RAON, a heavy ion superconducting linear accelerator has been installed in Daejeon, S. Korea. A cryogenic system, which was installed and tested its performance cool the accelerator down until 269 K. The system consists of a lot of components, cryogenic plants, a distribution box, cryogenic distribution lines, cryomodules and valve boxes. A cryogenic control system which is complicated and integrated by EPICS (Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System) is developed and the graphic user interface which is designed by CS-studio (Control System-studio) is developed. They were verified during the accelerator cool-down but they need some modification based on the cool-down operation. This paper summarizes the RAON cryogenic system infrastructure and graphic user interfaces.

The SRF(Superconducting Radio Frequency) test facility was constructed in Daejeon and a cryogenic system, which includes a helium liquefier, a distribution box, transfer lines, and a 2K-system, was also set up for the cryogenic temperature. To control the cryogenic system, an Allen-Bradley PLC and a Siemens PLC were used. The Siemens PLC for the helium liquefier was delivered by its maker and tested by them. The AB PLC hardware, draft automatic control logics, and interlocks for others, such as the distribution box, the transfer lines and the 2K-system, were designed by us. A Korean vendor made the hardware, programmed logics, and some GUIs. We and the vendor, together, have had some commissioning for the cryogenic control system. Some hardware which had problems were changed and some programs which had bugs were modified.

Rare isotope Accelerator complex for ON – line experiments (RAON) is the name of a heavy ion linear accelerator in Daejeon, Korea. The RAON consists of superconducting Radio Frequency (SRF) cavities and superconducting magnets and can serve variable rare isotope beams. For the operation of RAON, three cryogenic plants have to supply the cryogenic helium and cool down the accelerator under the operating temperature, 2.05 K, 4.5 K, and 40 K. Two of the cryogenic plants, which have unique specifications, are on bidding stage and the layout of cryogenic plants and their utilities are fixed. Control logics of plant interfaces have been developed. This paper shows brief specifications of cryogenic plants, operation scenario, layout, utilities, and schedules.
