세대 내, 세대 간 교류가 여성노인과 남성노인의 삶의 질에 미치는 영향 : 세대 내 교류의 조절효과를 중심으로

This study explores the influence of inter- and intra-generational interactions on qualityof life of older people and observes moderating effect of intra-generational interaction onthe relationship between inter-generational interaction and quality of life. The data for thisstudy were from “The study on the perception of an aging society.”A total of 392 olderadults samples who were aged 65 and more were used for the analysis. Major results ofthis study are as follows. No specific differences were found in quality of life between menand women. However, old women showed higher degree of intra-generational andinter-generational interaction. Significant variables to explain quality of life for older womenwere education, self-rated health status, and intergenerational interaction with family andothers. In case of older men, inter-generational interaction with family and others andintra-generational interaction were appeared as significant variables explaining quality oflife. Furthermore, moderating effect of intra-generational interaction on the relationshipbetween inter-generational interaction and quality of life has been found. Based on theresults, this study suggests several ways to improve quality of life for older adults usingintra- and inter-generational interaction. For older men, it should be considered that therole of intra-generational interaction on the relationship between inter-generationalinteraction and quality of life.
