The in-process monitoring of $CO_2$ welding of Zn-coated steel plates has been studied and compared with that of conventional thin plates. Relationships between weld defects and plasma emission signals were evaluated in laser lap joint of thick Zn-coated steel. According to the study, weld defects were found to increase with Zn content. As a result, measured plasma emission signals also decreased. In case of plate with $15{\mu}m$-thick Zn-coated layer, defects caused by evaporation of Zn could, therfore, controled by gap of 0.1mm, resulting in a stable emission signals. However, the amplitude of signals fluctuated very widely. Variation of amplitude sould be limited in 3-8V by FFT smoothing.

Experimental data for the flows in a mixing tank with a bottom agitator are useful for the validation of CFD commercial code. A hybrid volume PIV measurement technique was constructed to measure the flows inside of the mixing tank. The measurement system consists of three cameras. An agitator was installed at the bottom of the tank and it rotates clockwise and counterclockwise. Using the constructed measurement system, instantaneous vector fields were obtained. A phase averaging technique was adopted for the measured instantaneous three-dimensional velocity vector fields. Turbulent properties were evaluated from the instantaneous vector fields.

The equipment of industrial robot in manufacturing and assembly lines has rapidly increased. In order to achieve high productivity and flexibility, it becomes very important to develop the visual feedback control system with Off-Line Programming System(OLPS). We can save much efforts and time in adjusting robots to newly defined workcells by using OLPS. A proposed visual calibration scheme is based on position-based visual feedback. The calibration program firstly generates predicted images of objects in an assumed end-effector position. The process to generate predicted images consists of projection to screen-coordinates, visible range test, and construction of simple silhouette figures. Then, camera images acquired are compared with predicted ones for updating position and orientation data. Computation of error is very simple because the scheme is based on perspective projection, which can be also expanded to experimental results. Computation time can be extremely reduced because the proposed method does not require the precise calculation of tree-dimensional object data and image Jacobian.
가스메탈아크 육성용접을이용한 STS316L의 표면처리 특성에 관한 연구

본 고에서는 Fe계 비정질 합금을 표면육성 용접 하였으며, 가스메탈아크용접 공정을 이용하여, 혼합가스를 사용하였다. 표면육성용접충의 기계적 성질을 평가 하였으며, 미세조직을 관찰하였고, EDS 정성분석을 수행하였다. 각각의 시험결과 가스메탈아크용접법의 표면육성용접용으로의 타당성과 혼합비율의 최적의 조건을 도출하여 다음과 같은 결론을 내렸다. 인장강도 및 항복강도와 미세경도시험 결과 Ar 99% + O₂ 1%에서 가장 높게 나타났지만, 그 차이는 미비 하였다. 하지만 O₂ 2% 이상부터는 감소하는 경향을 나타냈다. 조직관찰 결과 Ar 99% + O₂ 1%의 모재와 함금층의 경계부에서 수지상정 미세조직의 가장 적게 나타났다. 이는 합금의 경우 먼저 응고하는 부분과 나중에 응고하는 부분의 조성이 차이로 인하여 녹은 금속이 응고될 때 생기는 나뭇가지 모양으로 모재와 합금의 용융이 적게 되었음을 알 수 있었다.

This study is related to the laser weldability of AZ31B magnesium alloy, an all-purpose wrought alloy with good strength and ductility. CW and pulsed Nd:YAG laser are used to make butt and lap joints respectively. In butt welding of magnesium alloy with the thickness of 1.2㎜, the effects of welding conditions on the weldability were examined in more detail. In addition, the mechanical properties of butt joints were investigated by tensile and hardness tests. Consequently, a superior weld with nearly the equivalent strength and the half elongation of the base metal was obtained. In case of magnesium alloy with the thickness of 0.6㎜, lap welding was performed with two types of pulse wave(square and variable pulse shapes) to control weld defects. As a result, the crack and porosity were occurred in the weld, and these defects had not been controlled by general square pulse shape. But through the application of variable pulse shape, sound welds were obtained without the defects.

Stainless steel is widely used for construction, maufacturing and ship building as well as living goods. The Welding using laser has low heat input and rapid processing is possible. So it is expected that the laser welding can be used for the ultra violet LED which has been developing to sterilize ballast tank, and increase the productivity of ship building. These process have to be carried out within ship inside. Therefore, basic researches for welding of stainless steel using fiber laser which is possible to be miniaturized are needed. In welding of 8t 316L stainless steel using fiber laser, the penetration depth is greatly depend on laser power rather than welding speed. When only the welding speed is low, the laser power has huge effect on bead width.
