Tuber of Aconitum chiisanense(Ranunculaceae) a specific medicinal plant in Korea, which is known to have the activity to recover reduced metabolism of feeble patients and has been used to symptoms such as pain, paralysis, atonia and coldness of extremities, etc. were studied. The powdered tubers of the plant were extracted with 10% EtOH 3 times and the combined extract was dissolved in 1N HCl solution and washed with ethyl acetate. The aqueous layer was basified with solid Na2CO3 and extracted with CHCl3 to obtain an alkaloidal fraction. The alkaloidal fraction was subjected to column chromatography using silica gel, alumina and Sephdex LH 20, etc. From the alkaloidal fraction, five diterpene alkaloids, mesaconitine, aconitine, hypaconitine, 8-O-ethyl 14-benzoylmesaconine and talatizamine, were isolated and identified on the basis of their physico-chemical properties and spectroscopic evidences(1H-, 13C-NMR, EI-MS, IR, 2D-NMR) respectively. Especially the Compound IV, 8-O-ethyl 14-benzoylmesaconine, was assumed to be an artifact resulting from mesaconitine during extraction procedures. The contents of mesaconitine, aconitine and hypaconitine in the mother tuber of this plant were 0.300%, 0.024%, and 0.068%. And that of the attached tuber(new one) of this plant were 0.336%, 0.034% and 0.240% respectively.

For the investigation of medicinal resources from Taraxacum species, the studies were carried out to evaluate the pharmaco-constituents in the aerial part of Taroxacum hallaisanensis, an endemic plant of Korea. From BuOH fraction of the MeOH extract, compound 1 (protocatechuic acid, $C_7H_6O_4,\;3,4-dihydroxy\;benzoic\;acid)$, compound 2 $[C_{22}H_{31}O_6,\;luteolin-7-O-{\alpha}-_L-rhamnopyranosyl(1{\rightarrow}6)-{\beta}-_D-glucopyranoside]$, and compound 3 $[C_{15}H_{20}O_6,\;luteolin-7-O-{\beta}-_D-glucopyranoside]$ were isolated by column chromatographic separation using polyamide and ODS-gel. The structures were elucidated by means of physico-chemical evidences($^1H-NMR,\;{12}^C-NMR$, IR, EI-Mass, FAB-Mass and GC).

As a series of the studies on the specific and indigenous plants of Mt. Halla, the constituents from stem of Rhamnus taquetii (Rhamnaceae) were investigated. From the water fraction of the MeOH extract, a new flavonol glycoside, kaempferide-3-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1->3)-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1-6)-beta-D-galactopyranoside, was isolated with three known compounds, quercetin, quercetin-3-methylether, kaempferol, by column chromatographic separation using Amberlite XAD-2, ODS-gel and Sephadex LH-20 and elucidated physico-chemical evidences(1H-NMR, 13C-NMR,IR,EI-Mass,FAB-Mass, and G.C.), respectively.

As one of the serial studies on the specific and indigenous plants of Mt. Chiri the constituents of aerial part from Filipendula formosa (Rosaceae) were investigated. From of the MeOH extract, five flavonol glycosides, kaempferol-3-O-beta-D-glactopyranoside, quercetin-3-0-beta-D-galactopyranoside, quercetin-3-0-alpha-L-rhamopyranosyl (1→6)-beta-D-galactopyranoside, kaempferol-3-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl (1→6)-beta-D-ga-lactopyranoside and quercetin-7-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-3-O-beta-D-galactopyranoside were isolated by column chromatographic separation using Amberlite XAD-2 and Sephadex LH-20, and identified physico-chemical evidences (IR, FAB-Mass, 1H, 13C-NMR).

For the investigation of medicinal resources in Aconitum species, the studies were carried out to search the less toxic. constituents than Aconitum alkaloid in the aerial part of Aconitum jaluense for. album (Ranunculaceae). From the BuOH fraction of MeOH extract, three flavonoid compounds, hyperoside(1), kaempferol 3-O-β-D-galactopyranoside(2), kaempferol-3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→6)-(β-D-glucopyranoside (3) were isolated and identified on the basis of their physico-chemical properties, spectroscopic evidences (UV, IR, NMR and Mass etc.) and comparison with authentics, respectively.
