연속가교를 통한 피부 진피세포 담지 콜라겐 겔의 강도 제어

본 연구에서는 생체재료인 콜라겐과 합성 단량체인 아크릴아마이드를 연속가교 하여, 하이드로젤 기반의 콜라겐 겔을 제조하였다. 아크릴아마이드의 함량 및 가교 정도에 따라, 1.5 kPa에서 3.0 kPa까지 다양한 강도(E)를 갖는 콜라겐 겔을 제조할 수 있었다. 또한, 콜라겐 겔에 다공성 기공을 도입하고 진피세포를 내부에 담지하여, 겔 강도에 따른 세포 성장 및 거동을 확인하였다. 상대적으로 강도가 높은 겔에서 세포의 성장은 느렸지만 GAG 합성 및 분비는 활성화되는 것을 확인하였다. 콜라겐 겔의 기계적 물성에 따라 세포의 성장 및 활성이 영향을 받는 것을 알 수 있었으며, 이는 향후 인공피부 제조 및 응용, 나아가 다양한 조직공학 분야의 기반 기술로 활용 가능하리라 기대된다. In this study, sequential cross-linked collagen gels were successfully prepared with collagen, which is biomaterial, and acrylamide (AAm), which is a synthetic monomer. The elastic moduli (E) of cross-linked collagen gels were increased from 1.5 to 3.0 kPa by varying of AAm concentrations. In addition, human dermal fibroblasts were encapsulated into the porous pores introduced into the gels, and cell growth and behavior were investigated. Increasing E of the gels led to decreases in cell growth rate, while the cellular glycosaminoglycan (GAG) production level was elevated. Overall, the growth and cellular activity of skin cells were influenced by the extracellular matrix properties of the collagen gels. In conclusion, these results will be highly useful for designing reconstructive skins and various tissue engineering researches.
오미자와 배를 이용한 혼합 발효주 제조 방법에 대한 연구

Omija contains high organic acid content (5~7%) that must be reduced in order to produce high quality wine for consumption. In this study, we used pear, which has low total acid but plenty of sugar, to relieve the sourness of Omija material. Our group mixed Omija and pear at a ratio of 1:9 to 1:15 in order to attain a 0.5~0.7% total acid level, similar to commercial wine. As Omija was mixed with pear, the red color of Omija changed to a lighter red color. Alcohol fermentation solution of Bokbunja and Gaeryangmeoru were used to make up for the light red color of Omijaㆍpear wine. The red color of Bokbunja was confirmed to be similar to the original red color of Omija. It was proven that addition of 3~5% Bokbunja to Omijaㆍpear mixture wine produced replicated the red color image of Omija. Our results show that addition of 2~5% xylitol to Omijaㆍpear mixture wine was good by sensory test.

Purpose: Syphilis infections are becoming more prevalent in the Republic of Korea, and inadequately treated syphilis can lead to congenital syphilis (CS) in newborns. This study aimed to analyze the clinical manifestations of syphilis in mothers and newborns and to make suggestions to improve disease prognosis. Methods: This single-center study was performed between August 2009 and August 2019 and included 29 newborns with CS. We retrospectively evaluated the clinical features, rapid plasma reagin (RPR) card test, fluorescent treponemal antibody absorption test (FTA-ABS), morbidity, and treatment regimen of all the syphilis-affected mothers and their newborns. Results: At the time of delivery, mean maternal age was 29.0±6.1 years old, and newborn gestational age was 38.0 weeks. In cases when syphilis was confirmed during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, the newborn with CS had morbidity (p=0.004). The mean RPR titer was related to morbidity (p= 0.036). Positive results of FTA-ABS IgM (p<0.001) and pleocytosis in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) (p= 0.020) also increase morbidity. The most common symptoms were desquamation and skin rash, followed by hepatomegaly, neurodevelopmental disability, and bone abnormalities. The highest number of CS cases per 1,000 live births in this hospital was in 2014. Conclusion: CS is a preventable and treatable disease if physicians detect symptoms and provide appropriate treatment through RPR examinations during every trimester. General practitioners should be widely trained on various aspects including early detection, formal treatment, and regular follow-up. Additionally, medical services should be provided for the entire childbearing population regardless of the socioeconomic status.
