Fas-mediated apoptosis. In the present study, we evaluated the relationships between the serum level of soluble Fas/Fas ligand and their histological and biochemical activities to elucidate the role of Fas system in pathogenesis of chronic hepatitis C. Methods: Liver biopsy samples were graded according to the Knodell`s Histologic Activity Index and immunohistochemically stained for Fas and Fas ligand. Serum soluble Fas and Fas ligand levels of chronic hepatitis C patients were compared with those of control group. These levels were compared with histological activities, ALT levels and Fas expression grades. Results: Serum soluble Fas levels in patients with chronic hepatitis C were higher than those in the control group, although it is not statistically significant. Soluble Fas level in patients with moderate and marked intralobular inflammation were higher significantly than those in control group. There was a positive relationship between the grade of Fas expression and HAI score. Conclusions: These findings suggest the possibility that the concentration of soluble Fas is associated with severity of intralobular inflammation in patients with chronic hepatitis C. 맛버섯 10계통의 에탄올 추출물에 대한 polyphenol 및 β-glucan 함량을 분석하고, 생리활성으로 항산화 및 항암, 항고혈압, 항당뇨, 항염활성을 측정하였다. Polyphenol 함량에서는 전 계통에서 전반적으로 40 mg% 함량 이상이였고, 맛버섯 M-1548이 61.50±0.59 mg%로 가장 높았다. β-glucan 함량에서도 맛버섯 M-1548에서 37.2±1.12%로 가장 높았으며, 그 외에 맛버섯 M-900에서 36.35±1.11%, M-1630에서 36.24±1.27%의 순서로 높은 β-glucan 함량을 나타냈다. 항당뇨 활성에서도 역시 맛버섯 M-1548이 13.78±0.56%로 가장 높은 효소 저해율을 보였으나 항염 활성에서는 맛버섯 M-1630이 56.59±7.11%로 가장 높은 nitric oxide 저해율을 보였으며 맛버섯 M-1548은 26.21±0.5%로 미미한 저해율을 보였다. 전자공여능 및 ACE 저해활성, nitrite 저해활성은 효과가 없거나 미미한 활성만을 나타냈다. 세포독성 실험에서는 1 mg/mL로 처리시 폐암세포에 대해 전반적으로 30%이상의 세포 사멸율을 보였으며, 자궁경부암세포에서도 맛버섯 M-1548에서 10.05±0.44%의 세포 사멸율을 보였다. 그러나 대장암세포와 정상세포인 섬유아세포에서는 세포 사멸율이 나타나지 않았다. 따라서 맛버섯 10계통은 폐암세포와 자궁경부암세포에 세포 독성을 나타내는 것으로 보아 암세포에 대한 선택성을 갖고 있음을 알 수 있고 정상세포에 대해선 세포 독성을 나타내지 않는 걸 확인하였다. This study was conducted to investigate the physiological activities of the ethanol extracts from 10 different strains of Pholiota nameko. In addition, the β -glucan and polyphenol contents from these strains were also measured. Total polyphenol contents from all the strains were more than 40 mg% with the highest content of 61.50±0.59 mg% and β -glucan contents were 30% with the highest content of 37.20±1.12%. The highest inhibitory activities on α -amyloglucosidase activity and nitric oxide production were 13.78±0.56% and 56.59±7.11%, respectively. However, ethanol extracts from all the strains have little effects on DPPH radical and nitrite scavenging rates and the activity of angiotensin I converting enzyme. The cytotoxic activity of ethanol extracts from all the strains on A549 cell was shown upto 30% with the highest effect of 47.96±8.46% treated at 1 mg/mL concentration.
