성견과 유견에 있어서 정중구개 봉합선의 급속확장에 따른 상악골 인접 봉합선부위의 육안적 비교 관찰에 과한 연구

The author has observed the gross reactions of surrounding maxillary sutures to the widening of midpalatal suture in comparison of young dog with adult dog. Experimental animals used was two young dog and two adult dog with normal palate. After midpalatal suture was seperated with rapid palatal expansion device, experimental animals were sacrificed to observe the surrounding maxillary sutures. The following results were obtained. 1. In adule dog, nasoincisive suture was not expanded, while in young dog it was espanded. 2. In adult dog, pterygopalatine suture was hardly espanded, while in young dog it was expanded unilaterally. 3. In adult dog, frontomaxillary suture was not expanded, while in young dog it was expanded unilaterally. 4. In adult dog, palatoethmoidal suture was not expanded, while in young dog it was expanded unilaterally.

악안면 두개골격의 수직·수평적 부조화에 관한 두부방사선 계측학적 연구

The purposes of the present study were to decribe the vertical and anteroposterior facial dysplasis,and to identify morphologic differences associated with various facial patterns. Anteroposterior dysplasia was classified by traditional Angle's malocclusion classfication and according to vertical relationships based on the SN-MP andgle, facial pattern ws subclassified to 3 vertical groups in each malocclusion group. Each vertical group composed of 20 samples and total 180 samples aged from 9 to 14 years. The results were as follows; 1. The skeletal differences that lead to disportionate lower facial height in vertical and andteroposterior facial dysplasia were closely related to mandibular morphology. 2. Hyperdivergent group, compared with hypodivergent group, demonstrated decrease of SNA and SNB and linguoversion of maxilliary and mandibular central incisors in asll malocclusion groups. 3. Irrespective of rotation of the jaws, Wits appraisal was a useful measurement in evalution of relative anteroposterior relationship of maxilla and mandible. 4. As SN-MP andgle increased, anterior facial height, especially lower anterior ffacial height, demonstrated significant increase and intermaxillary space also tended to increase. 5. The correlation coefficients of SN-MP angle and PTFH/ATFH demonstrated the highest value in all malocclusion groups.

In evaluation of some area within the craniofacial complex posteroanterior cephalogram together with lateral cephalogram is used for assessment of the exact existence and posture by grasping 3-dimensional concept. The usages of posteroanterior cephalogram in orthodontics are following. 1. The use during diagnosis and treatment planning 1) Assessment of the area and amount of facial asymmetry. 2) Assessment of therapeutic position for diagnosis and treatment 2. The Assessment of success in orthodontic mechanics If we use posteroanterior cephalogram together with lateral cephalogram adequately and simultaneously we can establish the exact diagnosis and appropriate treatment planning.

한국 젊은여성의 심미적 안보형태에 관한 두부방사선 계측학적 연구

Esthetic is one of the prime goal of the orthodontic treatment. It is represented by the word of harmony or balance. There is no absolute esthetic norm but it is important to study about it in orthodontic and orthodontic surgical treatment planning. The purpose of this study is to obtain the norm of Korean female adolesscents who were candidates of 1986, 1987 Miss Korea Beauty Contest. The 77 individual samples were selected and studied and by cephalometric analysis. Obtained results were as follows: 1. Korea esthetic norm was obtained. 2. Simple correlation norm was obtained. 3. Holdaway ratio of Korean beauty was 3.3 : 1 4. To compare with caucasian, profile of Korean beauty had less prominant nose, more prominant lip and deeper sulcus depth.
