As most of today’s automatic transmissions in passenger cars adopt a electro-hydraulic control system, the role of electronically controlled solenoid valves occupies an important position and it is essential to predict the transient characteristics of the solenoid valves in order to design and evaluate the performance of the hydraulic control system. However. In general. Both the magnetic and electrical parameters of the solenoid system are hardly known and it is not easy to model this section with moderate complexity. This paper presents a dynamic modeling technique of a proportional control solenoid valve(PCSV) for an automatic transmission in terms of system identification theory. We can find that this approach make a good result to represent the performance of PCSV.<br/>

In general. the electronically controlled pulse width modulation (PWM) solenoid valve as a hydraulic actuator in the automatic transmission has only small capacity because of the limited size and electric power consumption. So it is necessary to combine with a reducing type second stage valve. so called pressure control valve(PCV). to amplify the pressure and the flow rate. The behavior of the PCV which is driven by the PWM solenoid valve is quite different from the normal reducing type valve. In this paper. a theoretical model of the PCV considering flow forces is presented. and its steady state characteristics are analyzed to predict the dynamics. Also. we find that there are good matches between the dynamic simulation results and the experimantal data. Therefore. the model constructed in this article 'can be used to predict a macroscopic performance of the PCV.

Nowadays. most automatic transmissions of passenger cars adopt an electronically controlled shifting mechanism to enhance the driveability and fuel economy. INVECS-II automatic transmission is developed by Mitsubishi Motor Company and equipped with electronic control system. Its major design features are that clutch-to-clutch shifting mechanism is employed for simplified construction and lighter weight and four independently operated PWM solenoid valves control the applying pressure on the friction elements during shift. In this paper. a dynamic model of INVECS-II automatic transmission is established to investigate the shifting characteristics and verify the validity of the proposed open-loop pressure control strategy in torque phase. The shifting response of simulation model shows good agreement with experimental result and static torque analysis results for torque phase are proved to be useful in terms of computer simlation.

INVECS-Ⅱ AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IS RECENTLY DEVELOPED BY Mitsubishi Motor Company and equipped with full electronic control system. Its major design features are that clutch-to-clutch shifting mechanism for simplified construction and lighter weight and four independently operated PWM solenoid valves control the applying pressure on the friction elements during shift. However. Since flow control characteristic of the solenoid valve itself is not enough to meet the required pressure dynamics for shifting control. Second stage pressure control valve for each solenoid valve is designed in order to amplify the control flow. Besides. For each control element. There is a accumulator to ger rid of the ripple pressure due to the low carrier frequency of PWM driving circuit. Hence. In view of these aspects. Hydraulic control system have complicated design with many elements.<br/> In this paper. INVECS-Ⅱ automatic transmission was redesigned with proportional control soldenoid valves which control pressures are directly applied to control elements and modified transmission was tested on dynamometer to investigate its shifting characteristics. We adopted closed-loop control algorithm and designed a controller based on the linearized turbine dynamics model that is proposed in this paper.<br/>

This experiment was conducted under the joint research work on lowland rice fertilization. The result was summarized as described below. 1. Nitrogen played a determinative role in growth, tillering, and yield of rice plants. 2. The adequate amount of nitrogen to be applied at the time of basic application here was considered to be over 3 kg per 10 are. 3. The uptake of nitrogen from the fertilizer by rice plants was most efficient when the fertilizer was applied at the time of prime growth. However, the most efficient utilization of nitrogen did not necessarily acompany the maximum yield of rice. 4. The basic application and carly top dressing of the fertilizer appeared to be efficient for betterment of rice yeild. 5. the efficiency of phosphorus was not likely affected by time and rate of nitrogen application.
