Most passenger cars equipped with automatic transmissions use torque converter lock-up clutch to reduce fuel consumption. and recently the slip control scheme of torque converter lock-up clutch is widely studied for expansion of the operating region of torque converter lock-up clutch and thus for the further improvement of the fuel economy of vehicles. In this paper, the analysis of the torque converter clutch is performed. Especially analysis of lock-up clutch system is performed using various friction models including Tanh model, Kamopp model, Dahl model, LuGre model and reset / integrator model. Out of them, this paper intensively compares Tanh model, Kamopp model and reset / integrator model. And finally a new model for control of lock-up clutch system is proposed.
