A mooring line for keeping the position of a floating wave energy conversion is designed with using a commercial software, Orcaflex. Static analysis for one line is performed to decide the properties and pretension of a mooring line. With considering the ocean environmental condition and importance of a floating structure, the layout of multi-line is determined. The result of free decay of the designed mooring system estimates that the designed mooring system meets the resonance on the extreme ocean environmental condition. The initial design for mooring line is inevitably modified with adjustment of pretension. Adjustment of pretension with the change of length of mooring line results in the decrease of the ultimate tension on mooring line. The extreme value in tension of mooring line shows to be very sensitive to pretension of mooring line.

The experiment on pressure controled pipeline laying method which has advantage of reducing the top tension of pipeline is performed. Top tensions and strains along pipeline length according to injected pressure at a static position are measured to investigate the tension variation by the pressure with strain gauges and FBG sensors respectively. Static tensions for all cases increase, which is adverse for the expected effect by the pressure controled laying method. The fail to show the effect of pressure controled laying method comes from the inequality of pipe material. On the condition of top excitation with a period and amplitude, the height of top tension response shows to be decrease with pressure increase. The adverse effect by VIV for a certain excitation period should carefully be considered in the design of pressure controled pipeline laying method.
