Background: This study was performed to estimate the prevalence of vertebral fracture in the rural elderly community and to understand the clinical features of vertebral fracture. Methods: The subjects were 240 people age over 70 years old who had resided in the rural community. For each patient, an X-ray of thoraco-lumbar veretbrae and brief questionnaire were taken. Results: In this study, the total prevalence of vertebral fracture was 26.3%, and each prevalence of male and female was 22.9% and 39.6% (P<0.05). Among the patients, each frequency of traumatic and non-traumatic vertebral fracture was 25.4% and 74.6% (P<0.05). The most common fractured vertebrae were the 12th thoracic and the 1st lumbar vertebra. Only 9 (14.3%) patients with vertebral fractures had been diagnosed with osteoporosis. Of these, only 4 (6.3%) had received treatment for osteoporosis. Conclusion: These results showed that the female prevalence of the vertebral fracture was higher than that of male and the vertebral fracture without severe trauma was predominant. In addition, a spinal X-ray was simple and useful method for detection of non-traumatic vertebral fracture in the elderly. 연구배경: 본 연구는 농촌 지역의 70세 이상 노인에서 접근이 용이하고 비용이 저렴한 단순 방사선 검사를 통해 척추골절의 임상 양상 및 유병률 등을 파악하고자 하였다. 방법: 70세 이상의 노인 240명을 대상으로 외상의 과거력에 관한 간단한 병력 청취를 통해 심한 외상의 경험 유무를 파악하였고, 또한 허리통증의 유무 및 골다공증의 검사와 치료 경험 유무를 조사하였으며, 흉요추부 단순 방사선 검사를 시행하여 척추골절의 위치와 개수를 파악하였다. 결과: 본 연구 집단에서의 척추골절의 유병률은 26.3%이었고, 이 중 남자는 22.9%, 여자는 39.6%으로 여자에게서 척추골절의 유병률이 높았다(P<0.05). 척추골절 환자 중에서 심한 외상의 과거력이 없는 환자는 63명 중 47명(74.6%), 심한 외상의 과거력을 가진 환자는 63명 중 16명(25.4%)으로 심한 외상의 과거력이 없는 척추골절 환자의 빈도가 높았다(P<0.05). 척추골절 부위는 제12 흉추와 제1 요추에서 각각 23명씩으로 가장 많았고 척추 골절이 있는 63명 중 골다공증 검사를 받은 환자는 9명(14.3%)이었고, 골다공증 치료를 받는 환자는 4명(6.3%)에 불과하였다. 결론: 70세 이상 농촌 지역 노인에게 있어서 척추골절의 유병률은 여자가 남자보다 높았으며, 외상의 과거력이 없는 흉요추부 척추골절의 빈도가 높았다. 노인에서 골밀도 감소로 외상이 없거나 혹은 경미한 외상에 의해 발생하는 척추골절의 진단을 위해 노인의 건강검진 및 일차 진료에서 비용과 시간을 절약할 수 있는 흉요추 부위의 단순 방사선 검사가 시행되어야할 것으로 생각하며, 이를 통해 적극적인 골다공증 치료를 시행함으로써 노인들의 추가적인 척추골절 발생률을 낮추고 삶의 질을 향상시킬 수 있을 것으로 생각한다.

In order to enhance sintering characteristics on the $ZnO-Pr_6O_{11}$ based multilayer chip varistors (MLVs), a response surface analysis using central composite design method were carried out. As a result, varistor voltage($V_{1mA}$), nonlinear coefficient ($\alpha$), leakage current ($I_L$) and capacitance (C) were considered to be mainly affected by sintered temperature and holding time. MLVs sintered at $1200^{\circ}C$ and above $1200^{\circ}C$ revealed poor electrical characteristics, possibly due to the reaction between electrode materials(Pd) and $ZnO-Pr_6O_{11}$ based ceramics. On the sintering temperature range $1150{\sim}1175^{\circ}C$, nonlinear coefficient ($\alpha$) and leakage current ($I_L$) were shown to be $60{\sim}69$ and below $0.3{\mu}A$, respectively. In particular, MLVs sintered at $1175^{\circ}C$, 1.5 hr and $2^{\circ}C/hr$ (cooling speed) showed stable ESD(Electrical Static Discharge) characteristics under the condition of 10 times at 8 Kv with deviation varistor voltage, and deviation nonlinear coefficient were 0.3% and 0.33% (at positive), 0.55% (at negative), respectively.

Free and forced vibration analysis of the global ship structure using the 3-dimensional finite element(FE) method requires not only the specialized knowledge such as ship structure interacted with fluid, damping and various excitations due to propulsion system but also time-consuming manual tasks in FE modeling, analysis and response evaluation. As a result, the quality of the vibration analysis highly depends on engineers expertise and experience. In this study, a framework system to improve the efficiency of global ship vibration analysis is introduced. The system promising the utilization of MSC/Patran and MSC/Nastran consists of various modules to support data management, FE modeling of ship structure and loading, input deck generation for free and forced vibration analysis, data extraction and evaluation of analysis results, and databases for FE models of marine diesel engines and vibration criteria. The system may be useful for pursuing standardization of uncertain analysis factors as well as reducing time, cost and human dependency in ship vibration analysis.
