Velopharyngeal insufficiency (VPI) is a disorder that presents difficulty in closure of soft plate against the posterior pharyngeal wall and causes failure of closing of the nasal cavity during oral speech. There are many available treatment modalities to treat severe VPI, and among surgical treatment methods, there is no consensus for gold standard. According to the anatomy and physiologic variations, we can choose the right modality for the surgical treatment. Some recent studies suggest an algorithmic approach for each patient classified by their velopharyngeal port closure pattern and the gap size. In this case report, we present a case report of a patient with congenital cleft palate and tongue tie, who has received superiorly based pharyngeal flap surgery and lingual frenectomy to treat velopharyngeal insufficiency and speech abnormalities. In the second case, the patient was diagnosed with submucosal cleft causing velopharyngeal insufficiency, therefore received pharyngeal flap surgery. In both cases the patient’s post operative speech ability was much improved, with satisfactory results.

As demand for paper cups markedly increases, this has brought about a requirement to develop fast paper cup forming machines. However, the fast manufacturing speed of these machines causes faults to occur more frequently in the final product. To reduce the possibility of producing faulty products, it is necessary to develop technologies to monitor the manufacturing process and diagnose the machine status. In this research, we selected the main driving axis of the forming machine for fault diagnosis. We searched the states of rotational elements related to the driving axis and suggested a fault diagnostic system based on spectrum analysis consisting of a real-time data acquisition device, accelerometers, and a diagnosis algorithm. To evaluate the developed fault diagnostic system, we performed experiments using a test station which resembles the actual paper cup forming machine. As a result, we were able to confirm that the proposed system was sufficiently feasible to diagnose any abnormalities in the operation of the paper cup forming machine.
에큐메니칼 운동 연구 방법론: 세계교회협의회를 중심으로

본 글은 WCC를 중심으로 에큐메니칼 운동의 연구 방법론을 다룬 글이다. WCC가 지금까지 걸어온 길을 분석․평가하여, 앞으로의 에큐메니칼 운동 연구가 나아가야 할 방향을 모색하고자 한다. 에큐메니칼 연구를 함에 있어서 이 운동이 무엇을 말하는지에 대한 범위를 정하는 것이 선행되어야 하기 때문에, 본론에서는 먼저 WCC를 중심으로 에큐메니칼이 어떤 의미를 내포하고 있는지, 그리고 그 의미가 시대와 상황에 따라 어떻게 변했는지를 분석할 것이다. 다음으로, WCC를 중심으로 한 에큐메니칼 운동에 가해지는 비판에 대해 살펴볼 것이다. 에큐메니칼 운동은 종종 종교다원주의 혹은 종교혼합주의로 오인 받고 있고, 선교무용론이라고 공격을 받기도 하며, 하나의 교회를 세우려 한다는 비판에 직면하기도 한다. 이런 비판이 설득력이 떨어지지만, 이것들을 잘 분석하면 역으로 이 운동이 갖는 속성을 짐작해 볼 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 앞으로의 방향을 설정하는 데에도 도움을 줄 수 있다. 마지막으로 에큐메니칼 운동이 필수 불가결하게 지니고 있는 모순들에 대해서 살펴볼 것이다. 에큐메니즘이 자유주의적 요소를 내표하는지의 여부, 일치는 또 다른 분열을 만들게 되는 모순적 상황, 교회의 일치를 추구하는 에큐메니칼 운동이 내부 일치보다 외부 활동에 무게를 두는 상황, 그리고 에큐메니칼 운동이 추구해야 할 궁극적 목표가 부재해 보이는 모순적인 상황에 대해 논할 것이다. 이것은 에큐메니칼 운동의 정체성을 고민하게 해 주어 지금까지의 에큐메니칼 운동을 돌아보고 앞으로의 방향을 설정하는데 도움을 줄 것이다. 결론에서는 현재까지의 에큐메니칼 운동 이해를 바탕으로, 한국적 상황에 맞는 에큐메니칼 운동을 고민해 볼 것이다. 특히 ‘판문점 선언’과 북미정상회담 등으로 급변하는 한반도의 분위기 속에서 에큐메니칼 운동의 방향은 어떻게 되어야 하는지에 대한 필자의 의견을 제시할 것이다. This article expounds the methodology for the ecumenical movement focusing on the World Council of Churches. I analyze the history and characteristics of the WCC’s development and suggest a pathway for the future study of ecumenical movement. The main discussion is divided into three parts. The first is an exposition of the various meanings of ‘ecumenism’ throughout the history of the WCC, for having a clear understanding and establishing a definite range of the term is crucial if we are to understand the WCC’s aims and purpose. The second part of the discussion consists of an analysis of criticisms of the ecumenical movement pertaining to religious pluralism, religious syncretism, the ineffectiveness of missions and a united, world-wide church. These criticisms, as I show, can indeed serve to improve our understanding of ecumenism. The third and final part of the main discussion consists of an attempt to understand intrinsic contradictions which ecumenism suffers: that of whether ecumenical movements necessitate further splits among churches and whether there is, or can be, an ultimate end or goal of the movement. It is hoped that these reflections assist scholars in their thinking about the nature and aims of ecumenism. After providing a brief summary of the main points raised, I conclude with some suggestions pertaining to the future study of ecumenical movements in South Korea.

A paper cup forming machine performs the entire process to produce paper cups. Recently, as the demand for paper cups in various fields increases, the need for rapid and timely paper cup forming also increases. However, the more rapid the manufacturing speed is, the higher the possibility of forming failure. Frequent fault occurrences cause a time-consuming and costly repair process and reduces manufacturing efficiency. Among various fault factors in this research, position deviation of the paper from the original position, which induces a jamming and process stop, was selected and a novel deviation detecting system using multiple photo sensors was suggested. Before operating the position detecting system, the performance of the photo sensors was evaluated with respect to response speed and photo beam precision. A deviation detecting mechanism was designed. The developed deviation detecting system was integrated with the paper cup forming machine and experimented with using base papers. It was conformed that the suggested system could be used to diagnose paper deviation failure.
