        Effect of Visceral Adipose Tissue on Atherogenic Lipoprotein-lipids in Circulating Plasma

        Little is known about how visceral adiposity and apolipoprotein CIII in apo B-containing lipoproteins influence plasma triglyceride (TG) concentrations. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationships of visceral adiposity and apo CIII in apo B-containing lipoproteins with plasma TG concentrations in men and women. Procedure: A subgroup of 46 men (n = 20, aged 29.1-33.4 yr) and women (n = 26, aged 29-1 33.8 yr) were recruited from an ongoing population study at our institution. Anthropometric variables including weight, height, and waist circumference were measured using standard procedures, and body mass index was calculated (kg/m2). Visceral adipose tissue (VAT) was measured with a magnetic resonance imaging. Plasma apolipoproteins, lipids, glucose, and insulin were measured after an overnight fasting. Results: The men had significantly higher waist circumference, glucose, and TC/HDLC ratio than the women, while the women had significantly higher HDLC and apo AI than the men. Of particular, this is the first study to report that VAT and apo CIII in apo B-containing lipoproteins were independent predictors in determining plasma TG concentrations in Korean adults. Conclusion: Among the obesity indices measured in the current study, VAT and waist circumference were more consistently associated with the atherogenic lipoproteinlipids( i.e. triacylglycerol, apo CIIIs), fasting insulin and glucose. Consequently, the current study suggest that information on VAT and apo CIII in apo B-containing lipoproteins may provide additional information on the development of atherogenic lipid profiles and thereby atherosclerosis.

        체육시설을 이용하는 남녀 대학생의 종목별 신체구성 및 체력수준 비교분석

        The purpose of this study was to investigate a cross-sectional research of body compositions and fitness of participants in a sports facility. The subjects of this study were divided into control(male n=70, female n=37), health(HE, male n=80, female n=50), and swimming(SW, male n=53, female n=25) group as their participating exercise type. Anthropometry, body composition test, blood pressure, and physical fitness test were measured. In the males, fat free mass was higher, and fat ratio, and resting heart rate were lower in both exercise group than control group. And cardiovascular fitness and muscle strength were higher in SW than control group. In the females, fat free mass was higher in both exercise group than control group. HE showed lower resting heart rate and higher aerobic fitness and muscle strength compare to control group. And there were no significant differences between SW and HE group in body composition and fitness factors. Cardiovascular and muscular fitness were related with FFM positively, and fat ratio inversely. The university students who are participated in sports facility regularly had improved body composition and the male of SW group, and the female of HE group had higher fitness level than non-exerciser.

        조혈모세포이식 환자의 신체활동상태에 따른 신체구성과 영양 및 골대사 지표에 관한 조사

        Hematopoietic stem cell transplantaion(HSCT) has been used to treat a variety of non-malignant and malignant lymphohematopoietic disease. It was reported that performance status(ECOG PS) is associated with nutritional status which is most affective factor for treatment and recovery in cancer patients, and ECOG PS is also independent prognostic factor in patients. This study investigated that the effects of ECOG PS on body composition, nutritional indices and bone metabolism before and after a year post-HSCT. Reports of 44 patients undergoing HSCT were analysed in this study. According to their performance status before and after a year post-HSCT, patients were divided into a improved(or maintained) group A(n=28) and a decreased group B(n=16). Body fat ratio and waist hip circumference of group B were higer than group A(p<.05). Hemoglobin concentration increased after HSCT in group A(p<.05). Alkaline phosphatase was higher in group A than group B(p<.05). The results indicate that decreased ECOG PS related with high body fat ratio and waist hip circumference, and maintaining ECOG PS contribute to increase of blood hemoglobin level. Further research is needed for intervention to improve ECOG PS intervention.

