One of the efficient ways for extracting recycled aggregate from the huge amount of construction waste generated every year. In the process for production of the useful constructive materials, it is important to remove foreign matters such as plastics and wood pillet contained in the waste well installed in a washing tank. The main principle for the separation is the difference of specific gravity between materials and water. There are various problems in the manufacturing process concerning the separation of foreign matter jammed in the open channel due to pressure drop. To improve this, the geometrical shape of channel must be modified, and computational fluid dynamics is used for the simulation of the counterpart experiment with reduced-scale models.
