This study is to show primarily the relevance between city branding and events. There are many researches on the economic impact of events, however there are few academic articles on events in relation with city branding. City is broader concept than tourist destination in geography and brand perception. Events plays as an useful tools for creating positive city branding that draws foreign direct investment, urban development as well as tourists. The contribution of holding events for city branding should be reevaluated and researched from the macro perspective in terms of city level.
미국의 한국 비자면제 프로그램의 법제화에 관한 탐색적 연구

This study is to research the process of legalization of the Unties States visa waiver program for the Korean travelers by the United States House of Representatives for the last decade and to study the identity of the U. S. visa waiver program. Korea is the 7th biggest tourist generating country to the United States and the United States the third biggest to Korea. Nevertheless, Korea didn`t belong to United States visa waiver program that United States government offers for twenty seven countries. Visa waiver program is the unique one that exists only in the United States in the world to provide international travelers with benefits in order to accelerate visiting the United States for the purpose of pleasure and business.

다국적 반도체 패키징 업체의 자회사인 R Korea사가 시장 점유율 확대를 위한 원가 경쟁력을 강화하고자 추진한 신기술 개발 프로젝트인 구리 와이어 본딩 패키징 기술을 개발하였다. 이는 고가의 금 와이어 본딩 패키징 기술을 대체하는 기술이다. 개발한 신기술은 기존 기술에 비해 크게 높은 기술적 성과를 보이고 있지 않으나 장기적으로 기술발전 가능성이 존재한다. 전략적인 면에서 보면 이 기술을 채택할 수 있으나 현재 시장의 상황을 보면 채택이 용이하지 않다. 시장 면에서는 주 시장인 선진국 고가 시장에 도입할 경우 품질 위험성 때문에 고객의 선호 가능성이 낮으나 주변부 시장인 동남아 및 중국 시장의 경우 선호 가능성이 존재한다. 제조 적용 여부에 대해 관련 부서들은 엇갈리는 입장을 내어 놓고 있다. 이 사례는 신기술의 발전 가능성을 보고 전략적 채택을 결정해야 하는지, 여러 부서의 다른 입장을 고려한 통합적 의사결정을 어떻게 해야 하는지에 대해 학습할 수 있는 기회를 제공한다. 이 사례를 통해 기술혁신경영 전략 및 제 부서의 이견을 통합하는 기술혁신 프로세스 관리 이슈를 학습할 수 있다. R Korea, a subsidiary of R multinational company, has developed low cost copper wire bonding technology in order to substitute the gold wire bonding technology, for strengthening the cost competitiveness of R in the world competition. The performance of the copper wire bonding technology does not reveal innovatively high performance. The main market customers, in advanced countries, are less likely to adopt the packaged semiconductors through copper wire bonding than the peripheral market customers in South East Asia and China. Therefore the divisions ranging from R&D to manufacturing show conflicting opinions on applying the technology into the manufacturing process. The case offers opportunity to learn relevant issues on decision making on whether the firm should make strategic decision to accept the new technology from its expectations on future progress of technology and decision making through reviewing various opinions of the divisions. Students can learn the issues in technology innovation management strategy and technology innovation process management for integrating various opinions of the divisions.
국제회의 시장 분석을 통한 국제기구 유치 가능 분야 진단 연구

The rate of establishment of the offices of international organizations in Korean cities is quite low, even when only compared to the rest of the Asian region; and far lower than such North American or European rates. Korea`s hosting of international organizations is less than that of “developing” countries such as Thailand or the Philippines, as well as of fellow “developed” countries like Japan and Singapore. Activities of the international organizations which have already been attracted to establish their offices in Korea seem insignificant, or some of them do not have any public profile at all. Therefore, their socio-economic or external impact is very weak. As a primary work to diagnose the international meeting market through investigating the activities of international organizations, this study analyzes the potentiality of the overall international meeting market. For objective analysis, we have utilized event information from K-MICE by the Korea Tourism Organization from 2010 to 2012 for the short-term perspective, and the prospective events to be held from 2013 to 2020 for the long-term perspective. The resulting analysis shows that there is high potentiality in attracting international organizations in the fields of information / telecommunications, tourism /transportation, climate /environment and banking /finance. There are two ways to host the offices of international organizations: newly establishing them or relocating existing ones. Neither of these options is easy to accomplish. Accordingly, it will be necessary and efficient to develop a strategy to attract international organizations within a specific region (such as Northeast Asia, or Asia & Pacific in macro-perspective). The results of this research can be utilized as preliminary data for attracting international organizations into Korea in the future, as well the significance it has as preliminary foundation-establishing academic research on this topic.
