The objective of this paper is to research ingress/egress of elderly people and analyze the physiological workload using electromyography (EMG). We investigate factors of discomfort while ingress/egress of elderly people. Experiments have been held in a seating buck with 22 elderly people (over 65 years old). The results show that different muscles have been activated during ingress and egress. There is currently a system called “easy access” which helps to access easily when a driver gets into a car. We compare with the current easy access and a new easy access. The new easy access system shows that elderly people use less muscle during in/egress.

The objective of this paper is to investigate driving posture elderly people (over 65 years old) in a normal sedan. We compare elderly driving posture with non-elderly people. We experiment 22 elderly people and 16 non-elderly people in Hyundai Grandeure. In terms of hip-joint center, eye point, and torso angle, the postures are.analyzed. Elderly people sit a little forwarder than non-elderly people. In addition, elderly people’s eye points are closer to the crash pad. The reasons could be 1) elderly people have a short leg length so sit forward, 2) lack of vision compared with non-elderly people, and 3) not comfortable when they drive. The results could be used in areas of a collision test, an interior package layout such as handreach, visibility for elderly people.
