이 연구는 범죄율의 변화가 사회의 변동과 무관하지 않을 것이라는 가정 하에서 시작되었다. 논자에 따라 이견은 있을 수 있지만, 한국사회에서 1980년 이후의 중요한 변동의 시기는1987년 민주화와 1997년 외환위기라고 할 수 있다. 이 연구는 장기적이고 거시적인 관점에서 범죄발생의 요인으로 지적되고 있는 범죄통제 요인과 경제관련요인, 그리고 1987년 민주화와 1997년 외환위기와 같은 한국사회의 중요한 사회변동을 연결 지어 이를 경험적으로 분석하고자 하였다. 하지만, 범죄에 영향을 미치는 요인들이 범죄유형에 따라 조건적으로 작용할 수 있다는 점을 고려하여 범죄를 재산범죄와 강력범죄로 구분하여 분석을 시도하였다. 이론적 논의를 통해 도출된 관련 변인들을 조작화하고 자료를 수집하여 시계열 분석을 실시한 결과 다음과 같은 몇 가지 사항을 발견하였다. 첫째로 범죄유형별로 요인들의 영향력이 서로 다르게 나타나는 것을 발견하였다. 재산범죄의 경우 경제적 규모가 커지고, 국가권력이 보다 민주적이고 덜 독재적일수록, 실업률 및 소득불평등이 증가할수록, 그리고 경찰 1인당 담당 인구수가 증가할수록 재산범죄율은 증가하였다. 반면, 강력범죄의 경우에는 오직 실업률만이 강력범죄율의 증가에 유의미한 영향력을 나타냈다. 둘째로 재산범죄율과 강력범죄율의 변화 양상을 시기별로 구분하여 살펴본 결과 시점의 효과가 서로 다르게 나타나는 것을 알 수 있다. 즉 1987년과 1997년이라는 두 시점을 기준으로 재산범죄율과 강력범죄율의 추세를 분석했을 때, 오직 1997년 이후의 시기에만 재산범죄율이 부적으로 감소한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 거시적 사회변동과 범죄현상이 특정한 사건에 의해 영향을 받기 보다는 누적적이고 산재해 있는 사회구조적 요인들에 의해서 영향을 받을 가능성이 크다는 것을 의미한다. 동시에, 이러한 사회구조적 요인이 범죄율에 미치는 영향력이라는 것도 범죄유형에 따라 다르다는 사실을 말해 주고 있다. This study examines crime in relation to social change in the Korean society. We adopt a criminological approach to social change and focus mainly on the relationship between macro social change and changes in crime rates. We propose that there are some notable relationships between social change and crime rates, and to test this we empirically analyzed the relationships between macro measures such as social control, economic inequality, and major societal changes as like the democratization in 1987 and the economic crisis in 1997. The findings can be summarized as follows. Firstly, if the state becomes more democratic, less repressive, and higher in unemployment and inequality rates, the property crime rate increases. This confirms the findings of existing research that the property crime rate increases as the economic inequality and unemployment increase. However, only the unemployment rate has a significant relationship with the violent crime rate. The weaker capacity of the police also increases the property crime rate but does not hold any significant relationship with the violent crime rate. Secondly, in terms of the changes in the property crime and the violent crime rate, the economic crisis in 1997 had a significant influence on the property crime rate, but not on the violent crime rate. Based on the findings stated above, this is to be expected as the economic crisis in 1997 is much more likely to induce economic inequality, massive unemployment crisis and anomic conditions that influence on the property crime rate than the democratization in 1987. The differential effects of these two turning points, namely, the democratization in 1987 and the economic crisis in 1997, supports the argument that unemployment rate has a short-term crime reduction effect.

When a water jet is injected on the body surface, the pressure and shear stress on the surface are important physical parameters in determining the body surface wash out and physical stimulus. We used the force plate in order to measure the surface average pressure for different nozzle types and distances between a nozzle and a plate. We used the nozzles with a hole dimeter of 1.8, 2.9, 3.2㎜, and the shower heads with 10 holes (hole diameter, 1㎜) and 20 holes (hole diameter, 1㎜). The distances between a nozzle and a plate was 10, 20, 30, 40㎝. The results showed that the surface forces were not affected by the distances between a nozzle and a plate. Further numerical studies will be performed to predict wall shear stress based on the measured pressure data.