        노인의 균형자신감과 골밀도 및 근감소증 지표와의 연관성

        본 연구는 노인의 균형자신감과 골밀도 및 근감소증 지표와의 연관성을 검증하고, 추가적으로 균형자신감에 대 한 세부적인 독립예측변인을 파악하는 것에 주요 목적을 두었다. 연구대상은 경기도 지역의 60세 이상 노인 308명(남: 67명, 여: 241명)을 대상으로 하였으며, 균형자신감은 한국어판 활동 특이적 균형자신감 척도를 이용하여 조사하였다. 골밀도는 이중 에너지 X-ray 방사선 흡수법 원리를 이용하여 요추, 대퇴 경부, 전신을 측정하였으며, 근감소증 지표는 악력, 보행속도, 사지근율비율 지수를 포함하였다. 균형자신감은 전신 골밀도(R=.278, P<.001), 요추 골밀도 (R=.157, P=.008), 대퇴 경부 골밀도(R=.383, P<.001), 보행속도(R=.490, P<.001), 악력(R=.399, P<.001), 사 지근육비율 지수(R=.242, P<.001)와 유의한 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 균형자신감에 대한 독립예측인자 는 보행속도(β=.338, P<.001), 악력(β=.202, P=.009), 대퇴 경부 골밀도(β=.202, P=.018)인 것으로 나타났다. 노인의 균형자신감에 있어서 보행속도, 악력, 대퇴 경부 골밀도는 독립적인 역할을 할 수 있는 요인인 것으로 나타났으 며, 노년기 규칙적인 걷기 운동, 체중부하를 통한 근력 운동프로그램은 노인의 균형자신감 증진과 더불어 낙상예방에 적절한 대응방안이 될 수 있을 것으로 생각된다. This study examined the association of bone mineral density (BMD) and sarcopenia component with balance confidence in elderly. Method: This was a cross sectional study involving 308 (men: 67, women: 241) elderly. Korean version of activities-specific balance confidence (ABC) scale was used to assess balance confidence. BMD analysis was performed with a dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA). Measured sarcopenia components included appendicular skeletal muscle mass (ASM) index, hand grip strength (HGS), gait speed (GS). Results: Balance confidence was significantly associated with total BMD (R=.278, P<.001), lumbar BMD (R=.157, P=.008), femur neck BMD (R=.383, P<.001), ASM index (R=.242, P<.001), HGS (R=.399, P<.001), and GS (R=.490, P<.001). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that GS, HGS, and femur neck BMD were independent predictors for balance confidence. Conclusion: The current findings of the study suggest that promotion of resistance exercise and weight-bearing exercise should be incorporated in interventions against balance confidence with normal aging.

