Background: Pilomatricoma is a rare benign follicular tumor in Orientals. Objective : Clinical and histopathological features of the tumor were analyzed. Methods: The medical records and histopathological slides of 19 tumors from 17 patients with pilomatricoma were studied. Results : The morphology of the tumors were divided into 3 groups :1) elevated, uniform nodules(16 cases), 2) elevated, multilobulated nodules(2 cases), and 3) non-elevated, uniform nodules (1 case). Histologically, the tumors were composed of shadow cells, transitional cells, basaloid cells and squamous cells. Changes of the stroma within the tumors and the stroma overlying the tumors included vascular dilatation, RBC engorgement and infiltration of inflammatory cells. Changes of the epidermis overlying the tumors were found in 14 cases and included hyperkeratosis(14 cases), follicular plugging(2 cases), epidermis invagination(5 cases) and acanthosis nigricans-like change(3 cases). Conclusion: Clinically, pilomatricomas manifested as either a solitary nodule or two nodules. Histologically, several tumors showed palisading of basaloid cells, retraction spaces, lymphoid follicles and acanthosis nigricans-liike epidermal changes in addition to the classic features of pilomatricoma. The low-temperature operation of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) is a challenge in achieving high-stability battery technology. Moreover, the design and analysis of low-temperature electrolytes are impeded by the limited understanding of various solvent components and their combinations. In this study, we present a data-driven strategy to design electrolytes with high ionic conductivity at low temperature using various machine-learning algorithms, such as random forest and feedforward neural networks. To establish a link between prediction of electrolyte chemistry and cell performance of LIBs, we performed parameter-free molecular dynamics (MD) prediction of various salt concentrations and temperatures for target solvents. Finally, electrochemical modeling was performed using these properties as the required material parameters. Combining works of the fully parameterized Newman models, parameter-free MD, and data-driven prediction of electrolyte chemistry can help measure the discharge voltage of batteries and enable in silico engineering of electrolyte development for realizing low-temperature operation of LIBs.

Lithium metal offers high energy density for lithium ion batteries owing to large gravimetric capacity (3860 mAh g<SUP>-1</SUP>) and low oxidation reduction potential (-3.04 V). Although Li has low redox potential and high specific energy density, Li dendrite growth results in capacity degradation generating dead Li during repeated cycles. To solve unwanted Li growth, 3D host framework such as carbon fiber and porous carbon framework were considered as alternative anode electrode. Among them, ZIF derived porous carbon structure shows higher Li storing and stable cycle performance. It contains a lot of N and Co consisting graphitic carbon structure. To understand mechanisms of Li storing and roles of doping atoms in porous carbon framework, we performed atomic modeling using first principle calculations. Li formation energies in graphite structure were calculated with various Li cluster configurations and these were compared with the values in N-doped or Co-N- doped graphite structures. We elucidated that electron charge transfer from Li to Co plays important role of Li uniform growth. Our atomic model can give a good insight of design guidance for Li metal host frameworks.
대용량 공간 데이터에 대한 그리드 기반 분산 색인 기법

최근 GPS를 탑재한 스마트 기기의 보급으로 인해 사용자의 위치 정보를 이용한 위치기반서비스(LBS)가 많은 관심 속에 급속도로 성장하고 있다. 대부분의 위치기반서비스는 사용자의 위치를 바탕으로 주변의 유용한 정보를 제공하고 있으며 이러한 사용자 주변의 유용한 정보를 효율적으로 검색하기 위해서는 공간데이터에 대한 색인 기법이 필요하다. 그러나 기존 공간 색인은 대부분 중앙 집중식 환경에서 연구가 진행되었고 분산 스토리지 환경에 대한 연구는 미흡하다. 따라서 본 연구는 서비스 성장과 더불어 서비스 영역이 확대됨에 따른 대용량 공간 데이터 환경에서 효율적인 공간 데이터 검색을 지원하는 그리드 기반분산 색인 기법을 제안한다.

Mucoceles usually occur as solitary, asymptomatic, translucent, and dome-shaped cysts containing clear viscous fluid on lower lip or oral mucosa. The authors reviewed the clinical and histopathological findings in 33 patients with mucocele and attempted to clarify the difference between the histopathologic types (retention and extravasation). The results were summarized as follows. 1. Age distribution was from 2 to 53 years and mean age was 21.4 years. Male to female ratio was 1.2:1(18 males.15 females). 2. Histopathologic type was classified. 4 cases(12.1%, mean age.17.3 years) were retention type, 19 cases(57.6%, mean age.'21.5 years) mixed type, and 10 cases(30.3 %, mean age.20.9 years) extravasation type. Among 19 mixed types, 13 cases were retention dominant and 6 cases extravasation dominant. 3. Durations from the onset to the diagnosis could be clarified in 16 cases. Those were below 1 year in 14 cases(87.5% ) and below 3 years in 16 cases all. Mean duration was 9.4 months. 4. The sites of involvement were lower lip(72.7%), tongue(24.3%), and oral mucosa(3.0%), in decreasing order of frequency. 5. The visited departments were otolaryngology(72.7%), dentistry(12.1%), plastic surgery(9,1%) and dermatology(6.1%), in decreasing order of frequency. 6. In the histopathologic observation, surface epithelium was observed in 25 cases (75.8%), cyst in 23 cases(69.7%), granlation tissue in 29 cases(87.9%), mucin in 28 cases(84.8%), surrounding salivary glands in 20 cases(60.6%) and foamy macrophages in 32 cases(97.0% ), 7. Special stains(PAS, D-PAS, and alcian blue at pH2.5 and 0.4) for the mucin were performed in 10 cases. The results were compatible with sialomucin. (Kor J Dsrmatol 28(6):747 757, 1990)
