In general, the metal working fluids (MWFs) are employed to improve the efficiency and precision of metal working processes. Unfortunately, these emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) cause harmful health effects during the metal working processes. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine the effect of adsorbents on removal of VOCs. The results of the adsorption of toluene over several adsorbents (activated carbon, activated alumina and zeolites) were reviewed for the selection of a effective adsorbent. As a results, activated carbon filters have showed better performance toward toluene adsorption as compared to other adsorbents.
