With the increase in recording density and higher rotation speeds, the aerodynamic aspect of hard disk<br/> drives (HDDs) is now quite significant. To achieve high TPI (tracks per inch) for hard disk drives, the actuator<br/> must induce less air turbulence. Also, alternative cross sections for the actuator arms are proposed for the<br/> reduction of air turbulence. In this study, off-track vibration of actuator arms used in of 3.5” hard disk drives<br/> with different cross sections have been measured by using Laser Doppler Vibrometer (LDV). It has been<br/> found that the vibration of the actuator arms with modified cross sections is lower than the conventional one.

A clinicopathological study was made on 17 case with leukemia cutis diagnosed in a period of 10 years frorn 1980 to 1989 in Seoul Xational University I-lospital. The results were summarized as follows : 1. There were 4 cases with acute lyrnphocytic leukernia, 7 with acute myelocytir. leukemia (AML), 5 with chronic myelocytic leukemia (CML), 1 with eosinophilic leukemia. 2. The clinical appearance of leukemia cutis included nodules (88.2%), papules, macules, plaques and ulcerative lesions. Leukemia cutis dis not show any discernible clinical qppearance with each different type of leukemia. 3. Leukemia cutis showed a wide spectrum of histopathologic features, diffuse infiltration, patchy infiltration with linear infiltration between collagen bundles, perivascular and peridnexal involvement, perivascular involvement, and mainly subcutaneous tissue involvement. There was no distinctive histopathologic pattern with each different type of leukemia. 4. The demonstration of intracytoplasmic chloroacetate esterase and lysozyme was helpful to refine the diagnosis of leukemia cutis. (Kor J Dermatol 28(3): 321 330, 1990)

Recently, load/unload(L/UL) process is applied to a computer information storage device due to its advantages such as lower power consumption, larger data zone, simpler fabrication of disk for no bumped parking zone, and rarer contact between the slider and media. An analysis of the transient motion for the slider is very important to design an air bearing surface (ABS) of the slider to secure the stable performance of the system. During the L/UL process, however, there are several issues occurred such as contact or collision between slider and media. Sometimes this will cause the system failure. In this study, the dynamics of the slider during the loading process are investigated through a numerical simulation using FEM analysis and experiment.

Head impact performance is the one of the safety regulation in FMVSS 201, Domestic safety standard 88, ECE 21. The main contents of this regulation is that deceleration shall not exceed 80g continuously for more than 3 milliseconds to pass the test and interior compartment doors shall not open. Lately, interior compartment doors are designed on the center fascia of the crash pad to satisfy customer's convenience. So there are many problems that interior compartment door is open during the test in the last stage of the car development In this study we have tried to search optimum design spec of latch system and to set up the analysis technique to satisfy Head Impact regulation by using FEM simulation and DFSS technique in the early stage of car development.

An analysis of the transient motion for the slider is very important to design an air bearing surface(ABS) of the slider to secure the stable performance of the system. During the L/UL process, however, there are several issues occurred such as contact or collision between slider and media. Sometimes this will cause the system failure. In this study, the dynamics of a pico slider during the loading process are investigated through numerical simulation using FEM analysis and experiment. Ramp profile and angular velocity of the swing arm actuator are very important parameters for the design of L/UL system to avoid collision between slider and disk.
