As construction sites get more complicated due to closely located adjacent buildings, often collapse of temporary earth retaining structures occur during the process of excavation. Monitoring of the behavior of those temporary earth retaining structures during construction is thus necessary for the safety of construction. In this paper, wireless inclinometers have been studied through laboratory experiments and field tests to be used as an effective tool to signal any incoming danger of collapse of H-pile and Lagging those temporary structures. In addition to the presentation of real-time measurements, an improved method of analyzing measured data compared to structural design of those structures is provided.

Model-based decision support system (DSS) has acted as a crucial role in strengthening the business competitiveness by providing a way of modeling and solving real-world decision problems in a quantitative and scientific manner. It is even more important for trading OTC derivatives, which requires extensive financial-engineering expertise while actively reacting to the continuously changing financial market . This paper proposes a flexible model-based DSS architecture that can support user-friendly interface for executing and analyzing the models and can adapt to the changes of financial market seamlessly. For user-friendliness, we implement the user-interfaces (UIs) using Microsoft Excel, a very widely used spreadsheet program for its great generality and extensibility. Users can utilize the analysis results of DSS or reprocess them for their special needs through the UIs in the form of familiar spreadsheets easily. For adaptiveness to the markets, the proposed architecture is constructed based on the object-oriented concepts, which enables such changes as release of a new financial product can be updated into the system without any delay at the lowest cost. We investigate the practical benefits and limitations of the proposed architecture by a case study on the construction of Model-based Trading Support System (MTSS), performed by a commercial bank in Korea.

FBG (Fiber Bragg Grating) 변형률 센서를 이용하여 철골트러스 지붕의 변형을 계측하였다. 이는 특수한 형태인 콘크리트 역쉘 구조물의 시공 중 안정성을 평가하기 위함이었다. 구조해석을 통하여 FBG 센서의 설치위치를 결정하였으며, 센서를 통한 변형률 값을 구조해석 값과 비교하였다. 이를 통하여 특수 구조물의 시공 중 계측을 위한 사전계측 계획의 필요성을 확인 할 수 있었고, 측정된 변형률 값이 구조해석 값을 통한 허용범위 내에 있어, 대상 구조물은 안전한 것으로 판단되었다. Application of FBG (Fiber Bragg Grating) sensors to measure strain of steel roof trusses has been performed. This is to check and confirm the structural integrity of an unusually shaped, reverse shell structure made of reinforced concrete. The issue was to place sensors at proper location and compare the measured values to the results from structural analysis. It has been learned that a deliberate measurement scheme is needed in order to monitor a complex structure during construction. In this study, the measured values were within allowable range of strain, thus confirming the safety of the structure during measurement and construction.
은행의 장외파생상품 거래 지원을 위한 의사결정지 원시스템 설계 사례

DSS는 금융상품의 가치를 정교하게 모델링하고, 이를 토대로 거래의사결정을 내림으로써 수익을 창출하는 금융시장 참가자들에게도 매우 중요한 역할을 하고 있다. 일반적으로, 금융상품가치의 모델링과 이의 분석은 고난도의 수학적 이론과 고밀도의 계산을 필요로 하는 매우 전문적인 작업으로, 이론적 기반이 부족한 거래담당자가 이를 효과적으로 수행할 수 있도록 지원하는 DSS의 역할은 성공적인 거래의사결정을 위해 반드시 필요한 요소 중 하나이다. 그럼에도 불구하고 아직까지 많은 금융기관들의 거래지원시스템은 금융상품 모델링의 지원보다는 거래업무 프로세스의 자동화 또는 대용량 거래 데이터의 효과적인 관리 등 데이터 처리에 대한 이슈를 중심으로 구축되고 있다. 또한, 시스템의 안정성을 위해 내부구조가 공개되지 않는 닫힌 시스템(closed system) 형태로 개발되는 경우가 대부분이기 때문에, 금융시장의 변화에 적절히 대처하기 어려운 경우가 많다. 이러한 기존 거래지원시스템의 한계를 극복하기 위해, 본 논문에서는 금융상품 모델링을 효과적으로 지원하고 시장 변화에 유연하게 대처할 수 있는 DSS 아키텍처를 제안한다. 특히, 국내의 대표적 시중은행에서 수행된 장외파생상품거래 지원시스템 구축 사례를 통해 실증적 관점에서 고려해야 할 사항들을 중심으로 제안 아키텍처의 장점과 한계점 등을 분석하였다.

Maintaining the stability of earth retaining structures is an important issue during excavation. Currently, the major instrument to measure displacement of the earth retaining structure is an inclinometer. However, the existing inclinometer has problem in real-time monitoring of the structures, and it can be solved by wireless inclinometer system. The purpose of this study is to validate the applicability of the wireless inclinometer system for monitoring the movement of CIP, an earth retaining wall, by a field test.

“Shoku-Nihongi” is an offical history recording the events between 697 and 791. It was completed in 791 during the reign of Kanmu Tenno. It is especially noteworthy that it recorded the periods of the reigning ruler, Karunu Tenno. Kanmu’s father was the grandson of Tenchi Tenno and his mother’s family immigrated from the Korean peninsular. This obvious defect in his lineage forced him to find various justifications for his enthronement. The collection of ‘Shoku-Nihongi’ was part of such efforts. The political role of ‘Shoku-Nihongi’ can be found in the fact that it criticized the reign of Shotoku Tenno, who reigned before Kanmu’s father, Konin, that it emphasized the benevolent rule of Kanmu by recording the events in which he gave pardons and prizes, and that the volume of the article related to Konin. and Kanmu is bigger that those about other rulers.