        G protein β3 유전자다형에 따른 비만지표, 혈중 지질과 혈압 및 심폐체력의 비교

        본 연구에서는 젊은 남자들을 대상으로 G proiein β3(GNB3) C825T 뮤전자다형(CC 동형 접합자, CT 이형접합자, 77 동형접합자)에 따른 인체계측변인, 비만지표, 혈 중 지질과 글루코스, 혈중 NO, 혈압, 그리고 심폐체력을 비교하였다. 총 152명의 신체 건강하고 질환이 없는 건강한 남자(평균연령 23.04±3.03)들이 자발적으로 실험 동의서에 서약한 후 본 연구의 피검자로 참여하였다. 모든 피검자는 총 3회에 걸쳐 본교 운동생리학실험실을 방문하였다. 첫 번째 방문에서는 인체계측변인과 비만지표 그리고 혈압들을 측정하였다. 두 번째 방문에서는 점진적 트레드밀 운동을 이용하여 분당최대산소섭취량을 측정하였고, 그리고 세 번째 방문에서는 12시간 공복 상태의 혈맥을 채취하여 유전자다형, 혈중 지질, 글루코스, 그리고 nitric oxide 수준을 분석하였다. GNB3 C82ST 유전자형질의 분석은 중합효소연쇄반응과 세한효소절단법에 의한 절편 그리고 2% 아가로겔과 선기영동법을 이용하였다. 카이스게이자승법을 이용하여 C82ST 유전자다형의 상대적 빈도에 대한 Hardy-Weiuberg 평행성 테스트를 실시한 결과, 총 152면에서 관찰된 C82ST 유전자다형의 상대적 빈도는 평행성을 이루고 있는 것으로 나타났다(p=0.26), 일원변량분석을 이용하여 C82ST 유전자다형 간에 측정한 변인들을 비교한 결과, 수측기혈압(p=0.005), 이완기혈압(p=0.019), 평균동맥압(p=0.004)에서 집단 간에 유의한 차이를 나타냈다. 따라서 Tukey 사후 검정을 미용하여 이러한 집단 간의 차이를 세부적으로 조사한 결과, TT 동형접합자는 CC 동형접합자 및 CT 이형접합자에 비해 모든 혈압 변인에서 유의하게 더 높은 수치를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 뿐만 아니라 심페체력 지표인 분당최대산 소섭취량 또한 유전자형 간에 유의한(p=0.036) 차이가 있어서 Tukey 사후검정을 실시한 결과, 혈압 변인과는 정반대로 TT 동형접합자가 CC 동형접합자에 비해 유의하게 더 낮은 심폐체력을 갖는 것으로 나타났다(p=0.027). 따라서 본 연구의 결 과에 의하면, GNB3 C82ST 유전자다형은 탄압과 유의한 관련성이 있을 뿐만 아니라 유전자형과 혈압과의 이러한 연관성은 심폐체력에 의해 영향을 받을 수 치음을 의미하는 것으로 사료되었다. A single base substitution (C→T) at position 825 of the G protein β3 (GNB3) gene, which encodes the β3 subunit of G protein, is related to a splice variant of exon 9, resulting in the loss of 41 amino acids. The TT genotype has been associated with elevated blood pressure, hypertension, and obesity in whites, black Africans, and Asians. The current study was to compare anthropometric measures, obesity indices, blood lipoprotein-lipids, glucose, nitric oxide, and blood pressure parameters across the G protein 03 gene polymorphism in young Korean adults. A total of 152 apparently healthy volunteers voluntarily participated in the study. Body mass index(㎏/㎡), percent body fat, waist circumference, and waist-to-hip ratio were measured as obesity indices. VO₂max was measured as a cardio-respiratory index. Systolic blood pressure (DBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) were measured by using a mercury aphygmometer and mean arterial blood pressure (MAP) was calculated. Nitrate activity as a biochemical marker of nitric oxide (NO) was measured in fasting plasma samples. Chi-square analysis was used to test the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium for the relative frequencies of the GNB3 genotypes. One-way ANOVA, followed by Tukey post-hoc test if necessary, was used to compare the measured variables across the GNB3 genotypes at p = 0.05. The results of the study were as follows; 1) the relative frequencies of the GNB3 genotypes were in the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, 2) with respect to anthropometric measures, blood lipoprotein-lipids, glucose, and NO, there were no significant differences across the GNB3 genotypes, and 3) with respect to blood pressure parameters, the TT homozygote had significantly higher SBP, DBP, and MAP than either the CC homozygote or the CT heterozygote. In addition, the CC homozygote had a significantly higher VO₂max value than the TT homozygote. In summary, the current findings of the study suggest that 1) the TT homozygote of the GNB3 C825T gene polymorphism is associated with elevated blood pressure in healthy young Korean men and 2) cardio-respiratory fitness may modulate the relationship between the GNB3 genotype and blood pressure.

