수술 전 갑상선 유두상암의 경부 림프절 전이 진단에 있어 18F FDG PET-CT의 의의

Purpose: To compare the diagnostic accuracy of US/CT with US/CT/18F-FDG PET-CT in the diagnosis of cervical lymph nodes metastasis in papillary thyroid carcinoma. Methods: From July 2008 to May 2010, 36 patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma, confirmed by aspiration cytology analysis, underwent neck US, neck CT and 18F-FDG PET-CT preoperatively. The sensitivity, specificity and diagnostic accuracy of the US/CT, US/CT/PET-CT was analyzed according to lymph node level (all: levels I∼VI, central: level VI, lateral: levels I∼V). Results: At all lymph nodes group (level I∼VI), US/CT/ PET-CT showed a sensitivity of 66.6%, a specificity of 61.9% and a diagnostic accuracy of 63.8%. The corresponding values for US/CT were 60.0%, 85.7%, 75.0% respectively. Considering the central cervical nodes group (level VI), US/CT/PET-CT showed a sensitivity of 57.1%, a specificity of 68.1%, and a diagnostic accuracy of 63.8%. The corresponding values of US/CT were 57.1%, 90.9%, 77.7% respectively. Considering the lateral cervical nodes group (level I∼V), US/CT/PET-CT showed a sensitivity of 100%, a specificity of 84.3%, and a diagnostic accuracy of 86.1%. The corresponding values of US/CT were 75.0%, 84.3%, 83.3% respectively. The diagnostic results of US/ CT, US/CT/PET-CT in initial evaluation of the cervical nodes metastasis did not differ significantly. Conclusion: Our preliminary results suggest that additional PET-CT evaluation in US/CT does not provide statistically significant benefit for initial diagnosis of cervical lymph nodes metastasis in papillary thyroid carcinoma. 다단 나노여과 공정에서 고농도 geosmin 및 2-Methylisoborneol (MIB)의 제거특성

Algal problem in drinking water treatment is being gradually increased by causing deterioration of water supplies therefore, especially taste and odor compounds such as geosmin and 2-MIB occur mainly aesthetic problem by its unpleasant effects resulting in the subsequent onset of complaints from drinking water consumer. Recently, geosmin and 2-MIB are detected frequently at abnormally high concentration level. However, conventional water treatment without advanced water treatment processes such as adsorption and oxidation process, cannot remove these two compounds efficiently. Moreover, it is known that the advanced treatment processes i.e. adsorption and oxidation have also several limits to the removal of geosmin and 2-MIB. Therefore, the purpose of this study was not only to evaluate full scale nanofiltration membrane system with 300 m3/ day of permeate capacity and 90% of recovery on the removal of geosmin and 2-MIB in spiked natural raw water sources at high feed concentration with a range of approximately 500 to 2,500 ng/L, but also to observe rejection property of the compounds within multi stage NF membrane system. Rejection rate of geosmin and 2-MIB by NF membrane process was 96% that is 4% of passage regardless of the feed water concentration which indicates NF membrane system with an operational values suggested in this research can be employed in drinking water treatment plant to control geosmin and 2-MIB of high concentration. But, according to results of regression analysis in this study it is recommended that feed water concentration of geosmin and 2-MIB would not exceed 220 and 300 ng/L respectively which is not to be perceived in drinking tap water. Also it suggests that the removal rate might be depended on an operating conditions such as feed water characteristics and membrane flux. When each stage of NF membrane system was evaluated relatively higher removal rate was observed at the conditions that is lower flux, higher DOC and TDS, i.e., 2nd stage NF membrane systems, possibly due to an interaction mechanisms between compounds and cake layer on the membrane surfaces.
젊은 여자에서 우연히 발견된 원발성 후복막 기형종 1예

Primary retroperitoneal teratomas are rarely seen in adults. They occur mostly in children. They are usually asymptomatic in adults, but they may cause symptoms due to tumor compression. As the tumors grow larger, palpable abdominal mass, progressive abdominal distension, abdominal pain, and even nausea and vomiting are occasionally noted. The diagnosis of retroperitoneal teratoma can be made accurately by CT scan. And ultrasonography and magnetic resonance(MR) imaging are also a helpful tools in delineating the precise position. Retroperitoneal teratomas should be surgically removed if possible, regardless of where they are benign or malignant because histologically benign ones may eventually prove fatal due to continued growth. We report a huge (12 x 7 x 9.5 em) primary retroperitoneal teratoma which were found incidentally and complete resected in a 27-year-old female patient.

Wounds that heal with excessive scar formation result in poor functional and aesthetic outcomes. To address this, in our study, visible light cured glycol chitosan (GCH) hydrogels containing endothelial growth factor (EGF) and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) were prepared (GCH-EGF, GCH-FGF and GCH-EGF/FGF) and evaluated their efficacies on the improvement of wound healing in vivo. In vitro release test showed that the growth factors were released in a sustained manner along with initial burst for 24 h. In vitro cell proliferation assay of L-929 mouse fibroblast cell line resulted in the superior ability of GCH-EGF/FGF on the rate. In vivo results demonstrated that the growth factor loaded GCHs further enhanced wound healing compared with GCH. In particular, GCH-EGF/EFG showed the most remarkable wound healing effect among the samples.
