3차원 보로노이 다이어그램을 활용한 건축 디자인 생성 프로세스에 관한 연구

This paper presents the unique formation process of a volumetric space with the digital algorithm developed for Voronoi diagram in order to generate an effective parametric architectural form. By applying systematic parameters of architectural conditions within digital parametric tools, the interactions among sub-spaces developed by Voronoi diagram are enhanced by manipulating the spatial structures. In this paper, we discuss how the parametric distributing and zoning geometrical system can support designers in developing a free-formed space, and research on how this system creates a 3D volumetric space. With the in-depth research on the system and structure of Voronoi diagram, the approaches to the application of Voronoi diagram into architectural form generation are clarified to be an effective, creative and successful digital tool. The result of the application of the Voronoi diagram improves the design quality with systematic language in the sense that the sub-regions are created and controlled under the systematic and balanced hierarchy having dynamic relationships among each others with the restoration of the equilibrium of forces and tensions. This 3-dimensional Voronoi diagram provides another means for designers to solve architectural issues and to reinforce their design concepts.

This paper is aimed at the development of a theoretical framework that addresses practical applications of generative design system that have been observed in architectural practice. Existing theoretical frameworks are not aimed at addressing this specific use of parametric tools but do provide a set of key themes. Based on these themes a generative design system is presented here as a means for tackling architectural design development tasks. This is then used in order to examine a case study; the generative design system tasks involved in the design development and documentation of the Olympic Stadium in Germany. The findings from this examination are used to discuss proposals and implications for a practical framework for generative design in architecture.

At the early design stage, a designer would develop a design through reviewing various alternatives. However, the limitation of human information handling capacity restricts what makes various alternatives. A way to overcome the limitation is to create the alternatives with computer power and the generative design concept with computer has been used. For the generative design, even if a great deal of methodologies has been presented, the core of methodologies would be the process of shapes which examine interrelationship among shapes and how shape can be changed with the interrelationship. The interrelationship can be represented as rules. To represent the rule, the shape grammar is suggested by Stiny in 1972 with the article of “Shape Grammars and the Generative Specification of Painting and Sculpture”. The aim of this paper is to present a way of using generative design based on shape grammar for generating alternatives in 3D manner.

Knowledge information-based architectural work environment is ICT-based work environment. It can be defined as the number of accumulated knowledge to share and leverage generated by the building design process. In many countries around the world entered the 2000s, has published a roadmap for the future of the industry. Architectural, mechanical, IT, medical, military, robots, and the field is not restrictive strategies for leading industries, reflecting the characteristics of each country have been established. All published roadmap look at the future society as a time to prepare for the knowledge information. However, a small architects which accounts for 95% cases of domestic construction environment is difficult to take these examples. In this study, we provide the evaluation system for small architects to take these examples easily. By using this evaluation system, they can construct the work environment strategy according to prescription for BIM adoption. For developing the evaluation system, we developed architectural design work environment survey items and knowledge information-based architectural design work environment questionnaire through two previous studies.

Number of 1 to 2 person household continuously increased owing to higher income level, retirement of baby boom generation and increase of elderly population. The family structure made change to have 1 to 2 person household and to have different type of housing that could be supported by small-sized housing. Since the 1990s, ration of small-sized housing construction decreased to expend supply at local housing market in accordance with preference of medium-large sized apartments owing to higher income to produce problems at supply of consumer-oriented comfortable and various housing environments, communication with suppliers and less communication with suppliers and no system of information sharing and control system. The purpose of the study was to supply various kinds architecture design support for communication and information control and to investigate needs of each body and to build up bi-directional communication system according to needs.
