We have studied on synthetic reactions of benzothiophene sulfonamide derivatives and tested the screening of each herbicidal activity of synthesized products that contained benzothiophene sulfonamide derivatives as the main center of aryl part of sulfonyl urea herbicide. To prepare the target compounds, we selected benzene sulfonyl chloride as the starting material. it was protected by tert-butyl amine at 0℃. Resulting N-(tert-butyl)benzene sulfonamide was lithiated by n-BuLi/THF at -78℃. It reacted sulfur subsequently and trapped with allyl bromide. Produced 2-(allyl sulfanyl)-N-(tert-butyl)benzen sulfonamide converted to N-(tert-butyl)-2-methyl-2,3-dihydro-1-benzothiophene-7-sulfonamide which was utilized by thio-Claisen rearrangement in the presence of quinoline at 230℃. After it was separated to 5-ring from the mixture, the 6 position of benzothiophene sulfonamide was reacted by a various substrates from structure activity relationship(SAR). Finally, it was coupled with heterocyclic amine and we have tested herbicidal activities for synthesized compounds. As a result, the products having the ehyl actate funtional group in benzothiophene sulfonamide derivatives showed effective herbicidal activity in Primary Screening.
