In order to study the relationships between trace element concentrations of hair and internal organs, autopsy samples of hair, liver, kidney cortex, kidney medulla, heart, lung, spleen, cerebrum, testis and bone from 162 Korean subjects were analyzed for Cd, Hg, Pb and Zn by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry. High significant positive correlations were found between the Cd concentration in hair and bone and Pb in hair and lung. Hair Hg levels were highly significantly correlated with organ Hg levels in the liver, kidney cortex, kidney medulla, heart, lung, spleen, cerebrum, testis and bone. And hair Zn levels were highly significantly correlated with organ Zn levels in the kidney cortex, kidney medulla, spleen, testis and bone.

A sensitive method for the determination of methamphetamine(MA) and amphetamine (AM) in hair was developed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry using stable isotope-labeled internal standards, amphetamine-d5 and methamphetamine-d5. Hair sample was washed with MeOH, incubated with MeOH(l% HCl) overnight at 37oC while stirring and extracted using solid phase extraction column on a vacuum manifold. The extract obtained was pentafluoropropionated, and applied to GC/MS. The calibration curves of MA and AM were linear from 2.5 to 250ng (r>0.99 for both). The limit of detection was 0.1ng/mg in hair and Cut-off level was set at 0.25ng/mg for both. Hair samples of 27 MA abusers showed positive results in the range 0.7 to 106.8ng/mg. AM, its metabolite, was detected in 20 out of 27 samples. The ratio of MA versus AM was 4.6~38.3 in specimens. Hair analysis for methamphetamine by GC/MS is an effective method for identifying long-term drug abusers.
일축 압축력을 받는 콘크리트충전 각형강관 단주의 구조적 거동

각형강관 기둥에 콘크리트를 충전하여 사용하는 콘크리트충전 강관구조가 구조부재로 사용되면 기둥 부재의 내력과 변형 능력이 증가되어 높은 효율성을 가진 구조물 구현이 가능해 진다. 콘크리트충전 강관구조에 대한 국내의 설계기준은 대한건축학회에서 2005년에 제정한 후, 2009년과 2016년에 각각 개정되었다. 연구 목적은 콘크리트충전 각형강관 단주를 대상으로 일축 압축실험을 실시하여 압축내력 및 변형능력에 주는 영향을 파악하고, 국내의 건축구조기준의 기준식을 검증하여 차후 수정 및 보완에 필요한 자료를 제공하는데 있다. 실험에서 강관은 냉간가공으로 제작된 각형강관을 사용하였고, 시험체는 강관의 폭두께비를 변수로 총 26개를 제작하여 중심 압축실험을 실시하였다. 실험결과 콘크리트충전 각형강관 단주의 압축내력과 변위관계 및 파괴모드를 얻었고, 실험결과를 분석하여 콘크리트의 충전효과와 폭두께비의 영향을 파악하였다. 충전된 콘크리트의 압축내력은 일축응력 상태보다 9%정도 증가하였는데, 이것은 차후 건축구조기준에 반영할 필요가 있다. 실험결과를 건축구조기준과 비교한 결과, 냉간가공된 각형강관의 경우 건축구조기준의 콤팩트단면 한계폭두께비 2.26은 다소 과대 평가하고 있기 때문에 수정이 필요하며, 보수적으로 보완한 계수 1.35로 제한하여 보다 더 안정적인 설계식을 제안하였다. Concrete-filled steel tubular columns can improve the strength and deformation capacity of structures, thereby enabling the development of efficient structures. The Korean design standard (KDS41) regarding concrete-filled steel tubular structures, established by the architectural institute of Korea in 2005, was revised in 2009 and 2016. The objective was to understand the compressive strengths and deformation capacity of stub columns for concrete-filled square steel tubes under uniaxial compression and validate the KDS41"s standard code for necessary corrections. Experiments were conducted on 26 specimens with parameters, such as the width-thickness ratio of cold-formed square tubes. The following values of the stub columns for concrete-filled square steel tubes were obtained: compressive strengths, relationship between the axial load and axial displacement, and failure modes. An analysis of these results enabled an understanding of the concrete-filled effect and the influence of the wide-thickness ratio. The compressive strengths of filled concrete saw a 9% increase compared to a state of uniaxial stress, which must be noted in a future edition of KDS41. After benchmarking the results regarding square steel tubes generated by cold forming to the guidelines provided by the KDS41, the KDS41"s value of 2.26 for the limiting width-to-thickness ratio for the compact section was found to be inflated. With a safety concern, this paper proposes a more conservative value of 1.35.

Persistent organochlorine pesticides and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) have been used intensively in agriculture or industry for a long time. The occurrence of organochlorine pesticides and PCBs in the environment and subsequently in parts of the food chain, resulting in the intake of these compounds by man and animal. The measure of the levels of organochlorine pesticides and PCBs in tissues or blood of human populations are good markers in determining the extent of exposure and in the evaluating the hazards. So, most countriess have conducted initial monitoring programs to determine organcchlorine pesticides and PCBs in human tissues. But a few report has been presented in Korea. In this study α-BHC, β-BHC,γ-BHC, δ-BHC, p,p'-DDT p,p'- DDD, p,p'-DDE, endrin, dieldein, aldrin and 7 marker PCBs (28,52, 101, 118, 138, 153, 180) were determined in human blood, adipose tissue and liver tissues collected at autopsy of 10 men and 10 women, 13-79 year of age. Significant differences in the levels of organochlorine pesticides and PCBs between districts where they had lived were found in the following chemicals : total PCB in the blood : β-BHC, total BHC, p,p'-DDE and total DDT in the adipose tissue : p,p'-DDE, total DDT and PCB 118 in the liver. No significant difference was fecund in the levels of organochlorine pesticides and PCBs between sexes and ages. Though the levels of organochlorine pesticides and PCBs were relatively lower than that of other countries, we could know that organochlorine pesticides and PCBs have been widely distributed in Korean human body.
