Vehicle emission is one of the major sources of air pollution, and provides some undesirable effects on the atmospheric environment and human health. In this study, the driving data were recorded during road tests in Seoul metropolitan area, and analyzed by statistical techniques. The objective of the study is to analyze the driving patterns of passenger car that influence on emissions in urban driving. The results show that the average speed is around 29.9km/h, and the average fuel economy is 10.23 km/ ?? . Recent settlement of the industrial society of mass production and mass consumption brings about an exhaustion of natural resources and global warming. Therefore, various researches are under way for the pursuit or economic growth and environmental protection at the same time. For example, directive on ELV went into effect on January 2006 in EU in order to increase the reuse and recovery rate for vehicles. In our country, the resources circulation law of automobile is established for the promotion of reuse of automotive components and effective on January 2008. In this paper, remanufacturing, which is one of the reuse of automotive parts, is introduced and performance evaluation system of the remanufactured starter motor is proposed for the quality certification.

Emission from road traffic is one of the major sources of air pollution, and provides some undesirable effects the atmospheric environment and human health. In the city of Seoul, the higher portion of diesel vehicles runs compared with that of other countries. Emission from the diesel vehicles is much higher than that of other vehicles. In this study, the driving pattern of city-bus in Seoul is investigated through on-road vehicle test and compared with the test modes of other countries in order to examine appropriateness of the present test mode that is taken in our country.

Fuel injection system greatly affects the performance of a direct injection diesel engine. A common rail injection system was introduced to satisfy the stringent emission standards, low fuel consumption, and low noise in recent years. The performance of a common-rail fuel injection system is strongly influenced by the injector characteristics. The common rail injector has evolved in order to improve its injection performance. The piezo-actuated injector is more suitable for common rail injection system due to its fast response and is expected to replace current solenoid-operated injector. In this study, nonlinear mathematical models are proposed for the solenoid-operated and the piezo-actuated injectors for control applications. Based on these models, the injection rate, which is one of the most important factors for the injection characteristics, is estimated using sliding mode observer. The simulation results and the experimental data show that the proposed sliding mode observers can effectively estimate the injection timing and the injection rate for both common-rail injectors.

Stringent emission regulations and increasing demands on reductions of noise and vibration of cummon rail direct injection (CRDI) diesel engines lead to the advent of piezo-actuated injectors. Compared with solenoid-actuated injectors. piezo-actuated injectors generate greater force and give faster response time, resulting in more accurate and faster injections. The accurate and fast response of an injector can offer an opportunity to control the combustion process and pollutant formation. In this study. the mathematical model of a piezo-actuated injector is developed. An estimator of the injection rate of the piezo-actuated injector is designed based on this model. The sliding mode theory is applied to the estimator design in order to overcome model uncertainties. The injector model and the estimator are verified by the injection experiments in an injector test bench. The simulation and the experimental results show that the proposed sliding mode observer can effectively estimate the injection timing and the injection rate of the piezo-actuated injector.

The fuel injection system for common-rail direct injection(CRDI) diesel engines has been evolving by advances of the piezoelectric actuator performance. Compared with the solenoid-actuated injector, the piezo-actuated injector makes it possible to create more accurate and faster injections. Since the injection timing and the injection rate have a great influence on the combustion performance, the accurate and fast response of an injector can offer an opportunity to control the combustion process and pollutant formation. In this study, the mathematical model of a piezo-actuated injector is developed. The estimator of the injection timing and the injection rate of the piezo-actuated injector is designed based on this model. A sliding mode theory is applied to the estimator design in order to overcome model uncertainties. The injector model and the estimator are verified by the injection experiments in an injector test bench. [응용논문] 실차테스트를 통한 7단 자동변속기용 재제조 토크컨버터의 성능검증 방법에 관한 연구

In this study, to verify the restoration performance of the remanufactured torque converter for seven-speed automatic transmission, bench and real-vehicle tests were performed on the original and remanufactured torque converters. The performance efficiency test of the remanufactured torque converter was carried out in the torque converter test equipment, and the performance efficiency was calculated by the speed ratio and torque ratio calculated from the measured values of the rotational speeds and torques of the input and output shafts of the torque converter. In the actual vehicle, the transmission response characteristics test, P-R-N-D response characteristics test, and automatic-transmission stall test were performed, and vehicle tests were performed after the installation of the original and remanufactured torque converters, respectively. The comparison of the results of the bench and vehicle tests for the original and remanufactured torque converters revealed that the performance of the remanufactured torque converter was restored to a level equivalent to that of the original torque converter.
