시각장애인의 문화생활 향상을 위한 스마트 이동보조시스템에 관한 연구

본 논문에서는 시각장애인의 문화생활 향상을 위한 촉각으로 주변사물의 정보를 파악하는 스마트 이동보조 시스템을 제안한다. 제안된 시스템은 전시장의 관람 경로에 따라 물리적으로 당기는 힘으로 시각장애인을 유도하는 스마트가이더(Smart Guider)와 주변 장애물을 감지하여 팔에 진동으로 알려주는 웨어러블가이더(Wearable Guider)로 구성된다. 시각장애인을 위한 다양한 이동보조 시스템이 개발되고 있지만, 시각장애인을 위한 감상·관람에 대한 고려가 이루어지지 않아 시각장애인의 문화생활 향상에 도움을 주지 못하고 있다. 제안된 시스템은 시각장애인이 전시장을 관람할 때 다차원 진동을 통해 장애물의 위치를 파악할 수 있게 하고 촉각유도와 음성안내로 전시장의 이동경로 정보를 시각장애인에게 제공한다. 특히 제안된 시스템은 전시장 공간을 시각장애인이 가상으로 지각할 수 있는 정보를 생성하고 전시물 안내를 시각장애인 맞춤형 음성정보로 제공한다. In this paper, we propose a Smart Walking Aid System which recognizes surrounding objects with the blind’s sense of touch in order to improve their cultural lives. The proposed system consists of the Smart Guider and the Wearable Guider. The Smart Guider guides blind people by using physical pulling power for which the blind can see works by following the view path in exhibition spaces. The Wearable Guider notifies the detected obstacle through the vibration on the blind's arm. There are various walking aid systems for blind people. However, the existing systems did not consider an aesthetic enjoyment of the blind in the exhibition, so that they could not help to improve the blind's cultural lives. The proposed system provides that the blind perceive obstacles' location by using multi-dimensional vibration when the blind appreciate the exhibits. Also, our system informs the blind the view path of exhibits based on the guidance of haptic and hearing. Especially, our system creates information that the blind can virtually recognize exhibition spaces, and provides customized auditory explanation for the blind about the exhibits.