        Hybrid fabrication process of additive manufacturing and direct writing for a 4×4 mm matrix flexible tactile sensor

        Various machines require data from their external environments for safety and/or accuracy. In this respect, many sensors thatmimic the human sensory system have been investigated. Among these, tactile sensors may be useful for obtaining data on theroughness of, and external forces acting upon, an object. Several tactile sensors have been developed; however, these are typicallyfabricated via a series of complex processes, and hence are unsuitable for volume manufacturing. In this paper, we report a fabricationprocess for a 4×4 mm matrix flexible sensor element using layered manufacturing and direct-write technology. A compositecomposed of photocurable resin and Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) was used as the sensing material. The MWCNTswere mixed with the photocurable resin using ultrasonic dispersion, and the liquid mixture exhibited excellent piezoresistive propertiesfollowing curing using ultraviolet light. The used photocurable resin is flexible and elastic after curing. Therefore, the compositematerial can be bent and deformed. To use this composite material with the flexible sensor, dispensing characteristics wereexamined using direct-write technology. For the acquisition of sensor data, a commercial pin-header was inserted and photocurableresin was filled up to the height of pin-header and cured . Then, the composite material was dispensed onto the pin-header as a sensingmaterial. Using this process, a flexible sensor with piezoresistive properties was formed.

        여자 초등학생의 신체활동과 심폐체력 및 신체구성 그리고 심혈관 위험인자와의 연관성

        강현식, 하창덕, 홍혜련, 권훈겸, 김성희, 우상구. 여자 초등학생의 신체활동량 및 강도와 심폐체력, 신체구성, 심혈관 위험인자와의 상관성. 운동과학, 제20권 제4호. 389-396, 2011. 본 연구의 목적은 기존의 횡단적 연구에서 비만 및 대사증후군의 예방 및 치료를 위해 제시된 13,000보수의 적정보수를 목표로 12주간의 신체활동 중재를 실시한 후, 신체활동량 및 강도와 심폐체력, 비만지표, 심혈관 위험인자의 상관성을 검증하는 것이었다. 본 연구의 대상자는 초등학교 여학생24명(11.79±0.78세)으로 하였고, 12주 신체활동 중재 전과 후에 신장, 체중, 체질량지수, 체지방율, 허리둘레, 최대산소섭취량, 중성지방, 총 콜레스테롤, 고밀도지단백 콜레스테롤, 혈당을 측정하여 분석하였으며, 12주간 1일 13,000보수의 신체활동을 하도록 권고하였다. 연구결과, 12주간의 신체활동 중재를 통해 신장, 체중, BMI, 심폐체력의 유의한 증가가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 신체활동량과 신체구성, 심폐체력, 심혈관질환 위험인자와의 상관성 분석 결과, 신체활동량은 최대산소섭취량과 수축기혈압과 유의한 상관성이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 신체활동 강도와 신체구성, 심폐체력, 심혈관질환 위험인자와의 상관성 분석 결과, 신장과 중강도 및 고강도 신체활동이 상관성이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 결론적으로 초등학교 여학생의 경우 심폐체력증진과 키 성장 자극 그리고 비만 및 심혈관질환 위험인자의 효과적인 개선을 위해서는 중등도 이상의 규칙적인 운동을 포함하여 상당한 수준의 신체활동량(예, 1일 13,000보수)이 필요하다는 사실을 의미하는 것으로 판단된다. The purpose of current study was to investigate the correlations of physical activity with cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF), body composition, and cardiovascular risk factors in elementary school girls. A total of 24 girls (11.79±0.78 years) voluntarily participated in the physical activity intervention stuy. Before and after the intervention, all the participants underwent a series of measurements including body composition, obesity indices, CRF, and cardiovascular risk factors. Then each participant was invited to participate in a physical activity intervention targeting at 13,000 steps/day, which was predetermined in our preliminary study, for 12 weeks. All participants worn the Life-corder accelerometer to monitor their daily physical activities including its volume and intensity. Height, weight, body mass index, CRF were increased significantly after the 12-week PA intervention. PA volume was positively related to CRF and systolic blood pressure (SBP). Moderate and high PA intensities were positively relate to height growth. In conclusion, the current findings of the study suggest that substantial amount of physical activity (i.e., accumulated 13,000 steps per day) including regular exercise with moderate or higher intensities would be necessary for the improvements of in CRF, obesity indices, and cardiovascular risk factors as well as height growth.
