중국의 해외직접투자(OFDI)가 국가 이미지를 향상 시키는가?

국가 이미지 구축은 중국 소프트파워 구축의 핵심이다. 본 논문은 PEW 리서치 센터의 설문 조사 데이터를 중국의 국가 이미지 평가 데이터로 삼고, 2009년부터 2019년까지의 해외직접투자(OFDI) 데이터를 활용하여 OFDI와 중국의 국가 이미지 향상 간의 관계와 OFDI가 국가 이미지에 미치는 영향 메커니즘을 실증적으로 분석하였다. 연구결과는 OFDI가 중국의 국가 이미지 향상을 촉진하는 데 중요한 역할을 한다는 것을 보여주며, 강건성 테스트(robustness test)는 관련 결론을 추가로 검증하였다. 메커니즘 검증에서는 OFDI가 경제 및 사회 발전의 촉진 효과, 사회적 책임 효과 및 여론 개선을 통해 중국의 국가 이미지 개선을 촉진하는 데 기여하고 있음을 발견하였다. 추가 분석에 따르면 OFDI가 국가 이미지 향상에 미치는 영향에는 ‘이질적인 투자 동기’, ‘투자 단계’, ‘투자 계약 및 정치적 친화성’이 있으며, 국가 이미지 향상에는 ‘시간 효과’ 및 ‘거리적 효과’가 있다. 본 논문의 연구 성과는 중국의 국가이미지 구축 및 개선을 위한 기준과 의사결정의 근거를 제공하는 데 기여할 수 있을 것이며, 중국의 대외적 이미지 개선과 교착상태에 있는 한중관계를 개선하는 데 있어서 정책적 기여를 할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. Building the national image is the core of building China's soft power. This paper used the survey data of the PEW Research Center as the data for evaluating China's national image, and used the foreign direct investment (OFDI) data from 2009 to 2019 to empirically analyze the relationship between OFDI and the improvement of China's national image and the mechanism by which OFDI affects the national image. The research results show that OFDI plays an important role in promoting the improvement of China's national image, and the robustness test further verified related conclusions. In the mechanism verification, it was found that OFDI contributes to promoting the improvement of China's national image through the promotion effect of economic and social development, the effect of social responsibility, and the improvement of public opinion. According to additional analysis, OFDI's effects on improving the national image include ‘heterogeneous investment motivation’, ‘investment stage’, and ‘investment contracts and political affinity’, and ‘time effect’ and ‘distance effect’ on improving the national image. The research results of this paper are expected to contribute to providing the basis for standards and decision-making for building and improving China's national image, and to make a policy contribution to improving China's external image and deadlocked Korea-China relations.

사람은 누구나 미래를 궁금해하며 꿈꾸기 마련이다. 한국에서 사회학하는 사람들 중에는 청년기에 사회변혁을 꿈꾸었던 사람들이 많았다. 우리시대의 바로 앞을 걸어갔던 사회학자들은 대부분 이러한 계몽의 시대적 기획을 통해 각성되었으며, 변혁의 시대를 고민했던 세대들이다. 세계화와 정보화를 주된 키워드로 하는 오늘날의 시대에서 우리 사회학자들에게 2세대 선배들의 은퇴를 보는 감회는 새롭다. 그러나 이들은 우리동양사회사상학회와 같이 새로운 정체성을 통해 등장하는 작은 학회나 세대들에게는 오히려 새로운 길을 처음으로 열어가는 1세대에 가깝다. 한 인물과 그 세대에 대한 평가나 분석의 글이 지니는 위험성을 알면서도 조심스럽게 이에 대한 사회학적 분석을 시도하는 이유이다. 선배교수의 은퇴에 비추어 우리 동양사회사상학회의 새로운 주춧돌로 삼고자 함이다. 건암 정학섭 선생은 1985년부터 현재까지 전북대학교 사회학과 교수로 재직해왔다. 90년대 초반까지는 한국사회의 변혁운동의 흐름과 함께하며 지역의 노동운동 시민사회운동에 헌신하셨다. 이후 동양사상과 사회학의 만남을 주제로 하는 다양한 연구를 수행했다. 2011년부터는 7년간 동양사회사상학회의 회장을 맡아 사회학적 관심의 동양사상적 지평의 확장에도 기여했다. 최근에는 현대사회의 위기의 다양한 양상에 대해 퇴계사상을 접목한 ‘친밀성’과 ‘성찰성’의 사회학을 화두로 하는 연구를 지속해왔다. 은퇴는 새로운 시작을 알린다. Gray세대와 함께 걸어가고자 하는 우리 학회 회원들의 마음을 담아 미래를 위한 자산이 되기를 바라며 글을 시작한다. Everyone dreams, wondering about the future. Many of the sociologists in Korea dreamed of social change in their youth. Most of the sociologists who walked right in front of our time were awakened through these enlightenment period projects, and were concerned about the era of transformation. In today's era of globalization and informatization as the main keywords, it is refreshing to see the retirement of second-generation seniors. However, they are more like the first generation to open a new path for small institutions and generations that emerge through new identities, such as the Association of East Asian Social Thoughts. This is why they carefully attempt a sociological analysis of a person and his generation, knowing the dangers of writing about them and their generation. In light of the retirement of senior professors, we want to make it a new cornerstone of the Association of East Asian Social Thoughts. Gunam Jeong Hak-seop has been a professor of sociology at Chonbuk National University since 1985. Until the early 1990s, he devoted himself to the labor movement and civil society movement in the region, along with the transformation movement of Korean society. Since then, he has conducted various studies on the theme of the encounter between East Asian social thoughts and sociology. Since 2011, he has served as the president of the Association of East Asian Social Thoughts for seven years, contributing to the expansion of the Oriental thoughts horizon of sociological interest. Recently, research has continued to be focused on the sociology of 'friendliness' and 'reflection', which incorporate Toegye ideas on various aspects of the crisis in modern society. Retirement marks a new beginning. I start writing with the hope of becoming an asset for the future with the hearts of our academic members who want to walk with the Gray Generation.
