New Modularization Method to Design Supervisory Control of Automated Laboratory Systems

This paper describes the application of discrete event systems theory to the design of an automated laboratory system. Current automated laboratory systems typically consist of several interacting processes that must be carefully sequenced to avoid any possible process conflicts. Discrete Event Systems (DES) theory and Supervisory Control Theory (SCT) can be applied together as effective methods of modeling the system dynamics and designing supervisory controllers to precisely sequence the many processes that such systems might involve. Classical approaches to supervisory controller design tend to result in complex controller structures that are difficult to implement, maintain, and upgrade. In this paper, a new approach to designing supervisory controllers for automated laboratory systems is introduced. This new approach uses a modular controller structure that is easier to implement, maintain, and upgrade,and deals with state explosion issues in a novel and efficient way.

This paper presents an Emergency Maneuver Assistance (EMA) function to develop the vehicle stability and agility using steering and braking control systems. The object of the EMA function is to avoid the crash to the forward subject. The EMA system consists of a sensor and a controller. The EMA function controller commands the steering torque to the MDPS ECU for the rapid steering and limiting the steer angle, and orders the brake pressure to the ESC ECU for the stability of the vehicle.

Automated driving systems require a high level of performance regarding environmental perception, especially in urban environments. Today’s on-board sensors such as radars or cameras do not reach a satisfying level of development from the point of view of robustness and availability. Thus, map data is often used as an additional data input to support these systems. An accurate digital map is used as a powerful additional sensor. In this paper, we propose a new approach for vehicle localization using a lane map and a single-layer LiDAR. The maps are created beforehand using a highly accurate DGPS and a single-layer LiDAR. A pose estimation of the vehicle was derived from an iterative closest point (ICP) match of LiDAR’s intensity data to the lane map, and the estimated pose was used as an observation inside a Kalmanfilter framework. The achieved accuracy of the proposed localization algorithm is evaluated with a highly accurate DGPS to investigate the performance with respect to lateral vehicle control.

With the growth of aging population in Korea, a better care of chronic and other degenerative illnesses is urgently needed. Evidences suggest that this can be achieved through incorporating a wide range of care options, expanding beyond medical interventions. The aim of this study is to analyze the distribution of publically funded research to understand if the Korean research and development funding system matches various approaches and purposes to successfully tackle the chronic care needs of an aging society. We complied the list of funded projects to be analyzed by searching the National Technical Information Service database with key words such as aging society/senescence, chronic diseases, disability, and health promotion. Most projects were based on the biomedical approach with the purpose of establishing the etiology and clinical (treatment) interventions. Health promotion projects showed a distinctive distribution with more percentage of projects based on psycho-behavioral approaches while research on chronic diseases predominantly biomedical. It would be necessary to diversify publically-funded research projects to develop effective and efficient care technologies for the future.

본 논문에서는 다시점 비디오(multi-view video)에서 보다 다양한 시점을 제공하기 위한 가상 시점 비디오 생성 기법을 제안한다. 제안하는 가상 시점 비디오 생성 기법은 우선적으로 대칭적 신뢰 전파 기법(symmetric belief propagation)을 기반으로, 각 시점의 깊이 정보 및 폐색 영역(occlusion region)을 추출하기 위해서 에너지를 최소화한다. 추출된 깊이 정보 및 에너지를 이용하여 참조하는 시점 간의 가중치를 적용하여, 새로운 가상 시점의 비디오를 생성하고, 추출된 폐색 영역의 값을 이용하여, 가상 시점의 비디오를 보정하는 가상 시점 비디오 생성 기법을 제안한다. 또한 제안하는 알고리즘을 한정된 중간 시점 영상에서 임의의 가상 시점으로 확장하여, 임의의 두 시점 간의 자유로운 시점(free-view point)을 제공함을 확인한다. 실험을 통하여 제안하는 기법이 다시점 비디오에서 높은 화질의 가상 시점 비디오를 제공함을 확인한다.

Due to the vehicle electronic and development of communication technologies, Besides the basic functions supporting the weight to the vehicle and mitigating the road impact, Tire is adding the additional function such as the TPMS(Tire Pressure Monitoring System). In addition, recently research of the intelligent tire system capable of measuring the tire force have been actively. Yet only the leading technology in the development stage, however, launching of the prototype is expected in the near future according to leading companies and excellent domestic and international research institutions . In this paper, Vehicle dynamic controller is designed using tire force information that occurred between the tire and road surface. The proposed controller is verified using CarSim simulation.

본 연구의 목적은 전기자동차용 고발열 전자장비를 최적으로 냉각 제어하는 알고리즘을 개발하는 것이다.이를 위하 여 준중형급 전기자동차의 전자장비 냉각시스템의 계절 부하별 냉각수온도 변화를 실험적으로 고찰하여 시험용 전기자동차 냉각 제어 로직의 타당성 분석을 수행하였다.결과적으로 기존 전기자동차의 전자장비 냉각시스템은 필요 냉각부하인 기준 온도와 비교하여 과도하게 구동되고 있음을 확인하였다.또한,전기자동차의 연비 향상을 위하여 외기온도,차량속도,냉매온 도 등을 고려한 최적 냉각 제어 알고리즘이 필요하다. The object of this study is to develop an cooling control algorithm for electronics devices of the electric vehicle. In order to estimate the existing cooling control logic of the electronic devices for the small and medium sized electric vehicle, the experiments on the coolant temperature variation of the cooling system were conducted under 4 different seasons conditions. As a result, the existing cooling control logic were overcooled when it was compared with the reference temperature for a required cooling load. In addition, the newly developed optimum cooling control logic for improving the mileages of the tested electric vehicle with consideration of the ambient temperature, vehicle speed, and refrigerant temperature of the air conditioning on/off is necessary.

Duodenal loop obstruction is an unusual cause of acute pancreatitis. Increased intraluminal pressure hinders pancreatic flow, causing dilatation of the pancreatic duct and inducing acute pancreatitis. We experienced three cases of acute pancreatitis that resulted from duodenal loop obstruction after (1) an esophagectomy with gastric pull-up procedure for esophageal cancer, (2) a gastrectomy with Billroth I reconstruction for gastric cancer, and (3) a gastrojejunostomy for abdominal trauma. An abdominal CT scan revealed a distended duodenal loop, dilated pancreatic duct, and inflamed pancreas with fluid collection. Acute pancreatitis with duodenal loop obstruction was diagnosed by abdominal pain, elevated serum amylase/lipase, and abdominal CT findings. Immediate decompression with a nasogastric tube was performed, and all patients showed improvement within one week after admission. Each patient was followed up for more than two years without recurrence. Our findings suggest the usefulness of nasogastric tube decompression as the first line of treatment for acute pancreatitis related to duodenal loop obstruction. Distributed generation (IX;) plays an important role in the power system nowadays. Over-current relay, widely used in the DG protection, causes a wide outage section and long time delay. This paper proposes a DG protection technique to minimize the outage section. The proposed method uses three directional over-current relays with delay, which are connected to the point of common coupling. The method can minimize the outage section.
