The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between HNR and NNE, EGG HNR and EGG NNE, which are most closely related to noise of voice. Dr. Speech was utilized to obtain acoustic measurements and physiologic measurements, simulta-neously. In addition, no normative data of HNR, NNE, EGG HNR, EGG NNE are available in Korean subjects at present. The Pearson correlation coefficient was used to find the correlation between HNR and NNE, EFF HNR and EGG NNE. The results of the study were as follows: First, there was no correlation between HNR and NNE. Second, there was a negative correlation between EGG HNR and EGG NNE. Finally, the mean value of HNR of normal Korean adults was 28.8±2.7 ㏈, that of NNE -11.7±3.9 ㏈, that of EGG HNR 32.9±4.6 ㏈, and that of EGG NNE -30.3±4.6 ㏈.

We investigated the characteristics of nano crystalline silicon(nc-Si) thin-film solar cells on graphite substrates. Amorphous silicon(a-Si) thin-film solar cells on graphite plates show low conversion efficiency due to high surface roughness, and many recombination by dangling bonds. In previous studies, we deposited barrier films by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition(PECVD) on graphite plate to reduce surface roughness and achieved ~7.8 % cell efficiency. In this study, we fabricated nc-Si thin film solar cell on graphite in order to increase the efficiency of solar cells. We achieved 8.45 % efficiency on graphite plate and applied this to nc-Si on graphite sheet for flexible solar cell applications. The characterization of the cell is performed with external quantum efficiency(EQE) and current density-voltage measurements(J-V). As a result, we obtain ~8.42 % cell efficiency in a flexible solar cell fabricated on a graphite sheet, which performance is similar to that of cells fabricated on graphite plates.

There is a significant correlation between language and mental resources. To perform concurrently a couple of tasks exceeding our limited mental resources, we have to effectively allocate our limited mental resources or maximize our mental resources. The main purpose of this study was to investigate the 'entrainment effect' of dual tasks to increase the speed of language comprehension with 30 young normal people. To investigate the entrainment effect of dual tasks, all participants were asked to perform concurrently visuo-manual tracking and sentence plausibility judgment in which tracking errors and vocal reaction times were measured as the dependent variables. The results showed that subjects revealed faster comprehension speed in the faster tracking condition than the slower tracking condition. However, there was no significant difference of tracking errors according to the level of sentence difficulties. There was no speed-accuracy trade-off between the speed of sentence comprehension and sentence plausibility judgment accuracy. It indicated that the entrainment effect caused by visuo-manual tracking might increase the speed of language comprehension. The results of this study indicated that the entrainment effect might introduce a new intervention technique to rehabilitate persons with aphasia. Therefore, it was hoped that appropriate stimuli modalities and presentation methods to utilize the entrainment effect would be investigated in the future.
실어증 환자의 실행주의력과 작업기억력 및 언어장애 사이의 상관관계 분석

Following the suggestion that the cognitive construct of attention may be related to the impaired language performance in aphasia, the relation between language processing and attention has been a key concern in aphasiology. To examine the nature of executive attention in persons with aphasia, this study asked 10 persons with aphasia and 20 normal controls to conduct the picture-word interference task, language tests, and working memory tests. As for the relationship between executive attention and language competence and between executive attention and working memory, the statistical analysis with the correlation coefficient was used Correlational analyses showed that executive attention has a close relationship with participants’ language ability and working memory span. The findings in this study support a growing body of evidences identifying executive attentional impairments as a source or a consequence of the language deficit in persons with aphasia. It is hoped that this experimental study initiates and stimulates theoretical and clinical discussion of executive attentional issues in the assessment and treatment of aphasia.
단일 작업기억 용량과 작업기억의 평균 용량에 대한 상관연구

Purpose: The utilization of working memory (WM) has been increased for the last two decades in various academic areas. Many studies using working memory have suggested that to avoid the bias of task modalities (i.e., linguistic or visuospatial), at least three WM tasks should be used to get valid WM spans. In order to examine the bias of WM capacities between single and multiple WMs, this study explored the capacities of five single WM tasks and the average capacities of three WM tasks. Methods: This study recruited 20 young normal adults without any disorder affecting WM tasks. They completed running span, operation span, backward digit span, symmetry span, and rotation span. They also completed a picture-word interference task with two options of incongruent proportion as the executive attention. The collected data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and t-tests. Results: First, operation span and backward digit span as single WM tasks had significant correlation with the average capacities of three working memory tasks. Second, operation span had significant correlation with the response time of the 25% incongruent condition in the picture-word interference tasks. Third, the operation span task had a significant relationship with all four combinations of the three working memory tasks. Conclusions: The results of this study indicated that the operation span task among single WM tasks may be used to measure a valid WM capacity, if researchers could not use at least three WM tasks due to time or other limitations. Further research needs to be conducted to determine whether the operation span task could be considered as the most powerful single WM task compared to other WMs.
