Since the final act of the "Directive 2000/53/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 September 2000 on end-of-life vehicles" it is clear that all vehicles up to 3.75 tons have to eliminate cadmium, mercury, lead and hexavalent chromium. Starting July I^st 2003, all suppliers must ensure that materials and components of vehicles put on the market do not contain these hazardous elements Especially, as Cr(VI) is suspected to cause cancer, it is clear that hexavalent chromium has to be substituted in corrosion preventative coatings.<br/> This study is focused on the application of Cr(Ⅲ) chromating which have no restrictions on its use as a passivator in zinc deposits.<br/> <br/>

Recently, application of LED is an increasing trend on automobile headlamp part as a new light source. The LED has many merits to apply automobile field such as high energy efficiency, eco-environment, strong durability and easyadaptable design. However, even though these many benefits, it is not easy to apply to headlamp due to heat release process. Most important process on LED is how heat release system can be organized. A poor handling of heat release is harmful to LED, finally it bring about shorten durability. To deal with heat release, some functional parts such as pan, heat sink are added. These added parts that were not considered in halogen lamp system make an increasing lamp module weigh. In this study, to forbid an increasing lamp module weight and to aid heat release, we used carbon nano tube coating on surface of heat sink. As a result, we expected that it could be reduced about 10 % heat sink weight using carbon nano tube coating.

The application of high strength steel contribute to mass efficiency with excellent performance. And Galvannealed steel(GA) has good corrosion resistance. It's demand is rapidly increasing for automotive parts. In this study, light weight reduction of automotive chassis parts by application of hot rolled 590 Mpa grade dual phase steel which was newly developed was performed. Furthermore, Galvannealed steel is tested corrosion resistance by CCT(Cyclic Corrosion Test) with automotive steel, those welding and painting behavior were shown good performance. For checking the durability of the automotive parts adopted the developed steel, various test were carried out, and the result was compatible with the present mass production parts. The result in this study indicated that the corrosion resistance at the cross cut was improved by galvannealing of sheet steels.

Recently, an electronic components in automobiles filed are increased rapidly according to demanding of additional convenience and special function. Because risk of electromagnetic interference among the electronic components is growing, it should be found shielding control system such as shielding cover or filter algorithms. In this study, it was focus on CNT(Carbon Nano Tube) polymer compound for reduction weight instead of metal. The CNT provided electrical conductivity to polymer compound. We considered the application of CNT polymer compound on automobile electronic components as the shielding materials using surface resistance and shielding effect. Injection mold that it is one of the most important processes in polymer compound brings about the change of surface resistance due to CNT re-agglomeration. So, we should control its temperature inside of mold to protect CNT dispersion. Finally, we could know that CNT polymer compound was able to apply as the shielding materials.

In this study, the copper clad aluminum (CCA) wires for HEV traction motors were developed by controlling a content of Cu and the size of wires. In particular, in-depth investigations of cohesion ability between copper outer shell and aluminum core were carried under severe thermal conditions. In addition, the prototypes of HEV traction motor were synthesized for evaluations of the efficiency and heating values of motors. The results showed the equal performance and weight savings as compared to existing copper wires applied motors.

최근 자동차의 성능향상에 따라 브레이크용 마찰재는 고기능 특성이 요구되는 한편, 환경문제 대두로 인하여 친환경 마찰재를 필요로 하고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 유해물질인 안티몬 화합물, 세라믹섬유 그리고 중금속을 사용하지 않으며, 소음 및 진동특성이 우수한 NAO계 마찰재와 제동특성 및 열적 안정성이 우수한 Low Steel계 마찰재의 장점을 조합한 친환경 퓨전형 마찰재 개발을 목표로 하고 있다. 유해물질인 안티몬화합물 및 세라믹 섬유는 금속화합물 및 광물섬유로 대체개발 완료하였으며, 성능 및 NVH향상을 위해서 Steel함유 최소화, 연삭제 조절, 수지종류 변경등 실험계획법을 통해 최적 배합비 조건을 선정하였다. 개발된 마찰재 특성을 평가하기 위하여 경도, 압축 변형량등 물리적 특성, 마찰계수 및 마모특성등 제동성능 특성 그리고 소음진동과 관련된 NVH 특성을 평가하였다. 평가결과 경도, 압축 변형량등 물리적 특성은 현재 사용중인 마찰재와 동등수준이었으며, 마찰계수, Fade특성, 마모특성 등 제동 성능, NVH특성 또한 기존 사용 마찰재와 유사한 특성을 나타내었다.

Automobiles always have Severe environmental conditions. Therefore, Rubber parts of automobiles also are exposed to such severe conditions that automobiles have environmentally and durably. Particularly, Brake systems demand heavy durabilities and broad temperature conditions between about 120℃ and -40℃. Due to these conditions, it has been difficult that rubber are substituted to thermoplastic materials in the field of automobile industry. However, Environment-Friendly and Recyclability have made TPV (Thermoplastic Vulcanization) or TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomer) applied to automobile. In North-American and European automobile industry, Many precedents for TPV substitution could be investigated as well as in Japanese industry. In Brake system, PP/EPDM could be satisfied the severe conditions with both durability and environment conditions.
