At the end of 1999, the TeraCluster Project in the KISTI Supercomputing Center was initiated to explore the possibility of PC clusters as a scientific computing platform to replace the Cray T3E system in KISTI by 2002. Since actual performance of a computing system varies significantly for different architectures, representative in-house codes from major application fields were executed to evaluate the actual performance of systems with different combination of CPU, network and network topology. As an example of practical CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations, the flow past the Onera-M6 wing and the flow past a infinite wing were simulated on a clusters of Linux and several other hardware environments.

The Gird is a communication service that collaborates dispersed high performance computers, large-scale databases and modern equipments so that those can be shared and worked together. In this paper, CFD research based on National Grid project is discussed. To validate the Grid technology, the flow past ONERA M6 wing and the flow past infinite wing are simulated on the National Grid testbed.
공간 및 시간 정확도 향상을 위한 최적의 삽간영역 구성에 관한 연구

The spatial accuracy becomes first-order when second-order conservation schemes including the non-conservative interpolation in general Chimera method are used. To ensure the solution accuracy, the discontinuities must be located away from the overlapped regions, and the length of overlapped region also must be proportional to the grid spacing. In this paper, a proposed method, cut-paste algorithm, is used to satisfy above constraints. The cut-paste algorithm can generate the optimal mesh interface region automatically. To validate the spatial and temporal accuracy due to the non-conservative interpolation, inviscid and viscous problems are tested.

As IT(Information Technology) has been developing, an application engineering is advanced so quickly. Especially, CFD field that is influenced greatly by Computing Power is an outstanding example. In this paper, it says a research tendency of the KISTI Supercomputing Center that performs the CFD research based on IT. The representative researches are the National Grid Project, TeraCluster Construction and development and a supporting plan for Supercomputer users' parallelization.

In this paper, we suggest how to build the future oriented education environment including the advanced R&D results, that is basically a simulation based learning environment called EDISON (EDucation-research Integration through Simulation On the Net). EDISON is like a cyber education environment, science gateway, or portal for the research and education of the computational science communities. The purpose of this system is to accelerate research and advance education by building and providing the converged cyber environment for the research and education with the research outcomes and developed softwares from the academia and research labs. The EDISON system structure consists of Science-AppStore (Science-Application Store) for managing simulation codes and analyzing program information, the PSE(Problem Solving Environment) in which users can carry out simulation, the cyber infrastructure for providing services to use various computing resources which comprises supercomputers, high performance networks. This system can be used in teaching and researching. With the advantages, the system has been used in CFD classes(e.g. homework, term project and paper publication) in at least 16 universities and more than 1,000 students in 2011.

본 논문에서는 기존의 그리드 컴퓨팅(Grid Computing)에 자율 컴퓨팅(Autonomic Computing) 기술을 적용한 자율 그리드 컴퓨팅(Autonomic Grid Computing)에 관하여 연구하였다. 자율 그리드 컴퓨팅 기술 중 자기 구성(Self-Configuration)을 기존의 그리드 컴퓨팅에 적용하는 기법을 새롭게 제안하였다. 장시간 수행 되어야 하는 과학기술 분야의 연산 작업은 연산시간을 단축하기 위해 새로운 노드의 추가와 같은 시스템의 환경 변화를 자동 감지하여 수행중인 연산 작업에 새로운 노드를 추가할 필요가 있다. 제안한 방법은 새롭게 추가된 노드를 연산 작업에 포함하도록 시스템의 변화를 스스로 구성한다. 기존의 그리드 컴퓨팅 보다 시스템의 변화에 보다 잘 적응한다.

The grid technology is believed to be the next generation research tool for both computational and experimental scientists. With advanced network technologies and middleware, geographically distributed facilities can be tightly connected to provided a huge amount of resources or remote accessibility. In this paper, an overview of grid technology will be introduced with an emphasis in application to computational fluid dynamics. The computational fluid dynamics, which involves solution of partial differential equations, is basically limited by the computing power, With the grid technology, virtually unlimited resources are provided. The schematic structure of middleware and grid environment, as well as some preliminary results are presented.
