To investigate the effects of independent suspension technology(IST) of hiking boot on the stability and load of foot, eight participants performed medial and lateral drop landing from 33.4cm height and 85cm distance to uneven surface while wearing normal & IST hiking boots. For the stability of foot during the drop landing, the balance angle & suspension angle and rearfoot angle was analyzed using high-speed video analysis. Also kinetic analysis using the force plate and insole pressure measurement was conducted to analyze vertical & breaking ground reaction force and pressure distribution. Not only the balance angle & suspension angle but also rearfoot angle was improved with IST boots for lateral drop landing. These results indicate the IST boots may have the suspension function which keeps the foot to be stable during landing. However the IST boots did not show any effect for medial landing. This might be related to the hardness of medial part of outsole. Therefore the softer outsole of medial part could be recommended. Furthermore the impact force & breaking force and insole pressure were reduced with IST boot. These results means that IST boot has not only cushioning effect but also good grip effect. Therefore the hiking boots applied the independent suspension function may help to reduce fatigue and prevent injury such as ankle sprain in hiking on uneven surface.
A Business Application of the Business Intelligence and the Big Data Analytics

Lately, there have been tremendous shifts in the business technology landscape. Advances in cloud technology and mobile applications have enabled businesses and IT users to interact in entirely new ways. One of the most rapidly growing technologies in this sphere is business intelligence, and associated concepts such as big data and data mining. BI is the collection of systems and products that have been implemented in various business practices, but not the information derived from the systems and products. On the other hand, big data has come to mean various things to different people. When comparing big data vs business intelligence, some people use the term big data when referring to the size of data, while others use the term in reference to specific approaches to analytics. As the volume of data grows, businesses will also ask more questions to better understand the data analytics process. As a result, the analysis team will have to keep up with the rising demands on the infrastructure that supports analytics applications brought by these additional requirements. It’s also a good way to ascertain if we have built a valuable analysis system. Thus, Business Intelligence and Big Data technology can be adapted to the business’ changing requirements, if they prove to be highly valuable to business environment.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of suspension function of hiking boot on the stability of foot. 8 participants free from injury to the triceps surae muscle group in recent years and were able to perform landing participated in this test. 2-D kinematic analysis and kinetic analysis were conducted for the data acquisition. The maximum suspension angle of suspension boot was greater than that of normal boot for eversion condition; on the contrary the maximum loading rate of normal boot was greater than that of suspension boot for inversion condition. These results meant that the suspension function helps the boot keep stable shortly after landing through the control of rearfoot angle. Moreover if we apply a lower threshold level at medial part of boot, suspension function will show its ability even though at medial landing. It was concluded that an improved suspension function may help to reduce fatigue and prevent injury such as ankle sprain in hiking on uneven surface.

We studied 114 elite high school and college level Taekwondo players and obtained 12 anthropometric measurements. Based on the result, we examined the size difference between left and right foot, found the foot length/foot size ratio, and calculated regression equation between the two. The findings of this study are as follow: Taekwondo players' right foot showed statistically significant relationship with outside ball of foot length, lateral malleolus height, ball of foot height, and ball of foot circumference. While, their left foot was significantly associated with foot length, ball of foot length, medial malleolus height, and first toe height(p<.05). With regards to foot length, Taekwondo players displayed highest foot width ratio, foot girth ratio, and foot heel ratio (behind U.S. soldiers). Foot length, instep girth and ball of foot circumference showed statistically significant relationship with all measurements(p<.01). From the regression equation, the R2 was found to be .85 (85%) and foot length explained the 61% of variances in foot girth.
