아랍 나라들에 전례없는 놀라운 현상이 나타나고 있다. 그 현상은 아랍 나라들의 많은 무슬림이 자신이 믿던 이슬람 신앙에 대해 고민하고 회의하다 결국 이슬람을 떠나가는 ‘무신론 현상’ 혹은 ‘탈이슬람 현상’이다. 아랍 언론이 수백만명의 무슬림이 이슬람을 떠났다고 전문가들의 말을 인용해 보도했고, 그것으로 인해 아랍권 SNS들이 떠들썩했으며, 무슬림 사회가 큰 충격을 받았다. 아직도 이 현상은 진행 중이며, 아랍 공동체에서 논란과 파장은 계속되고 있다. 오늘날 ‘무신론 현상’ 혹은 ‘탈이슬람 현상’은 아랍 국가들의 정치적 요인, 사회적 요인, 종교적 요인 등으로 인한 것이다. 더 구체적으로는 21세기 아랍권에서 정보소통의 혁명이 가능하게 한 인터넷의 발달과 극단주의 이슬람(혹은 정치적 이슬람) 단체들이 미친 부정적인 영향 등이 그 요인이라 할 수 있다. 아랍 나라들의 무신론 현상은 무슬림이 1400년 역사 가운데 한 번도 경험하지 못한 최초의 사건이자 최대의 변화라 할 수 있다. 이러한 무신론 현상에 대한 기독교 선교적 함의는 1) 이슬람과 기독교 본질의 차이를 분명히 확인할 수 있다, 2) 이슬람 나라들에서의 선교적 돌파의 가능성을 볼 수 있다, 3) 아랍권의 무신론 현상이 인터넷 혁명으로 인한 것이기에 온라인 선교에 힘써야 한다, 4) 객관적인 이슬람 비평학을 발전시키는 것이 중요하다. Today unprecedented and surprising phenomena are occurring in Arab countries. The phenomenon is the ‘atheism phenomenon’ or ‘de-Islam phenomenon’ in which many Muslims in Arab countries ponder and doubt about the Islamic faith they believed in and eventually leave Islam. Arab media reported, citing experts that millions of Muslims had left Islam, causing a stir on Arab social media and shocking the Muslim community. This phenomenon is still ongoing and the Arab community continues to discuss this controversy and its repercussions. The current ‘atheism phenomenon’ or ‘de-Islam phenomenon’ is due to political, social and religious factors in Arab countries. More specific factors include the development of the Internet which enabled the information communication revolution in the Arab world in the 21st century and the negative impact of extremist Islamic (or political Islam) groups. The phenomenon of atheism in Arab countries is the first and biggest change that Muslims have never experienced in their 1400-year history. The Christian mission implications of this phenomenon of atheism are: 1) the difference between the essence of Islam and Christianity can be clearly identified 2) there is a possibility of mission breakthrough in Islamic countries 3) We should strive for online mission work since the phenomenon of atheism in the Arab world is due to the internet revolution 4) It is important to develop objective Islamic criticism.
