The purpose of this study is to realize the importance of college students’ unification education, and to seek for the ways to vitalize the unification education leading to college students’ active participation. Under the current state that the division of the Korean Peninsula into north and south lasted for 70 years or more, college students are the future generations for unification. The importance of unification education is emphasized in various fields, but it is insufficient in unification education for college students who are ready for unification and have to lead it. Considering the recent research results in college students’ perceptions of Korean unification, their interest in unification and necessity recognition for unification are lack. Most college students have never taken unification education courses at college, but they feel the need for unification education. The unification education of college is important preparation for Korean society to solve social conflict during the process of unification, to share common value among North and South Korean people, and to have powerful cultural contents. For the unification education of college, the support of South Korean government and the effort of college society are needed. The unification education should be performed towards many college students at College of Humanities, College of Arts and Physical Education, College of Science and Engineering, etc. as well as students taking majors related to unification. In addition, our society needs college’s unification education so that objective information related to unification can be provided and college students can participate in the related courses attracting their interest.
