Bacillus subtilis 에서 cdd 와 dnaE-rpoD 간의 intergenic stretch 에서의 유전자 구성과 발현

The Bacillus subtilis cdd-rpoD stretch was cloned from lambdaD69 gene library and characterized. By searching nucleotide and polypeptide sequence homology through use the software Macvecter, Genetyx, and Fasta program with the GB, EMBL, and PIR databanks, stored in SparcII station, it suggested that a gene similar to the E. coli era was located at downstream of the B. subtilis cdd gene because the similarity index in nucleotide and polypeptide alignment was observed as 55 and 42%, respectively. The era gene was revealed similarity to the ras oncogene by its sequence homology and by GTP-binding ability of the gene product. Further downstream of the stretch, location of a gene similar to unknown 50K coding gene of E. codi was suggested. Two conserved sequences in the bacterial cdd genes were identified as PYSK…KDG…ENAA and PCGACRQ, and the cdd gene assumed to be descended from the same ancestor.
