Air-heating vaporizers are usually used to regasify LNG at satellite areas because of the small demand for natural gas there. The common type of air heating vaporizer which exists in the market is the longitudinally finned type with 8 fins, 50mm fin length and 2mm fin thickness. To contribute in developing an efficient air-heating vaporizer, experiment on th with 2mm fin thickness (8fin50le) -which exist in the market- and 4 fins, 75mm fin length with 2mm fin thickness (4fin75le), which is proposed, were conducted. Then, both types of vaporizers are compared. The experiments were conducted in one hour by varying the ambient condition and the length of the vaporizer. The ambient air was controlled so that it has the same condition (same temperature, humid-ity and air velocity) with air condition in every season available and the length was varied 4000mm, 6000mm and condition was conducted to validate the previous result. In this experiment, the main aspects in analyzing the character-istics of the air heating vaporizer are the inlet-outlet enthalpy difference and the outlet temperature of the working fluid. LN2 is used to substitute LNG for safety reasons. The results show that the characteristics of the finned type 4fin75le vaporizer are comparable to the finned type 8fin50le vaporizer.
Physiological Roles of Monomeric Amyloid-β and Implications for Alzheimer’s Disease Therapeutics

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) progressively inflicts impairment of synaptic functions with notable deposition of amyloid-β (Aβ) as senile plaques within the extracellular space of the brain. Accordingly, therapeutic directions for AD have focused on clearing Aβ plaques or preventing amyloidogenesis based on the amyloid cascade hypothesis. However, the emerging evidence suggests that Aβ serves biological roles, which include suppressing microbial infections, regulating synaptic plasticity, promoting recovery after brain injury, sealing leaks in the blood-brain barrier, and possibly inhibiting the proliferation of cancer cells. More importantly, these functions were found in in vitro and in vivo investigations in a hormetic manner, that is to be neuroprotective at low concentrations and pathological at high concentrations. We herein summarize the physiological roles of monomeric Aβ and current Aβ-directed therapies in clinical trials. Based on the evidence, we propose that novel therapeutics targeting Aβ should selectively target Aβ in neurotoxic forms such as oligomers while retaining monomeric Aβ in order to preserve the physiological functions of Aβ monomers.

A thermo vapor compressor is simply a steam ejector employed in a multi effect desalination process. A greater understanding of flow phenomena inside an ejector plays an important role in its performance improvement. In this paper, CFD investigation has been carried out to study the flow structure inside a steam ejector. This research revealed the influence of operating pressures and ejector geometries on the flow structure and the performance of a steam ejector. The CFD results were verified with available experimental data. The angle of the converging duct as the geometry parameter was varied as 0°, 0.5°, 1°, 2°, 3.5° and 4.5°. The best performance was obtained by the ejector with converging duct angle of 1°.

There are many under going researchs for the natural convection and fluid flow in rectangular enclosure. In this paper, the optimal model that is the most frequently used for the analysis of a turbulent natural convection in rectangular enclosure is suggested by comparing with the result of Cheesewright's experiment. As We can see the distribution of the velocity, temperature, and turbulent kinitic energy, ST model tends to exaggerate the result of the experiment. The LS model generates better experimental result than the ST and DA's. Therefore, it is resonable to adopt the LS model that contains explicit physical meanings of each term in eouation of turbulent kinitic energy.
Osteoblasts Are the Centerpiece of the Metastatic Bone Microenvironment

The tumor microenvironment is comprised of diverse stromal cell populations in addition to tumor cells. Increasing evidence nowclearly supports the role of microenvironment stromal cells in tumor progression and metastasis, yet the regulatory mechanisms andinteractions among tumor and stromal cells remain to be elucidated. Bone metastasis is the major problem in many types of humanmalignancies including prostate, breast and lung cancers, and the biological basis of bone metastasis let alone curative approachesare largely undetermined. Among the many types of stromal cells in bone, osteoblasts are shown to be an important player. In this regard,osteoblasts are a key target cell type in the development of bone metastasis, but there are currently no drugs or therapeutic approachesare available that specifically target osteoblasts. This review paper summarizes the current knowledge on osteoblasts in themetastatic tumor microenvironment, aiming to provide clues and directions for future research endeavor.
