한국영화 <차이나타운>과 <신세계>의 갈등구조 연 구: 정신분석학적 접근

본 연구는 정신분석학적인 접근을 통해 한국 영화의 서사를 이해하려는 노력의 일환이다. 영화에서 가장 중요한 서사적 요소인 갈등 구조는 서사에 역동성을 부여함으로써 영화가 관객들과 성공적으로 소통할 수 있게 한다. 영화의 서사는 문자로만 이루어져있는 문학과는 달리 영상이나 사운드와 같은 다양한 요소들로 구성되어 있기때문에 분석 작업에 특별한 전략이 요구된다. 따라서 갈등이라는 서사적 요소에 집중함으로써 영화 서사 분석의 난관을 돌파하고자 하였으며, 그것을 다루는 틀로서는 `유사가족(類似家族)`라는 표상을 선택하였다. 유사가족이란 혈연을 통해 엮이지 않았으면서도 가족주의에 바탕을 둔 사회적 집단을 의미하는 것으로, 한국의 문화적 특성중 가장 대표적인 것이 `가족주의` 이데올로기이므로 한국 영화의 갈등 구조를 분석하는 틀로 유사가족 표상을 활용하는 것은 본 연구만의 독창적인 시도라고 할 수 있다. 그러나 한국에서 유사 가족 표상이 나타난 영화는 너무나 많이 존재하기에 모든 사례를 점검하려고 시도하기보다는, <차이나타운>과 <신세계>라는 일부 사례를 통해 한국 영화의 서사를 보다 체계적으로 연구할 수 있는 하나의 전략을 시험함으로써 앞으로 진행될 후속 연구의 기틀을 마련하는 것이 본 연구가 지향하는 지점이다. 분석에는 정신분석적 방법이 집중적으로 도입되었으며, 기호학적 방법으로 기능적 차원을 보충하였다. This study concentrates on understanding narrative of Korean popular films through a psychoanalytic approach. Conflict as a important dramatic element makes dynamic narrative structure to communicate with audience successfully. In analyzing films, we need some special strategies because of complexity from non-textual components like image and sound of film, unlike literature. Therefore, focusing on the conflict structure of film narratives allows us to overcome difficulties of narrative analysis of films. In addition, as a framework of the analysis of this study , the representation of `quasi-family` is chosen. Quasi-Family includes various forms of social unit that have shape of family, but these are not real family. Using the framework of quasi-family for analysing the conflict structure of Korean film narratives is a unique attempt for this study because the representational ideology of Korean society and culture is `familism`. The destination point of this study is not analyzing all the cases but testing the method to analyze narrative of films through studying on just two cases, < The Coinlocker Girl > and < The New World > because there are too many films of film related with the representation of `quasi-family`. Analysis method consisted of psychoanalytic approach mainly, and semiotic method was used partially for functional purpose.
