본 연구는 「주생전周生傳」에 등장하는 남녀 주인공들이 애정적인 요소보다는 욕망적인 요소를 추구하면서 서로의 관계를 진척하는 과정에 초점을 두고 이들이 삼각관계라는 구도 속에서 저마다 욕망을 지향하는 목적이 다르게 나타나는 과정과 그러한 욕망이 좌절되는 과정을 분석하는 데 논의의 목적을 둔다. 남녀의 애정관계와 성은 인간의 욕망에 의해 발현되지만 대상을 향한 주체의 욕망은 성취하려는 정도에 따라 그 양상도 달라진다. 기존의 전기소설에서 남녀의 애정이 서로에게 절대적이고 변함없는 특징을 보였다면 「주생전」에서 그려지는 남녀지간은 서로에게 상대적‧의존적인가 하면 욕망의 대상이 전이되기도 한다. 이는 작품에서 구현되는 삼각관계 구도가 기존의 소설들과 다르게 주인공들 간에 애정적인 요소만으로 구성되지 않은 점을 입증한다. 주인공의 경우, 배도俳桃는 ‘신분회복’·선화仙花는 ‘현실초월’‧주생周生은 ‘성적 향락’이라는 지향 요소를 갖고 있으며 세 사람은 개별적으로 욕망 실현을 통해 당면한 문제를 해결하고자 한다. 이 과정에서 특히 주생이 욕망의 대상을 전이시킴으로써 욕망의 좌절을 야기함에 따라 서사의 전개에 갈등을 일으키는 양상과 그 여파에 주목할 필요가 있다. 이에 본고는 「주생전」이 인간의 다양한 심리를 등장인물 간에 얽힌 욕망의 문제를 통해 사실적으로 전달하는 점에서 서사의 가치를 드러나는 것을 파악하고 나아가 등장인물들의 삼각관계 구도 속에서 드러나는 각각의 욕망의 성격을 사회상과 연계하여 분석함으로써 새로운 문학적 의미가 무엇인지를 논의해 보고자 한다. This study is to aim that characters who appear in 「Jusaeng-Jun」 focus on going forward relationships with one another, pursuing a desirable component rather than an affective one and to analyze a process of revealing different objects of desires and a process of desires being frustrated in a structure of triangular relation. Romantic relationship of men and women is revealed by a human being’s desire but the subject’s desire toward the object is different by accomplished degrees. Relationship between men and women from former novels showed a absolute and constant attitude each other but that from 「Jusaeng-Jun」 is relative and dependent and moves to a new desirable object. In this work, a structure of triangular relation doesn’t consist of factors of affection between characters unlike existing novels. In the case of characters, each oh them has an oriented component : recovering social position of Beado, irreality of Sunhwa and a sexual instinct of Jusaeng. They individually seek to meet problems that are being faced through real ization of desire. In this course, as Jusaeng causes a frustration of desire by moving to an object of desire, it is necessary to note an aspect and an aftermath of creating a conflict from a narrative development. I can find the value of narration in that 「Jusaeng-Jun」 delivers various psychology of humanity realistically through desirable problems with characters and I want to discuss what the meaning of literary is by analyzing the connection between the nature of desire with one another and a social aspect in a structure of triangular relation.

훼절을 통해 본 ‘행위’와 ‘공간’의 상관관계-<지봉전>을 중심으로-

본 연구는 <지봉전>의 ‘애정담’과 ‘훼절담’이라는 두 서사구조에서 전개되는 남녀 주인공들의 행위중심과 공간중심을 훼절이라는 서사적 장치를 통해 분석하였다. 이 소설의 서사적 흐름은 애정담에서 발생한 문제를 훼절담에서 해결하는 방식으로 유기적 관계를 형성하는 특징을 보이고 있는데, 그 중심에는 절대권력 효종의 역할이 있다. 효종은 복상이라는 인물의 욕망에 대한 정당성을 지봉의 훼절을 통해 보여주고 있는데 이러한 설정은 <지봉전>의 훼절 의미가 여타의 작품과는 다르게 재현되고 있음을 명백히 한다. 이와 더불어 <지봉전>의 두 개의 서사구조에서는 남녀지간의 육체적 관계가 어떻게 실현되고 있는지 중점적으로 전개되고 있다. 그런데 주인공들 간의 행위에 따른 결과는 ‘처벌’과 ‘포상’이라는 이원적 요소로 드러나고 있으며 행위를 중심으로 펼쳐지는 공간의 기능 또한 마찬가지로 ‘닫힘’과 ‘열림’이라는 이원적 요소로 구현되고 있다. 본 연구에서 주목하는 사안이 바로 이러한 대립적인 구도와 그에 따른 의미파악이다. 이처럼 해석을 확장하여 본 연구는 훼절의 관점에서 바라본 <지봉전>의 행위는 ‘제도적으로 금지된 성적행위’와 ‘의도적으로 계획된 성적행위’라는 측면에서 처벌과 포상을, 공간은 ‘궁의 공간적 특성’과 ‘평안도 지역의 공간적 특성’이라는 측면에서 닫힘과 열림을 중심으로 전개되고 있음을 분석하였다. <지봉전>이 애정담과 훼절담이라는 두 개의 서사구조로 구성된 점에 주목한 것도 바로 이러한 인과적 구성에 의해 생성된 훼절이 여타의 훼절소설과 확연히 구별되는 작품이기 때문이다. This study is to analyze the center of action and space of the male and female characters through < Ji-bongjeon >’s two narrative structures-The love story and Sexualcorruption story. The narrative current of this novel forms an organic relationship where the problem which happened in love story is solved in sexualcorruption story and it is the role of an authoritarian ruler, King Hyojong who is at the center. King Hyojong shows the justification of Bok-Sang’s desire through Ji-bong’s hewjol, which reveals the meaning of < Ji-bongjeon >’s hewjol is different from that of other works. In addition, in < Ji-bongjeon >’s two narrative structure, how the physical relationship between men and women is realize is mainly unfolded. But the outcome from the behaviors between main characters reveals conflict-punishment and reward. The results of the behaviors between the main characters are revealed as dualistic elements: punishment and reward, and the spatial functions unfolding in the middle of the behavior is also implemented as dualistic elements: closure and openness. In this study, The remarkable issue is this structure of conflict and catching the meaning caused by that. It was analyzed that by expanding an interpretation like this, < Ji-bongjeon >’s behavior from the point of view of hewjol shows the punishment and the reward in terms of institutionally forbiden sexual behavior and intentionally intended sexual behavior and the space is centered on closing and opening in terms of 'Spatial characteristics of the palace' and 'Spatial characteristics of the Pyeongan-do area'. It is noteworthy that < Ji-bongjeon > is composed of two narrative structures-The love story and Sexualcorruption story because the hewjol made by this causal plot is definitely distinguished from that of other hewjol novels.
