Twenty frozen embryos obtained from high genetically potential donors were introduced by cooperation with the American Holstein Association. The 47 recipients at the National Livestock Breeding Station were intramuscularly injected once or twice with 25㎎ PGF₂α for synchronization of estrus cycle with donors. The frozen embryos were rehydrated in 2-steps sucrose media after thawing at 37℃ and embryo transfer was performed by both of surgical and non-surgical methods. In addition, fresh embryos collected from 3 donors of the Station were transferred. The results were as follows: 1. Twenty-two of 23 fresh embryos obtained from 3 superovulated donors showed good morphology and average 7.3 embryos per donor were collected. 2. Among 47 heads treated, rate of estrus induced by twice of PGF₂α was higher (87.5%) than by once (78.7%), and the rate of heifers was higher than cows. 3. The quality of corpus luteum of 45 recipients synchronized in estrus was composed of 15 cows (33.3%) in excellent or good, 23cows (51.1%) in fair or little poor and 7 cows (15.6%) in no corpus luteum or cystic follicle, respectively. Most of recipients showed fair or little poor corpus luteum. 4. All frozen embryos except seven showed geneally good qualities in results of examination before transfer. 5. Twelve (40%) among 30 embryos were impregnated and all of them were Holstein breeds. 6. Two of 12 frozen and 10 of 18 fresh embryos were concepted, respectively. The conception rate of fresh embryo was higher than that of frozen embryo. 7. Forty-five percentage (rune of 20 recipients) of conception rate by non-surgical were higher than 30% (three of 10 recipients) by surgical method. 8. The surgical conception rates (66.7%) of fresh embryos were higher than non-surgical method (53.3%). However, surgical method (14.3%) of the frowns were lower than non-surgical (20.0%).

An automobile outside rearview mirror system has been analyzed and designed, to reduce the vibration, A finite element model is defined for the analysis with a commercial software. Modal analysis has been conducted for the calculation of natural frequencies. Harmonic analysis is utilized to estimate the displacements of the glass surface under dynamic loads, the model is verified with the vibration experiment for parts and the assembled body.<br/> The structure of the mirror system has been optimized for the robustness defined by the Taguchi concept. At first, many design variables are identified. Input design variables are selected due to the amount of contribution, the SN ratio in the Taguchi method is replaced by an objective function with mean and standard deviation, the defined objective function is appropriate in the structural design. The selected design minimized the vibration which it is insensitive to noise.<br/>

General structure consists of parts and joints. These days. the structures are designed computationally by structural optimization. which uses the finite element analysis. It is very difficult to design<br/> structure with many parts because of the complexity. A jot of resources must be invested regardless of the reliability of solution. The large scale structures are simplified for the design purpose. At first. a simplified mode] is defined to include the behaviors of the large scale structure. The details of the those of the original mode1. Optimization methods are utilized for the matching process. The suggested method is verified through various examples. The method is very effective in designing large scale structures.

The outside rearview mirror system is analyzed and designed to cnhance the vibrational behavior. The sensitivity information is utilized for the selection of design variables which are important in the bhavior of mirror system. With selected design variables, designs are determined using an orthogonal array and structural optimization approach. Also, the comparison test is carried out between the solutions of the orthogonal array method and the structural optimization.<br/>

Frozen embryos with highest genetic-potency were imported from America in cooperation with the Holstein-Friesian of America and transferred to the recipients in the National Animal Breeding Institute. The estrus synchronization were induced with 64 cows by intramuscular injections of 25㎎ PGF₂α between 11 days interval. The frozen embryos thawed at 32℃ were rehydrated within the medium at 5 steps in order to remove glycerol. The embryos were transferred to 30 recipients with surgical method and the results were as follows: 1. Among 64 cows, heat inducing rate after 1st and 2nd injections of PGF₂α was 53.1 and 76.6%, respectively. 2. Most of synchronized estrus was induced within 2-4 days after PGF₂α injections, however prevalent one was within 3 days. 3. Heat inducing rate after 1st and 2nd injections of PGF₂α was 35.5 and 77.4% in the heifer and 69.7 and 75.8% in the cow. The rate after 2nd injection was much higher than 1st injection and the cow showed much higher rate than the heifer in 1st injection. 4. Among 30 recipients, 20 cows (66.7%) has corpus luteum in right ovary and 10 cows (33.3%) in the left. Three cows in 16 cows with A-class CL, 7 cows in 12 cows with B-class CL and 1 cow in 2 cows with C-class CL showed highest conception rate. 5. The frozen embryos staged from late morula to expended blastocysts were transferred and concepted. Conception was possible even in the C-class embryo. 6. Among 30 recipients, 11 cows (36.7%) were concepted and the cows (37.5%) showed slightly higher conception rate than the heifer (36.7%). 7. The conception rate of frozen embryo was 1 S.8% in first trial with 6 steps glycerol equilibration, 16.7% in 2nd trial with 2 steps sucrose equilibration and 36.7% in this 3rd trial with S steps glycerol equilibration. Third trial showed highest conception rate. 8. Among 79 recipients, 26 cows (32.9%) were concepted and farrowed. The conception rate of fresh embryos (55.6%) was higher than the frozen (26.2%) and that of the surgical (35.0%) was slightly higher than the nonsurgical (30.8%).
