This paper is research about proactive safety and we have measured drivers real time position of eye and head by using a camera settled in front of operator (driver) and a eye tracker equipment. Collected data were used to analyze a correlation between driver’s career and gender and its effect on driver’s behavior. Moreover, By calculating standard deviation figure (σ) of driver’s head behavior studied to represent how stable behavior depend on features driver has. This study results will be used to concrete an accident preventative education and be utilized as basic material for design system such as each different warning process following driver’s feature.
지능형 자동차용 FOT 데이터베이스에 기반한 한국과 미국 운전자의 주행특성 고찰

Recently, automobile has been developed as a fusion technology product with many electronic parts and telematics equipments and many ECUs. Automobiles are becoming more intelligent and safe vehicles, assemblies of advanced technology by customers’ demand. A study on the natural driving pattern and driver"s response in various traffic and road condition is essential to develop the driver friendly intelligent vehicle. We introduced the field operational test (FOT) database, which could be used as driving and road conditions collection for researches about driver friendly intelligent system, Human Vehicle Interface(HVI) system and economic driver model and so on, which has been built by Korea Automotive Technology Institute(KATECH) from 2 years ago. Also, we compared Korean and American driving characteristics based on FOT database. American driving data came from UMTRI(University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute) RDCW(road departure crash warning system) FOT database. We showed macroscopic observation results about driving tendency of both database in this paper and we will present detail analysis results in the close future.

The most people have some representative prejudices when they are facing women drivers while driving. They tend to associate with female drivers as interrupters who impede the flow of the road. For example, the people who drive too slowly alone, drivers who have frequent sudden stop and a quick start and inexperienced people with changing lanes. In this paper, we have studied deceleration characteristics which is one of drivers' traits according to drivers' gender when they driving on the highway for investigating the truth. For experiments, we recruited twenty men and twenty women patients who are 30~40 years old. Highway is selected as a test course to reduce to a minimum impact from environment Brake Act signals that is transported from vehicles are used to analyze and same a highway and a vehicle are used at the same time. About 20 minutes before starting the test have been adapted to the drivers to get used a test vehicle. Through the result of this study, we would like to identify male and female drivers' deceleration characteristics and reconsider preconceptions about women drives that most people have.

We presented design methodology of constant velocity joint for passenger cars using design of experiment. On the basis of contact normal stress of internal components of constant velocity joints, we performed a sensitivity analysis of several design parameters. And then we performed robust design and optimization design process. As a result, we could find robust design and also propose the optimized design. Presented design process would be very helpful for engineers who are suffer for new constant velocity joint design.
차량자세제어 최악상황 개발 및 UCC HILS 시스템 기반 성능 평가

The current test methods are insufficient to evaluate and ensure the safety and reliability of vehicle system for all possible dynamic situation including the worst case such as rollover, spin-out and so on. Although the known NHTSA Sine with dwell steering maneuvers are applied for the vehicle performance assessment, they aren't enough to estimate other possible worst case scenarios. Therefore, it is crucial for us to verify the various worst cases including the existing severe steering maneuvers. This paper includes useful worst case based upon the existing worst case scenarios mentioned above and worst case evaluation for vehicle dynamic controller in simulation basis and UCC HILS. The only human steering angle is selected as a design parameter here and optimized to maximize the index function to be expressed in terms of both yaw rate and side slip angle. The obtained scenarios were enough to generate the worst case to meet NHTSA worst case definition. It has been concluded that the new procedure in this paper is adequate to create other feasible worst case scenarios for a vehicle dynamic control system.
